Umarex Notos Testing FX Hybrid Slugs 22 Grain At 22 Yards

I didnt get to the 50 yard groups yet but curiosity was killing me so I ran some slugs across the Chrony. 22 grain FX Hybrid slugs were averaging 615 fps and the 25 grain H&N’s were averaging 590 fps. Again, this is with the hammer spring screw backed all the way out (flush) with the frame. So pretty much the slowest you can shoot them out of the notos. 50 yard groups will be coming very soon tho.

You were shooting at 94 yards. That's the new standard! Those will hit hard at 94 yards

@@ricko2766 they actually do. I found one of the H&N 25 grain slugs on the ground next to 2 older pellets. You could tell it was the slug, and they were pellets two different ways. One, their size. The pellets were damn near identical in the way they mushroomed, and the size they mushroomed to. They also were equally as tarnished and grayed due to sitting in the weather. The slug, was not only noticeably larger, but also the lack of a skirt and the fact it was super shiny was the dead giveaway. But, at 94 yards, I shit you not that fucker was flat as a pancake. Size wise it was like 2 dimes next to a nickel. I am absolutely impressed that the slug had enough energy at 94 to flatten right out off the steel. Ill add that video into the next slug video I do. Cause Ive got several more slugs to test. Haha thanks again and have a great week.

Does that extension on the silencer help in the noise reduction and does it affect your accuracy?

To the naked ear, and anyone standing around you, yes. It absolutely makes a difference. So far, Ive seen zero effects to accuracy. The camera mic on the other hand, does not really showcase the quieting effect of the Moderator. But I highly recommend this setup from Red Corn Outdoors. Have a good one Johnny!

Hahaha! Dont tell the wife! I bought a mess of slugs for testing in the Armada last summer. I shot about 5-10 out of each tin, only to find the Armada didnt like ANY of them. Hahaha. Honestly thought id never use them again, now it appears there may be new life into that box! Cant wait to test the rest of them. The Notos is a beast for sure!!

I think for the 50 yard accuracy test its only fair to increase the velocity as much as possible. By the time they get to 50 yards they have got to be going pretty slow. My preliminary 50 yard group was not very impressive, but Im going to retry with the ATN, and the hammer spring in giving the notos the best possible chance. It only seems fair. Also I have some 30 yrd groups coming out in a video today. I got rained out before the 50 yards groups sadly. But Im going to try. Id like to see what they do at 94 as well. This is my first time watching your videos. I was curious about what all mods have you done to Notos?

In this video I have the Buck Rail AR conversion kit, an off brand Pistol grip, a Red Cord Outdoors No Mod Moderator, and a UTG Bug Buster 3-9x32 scope. All my mods are cosmetic at this stage. The gun and its settings are still from factory stock. I have since turned down the hammer spring adjustment all the way to get an extra mag out of the regulator. @@d.collier_8280 absolutely. It is wicked deadly to 40 even 50 yards if you trust your aim. Ive taken chipmunks at 83 yards with it. I also dropped a coyote at 35 yards with a headshot at the base of the ear. The Notos would make a fine squirrel’r. Im certain you will be more than happy with it. I highly recommend them. Its a Red Corn Outdoors No Mod Moderator. It just slips over the end of the barrel and is secured by tightening 2 allen screws. You can head over to Red Corn Outdoors YT channel and see what he has got over there. I will say it absolutely reduces the volume of the Notos. Tho the Notos inst necessarily a loud gun, this Moderator absolutely reduces the shot volume. Ill see if I can put a link to his channel in this comment. Angel is a great guy and does some fine work. Yes, they are pretty damn good quality. Not sure ill ever buy more, or even use the ones I have, but if anyone is curious about the Notos being able to shoot slugs or not, im happy to share my experience. Yeah man you bet. I got another video dropping today with some 30 yard groups. I tried a prelim group at 50 and was not happy with the results so Ima increase the hammer spring to get the slugs to 700 at the least, hopefully. But so far im surprised at how well they have been shooting. Likely will only use slugs for specific purposes as they are not economical to shoot. But its good to know if I had to, i could use them. Nice shooting. The 15.89 grain are shooting really well. Don't you have concerns about seals and o-rings using heavier pellets? I don't know if that's shortens the lifespan of internal parts

Thats a good question. Ive not really thought about that, but I also don’t think the little bit of testing I have done will affect it. Ill prolly never shoot slugs other than to test them. Tho they do work, and they would hit like a freight train, they are just not economical. But it is very possible that long time usage may affect the internals. They certainly were tight in the bore, and likely increased pressure on the back end some. Thank god the 15.89 Hades perform as well as they do. Hahaha. Have a good one homie!

Ok great question. I have not chrony’d the slugs yet, but I do have another video coming with 30, and 50 yards groups. Sadly I was rained out this morning before the 50 yards groups, and before the chrony numbers. But, hopefully by this evening, that video will be out. I wont make you wait on the info tho, and as soon as I have the chrony numbers, ill comment them to you in this thread. Sometime this afternoon hopefully. I did. The chrony numbers are in my slug 50 yard groups video. The Fx Hybrids shot around 635 fps and the H&N 25 grain shot around 605 fps if memory serves. Pretty slow but they did do decently accuracy wise. And that was with the hammer spring cranked in as far as I felt comfortable. Thanks and have a great day!

Yes, much. In the video the muzzle is damn near on the microphone. The gun is super duper quiet and absolutely backyard friendly. Ive yet to find a reliable way to capture how quiet it is on camera. But it certainly is quieter than what is presented here. MAGA indeed! Have a great week!
