During season 1, they didn’t fight well together and none of them were using their abilities to their fullest potential. They had been apart for years and weren’t close at all. The opening scene here is them fighting together in 1963, presumably after having grown closer over their situation of being stranded in time. They were finally reaching their potential and working as a team. They were scattered from 1960-1963 so they had plenty of time to reconnect.

Allison got dropped in 1961. That's 2 years later we see her with a husband. If 5 didn't show up for that long, when he went missing for over 15 years( their time), their first time around. She probably thought she was going to be stuck there forever. Plus, her alone in an era that isn't hers.... The future is gone. That timeline is gone. For all she knew she would never see her daughter again. She still needed to live. From the background video I saw on the comics of this show, the Commission did experiments on their assassins. 5 was infused with spliced DNA from several famous serial killers from history. That explains his crazy eye and blood lust when he became an assassin. He enjoys the kill. Vanya bumped her head when they hit her with the car. That's why she's not faking her amnesia. 5's job was not to shoot JFK. It was to make sure no one stopped the actual assassin from shooting him. Remember, the Commission likes to keep events of destruction, in order.

Since you guys had some nuclear war stories to share I remembered one. It doesn't have to do with us getting close to war, but a photographer who was contracted to take photos of nuclear explosions for the government told a story where he accidentally lost his special glasses designed to reduce the the light of the explosion (because the light from a nuke, if close enough, can actually do a lot of damage to your eyes.) He panicked and last second just put his hands over his eyes and as the explosion was happening he could actually see his bones and veins through his hand because the lights were so bright.

Most of them spent months in the 60's. They kind of moved on and lost hope in finding each other again. Also they become more stable people when they are away from each other. It would be hard to lose that considering the trainwrecks they had for lives in the modern day.

on the nuclear near miss situations you should look up Stanislav Petrov. Back in 1983, he was stationed at a Soviet early warning station that picked up launches from the US. The Soviets were really paranoid at the time that Reagan would actually try his luck, because of the sabre rattling language he was using. Plus tensions were high because the soviets had accidently shot down a Korean airliner, and NATO were performing 'wargames' in Germany, that the soviets thought were just a cover for the real thing. Petrov thought the small number of missiles launched seemed wrong, and he refused to follow the protocol and pick up the phone and report the launch to his superiors. Turned out it was the soviet satelites mistaking some clouds for missile trails. OOPs...typed this just before you talked about it haha.

Great reaction to a great first episode, guys! When you're finished with this season, I recommend you try the shows "Hannibal" and "The Leftovers" (both finished, both with 3 seasons). It is really quality TV and, in the case of The Leftovers (by the creators of LOST), really a masterpiece and makes for great discussions...

I would argue Ben should not have been 6 though. Compaired to Allison, Klaus and 5. Ben has a power that is more physical and tied to his being, and can be very usefull in most situations, but Allison can rumour peoples heads to explode and 5 is very quick and can mess with your mind while fighting. And as we saw in the beginning of season 2, Klaus can make an ghost army. To me all of those seem more usefull than what Ben does 😅

But I do agree with Allison esp. if we go by the comics. She wasnt just mere compulsion, ordering people around. Her powers extend to bending reality, literally making a wish and making it real.

the first season was kind of a let down, had a lot of potential. If I'm being honest this season is a lot of the same but the best parts of the show are better, and the worst parts are lessened so its definitely more enjoyable overall
