Cool seeing you use a Gauntlet, Dana. So we don't have to use a $1,500 air rifle in the wild. My Gen 1 Gauntlet is all Haji'd out to the max and is one of my BEST rifles. Love it.

I recently purchased the Gauntlet SL2 this is the side lever action. One thing that is a small problem is the plastic shroud with the M-lock slots. Installed an M-lock By-pod the problem is the plastic is not strong enough which allow the bipod to move side to side. The a M-lock adapter for the Picatinny style bi-pod this did not stop the flex in the M-lock slots in the plastic shroud. Installed the Hojomoto barrel band with the Picatinny system this is a solid mount and is recommended,

Here's hoping your wife & baby are doing well. I'm not sure I would be able to lug the Gauntlet around for very long. At just under 4' in length & 8.8 lbs unscoped (about 10.5 + scoped) I'm afraid it would need its own trailer. It did shoot beautifully, though, and seemed very accurate. Good to see you & Marley back at it, Dana!

Great Video Dana! That looked like a cool spot. Too bad the critters didn't want to come out and play. That's the way it goes sometimes. I have a Gen 1 Gauntlet 25. It has a larger bottle with the reg turned up to 2100 psi and a Hajimoto Tune Kit. It is a 50 ft lb gun. It's accurate too. Unfortunately it is just too heavy to carry around much. I don't like the sling mounting locations at all. To me it is pretty much a bench gun, or maybe if you were to carry it to a blind to do some stationary hunting with it would be OK. The Gen 2 stock is an improvement for sure. The larger tank is cool and the jacked up reg is nice. I just think there is better options out there that that boat anchor though for about the same $. Just saying. For the type of hunting I do, I'll take my 25 Marauder over that gun any day of the week. Looks like you guys had fun though! That tent setup with the stove is awesome! Safe travels Man!

I agree about the weight, for the price I think it's pretty good though. I would take the durability over the weight loss of some other brands of entry level.

Great video Dana, your work is always top notch. Thanks again for showing the beauty of your camping locations. The Gauntlet 2 is a nice, powerful and accurate rifle. But its 4500 PSI full fill is excessive for entry level. As soon as compressors or expensive bottles are needed to fully fill air rifles, they are no longer "entry level" even with a budget price. Kudos to the manufacturers who produce 200 to 250 bar fill rifles with a good shot count which are hand pump or pony bottle friendly.

I do think even with a hand pump even though you can't fill it up all the way you would still get a decent shot count let's just say if it was like 3/4 of the way filled what do you think

Thanks, yes I agree on the fill pressure. I was only filling to 3500 as in the bush it's sometimes difficult to get up higher. As long as you fill above the reg the performance is still excellent.

My Gauntlet 1 is still banging away with the best of my other expensive guns. However, doing all the mods makes it an outstanding gun. I was lucky to get a great barrel back at the very first shipments as some were not so good. Another thing about this series of guns is the massive and easy upgrades you can do for yourself. They truly turn this gun into a gun that matches those 2 or 3 times the price, and that is for both versions. One mod I did for myself is to put a lighter spring on my trigger as mine was very stiff. The mods to lighten the cocking made a huge difference. Now years later and 10,000s pellets it is literally just as good. I wish my expensive guns were so good. One thing it appears that has not changed with the new model is the barrel does flex enough to instantly throw off your POI if you bang it against something.

It seems to be a very good gun for the price. But I noticed every time you shot it the bolt would kick up,I'm curious if that would end up being a big problem after you got the gun broke in after several shots through it.

@@richiebrown9623 I've put several hundred rounds through mine at this point. The amount of spring tension on the bolt it's not going anywhere you don't put. I love my G2 but have the same complaint he did about the amount of force necessary to cock that bolt to the rear.

The guns definitely durable, bolt actions are very reliable. I would take this over the majority of entry level guns I've tested.

Maybe the Gen 3 will have a side cocking lever ? Not a big fan of the Gauntlets . I do like the shot count though . Still like my Hatsan AT 44 QE long 22 caliber although shot count is low .
