you cant really just look at the price of the umbreon at a psa 10 and compare it to other psa 10s like that without also looking at the base price of the raw cards. yes the umbreon 10 is selling for 830 which is more than the lugia which is selling for 272, but a raw umbreon sells for more than half that 800 number whilst a raw lugia sells for less than half of its number. so percentage wise the lugia is doing better. bigger $ numbers dont always mean better. for example lets say that over the last year $400 evo skies booster boxes went up by $100 whilst $100 fusion strike boxes went up by 50$. whilst on the surface this makes it seem like evo skies did better than fusion strike over the last year when you take into account the percentage of growth you can see that this is not the case. if evo skies is 400$ box and grew by 100$ than it grew by 25 percent. if fusion strike is a 100$ box and grew by 50$ than it grew by 50 percent. this means that if you bought 4 100$ fusion strike boxes rather than a single 400$ evo skies box your total proffits would be twice as much with the fusion strike boxes as it would with the evo skies box. this is why comparing percentages is more important than comparing the $ amount.

Plus you have to consider why there’s that many 10 umbreons? It’s not because the print quality on ES was better or the pull rates were better or even that there are simply just more of them out there it’s as simple as there are just more of them getting sent in to be graded than the other alts. There are a couple reasons for that 1 its umbreon which is def in top 3 as far as what character is collected the most 2 it’s the most valuable card in the sword shield era so collectors are going to be more likely to send it in vs other alts that aren’t as valuable 3 it’s the most hyped and wanted card out there. Everyone talks about it and everyone wants one (at the right price). Plus you have to factor in that it’s much easier to sell a graded copy of this vs selling it raw and that’s because it’s an expensive card and there are a lot of fakes going around and if someone is going to buy this they will want that peace of mind knowing that they’re getting an authentic copy because it’s already graded especially if they plan on dropping 650$+ on a card (they’re going to want a guarantee at that point) vs spending 50-200$ (about what most of the other alts are selling for minus the rayquaza, Gengar and giratina v) on a card. There’s not going to be as much worrying over spending the 50-200 as there would be in spending 650+

Well most people I see online have 2 moonbreons at least, ive seen vendors with up to five and I personally know people who only collect moonbreons they can snipe off ebay in good condition. Do you understand what that means

The demand for Lugia and Blaziken is nowhere close to that of Umbreon. The artwork on the Moonbreon sealed it. It will never be a $3,000 card or anything like that due to the pop report, but in five years it will be well over $1,000 because it is just too iconic not to be and demand for it will outstrip any concerns about the pop report.

It's an ugly card. Of all evolving skies card, people chose this one to put that expensive price on. The rayquaza looks much better. Even the regular Umbreon v looks cooler than Moonbreon

@@nightowl7261 dont think its an ugly card but do agree the ray ray and base umbreon are better art work. funily enough the ray ray was actually the most expensive card in the set up till about 7 months after its release. evo skies saw its biggest crash ever in january 2022 and for the first and only time both cards were sub 200. after that the dynamic between the two shifted as the moonbreon started growing at a pace that ray ray could not keep up with, it surpassed the ray ray quickly and went to 300 by the time ray ray was just reaching 200 again. from their it went to 400 and was on its way to 5 before their was a reprint and it dropped down to 300 for the final time which is where i picked mine up.

@youcanthandlemyname7393 What's the reason for Moombreon to be so expensive? Is it playable? Artwork? Because artwork wise, rayray and umbreon V takes that spot. So I just don't get why Moonbreon is so expensive.

@@nightowl7261 a few reasons actually, the first is the insanly bad pull rates in evo skies, alt art v's are 1 out of every 82 packs whilst alt art vmaxes are one out of every 300 packs, theirs 6 alt art vmaxes so that means you have a 1 in 300 chance to have of having a 1 in 6 chance at getting a specific alt art vmax, or in otherwords the moonbreon and other specific alt art vmaxes are about 1 out of every 1,600 packs. to put that into perspective gold stars are considered some of the hardest cards to pull in pokemons history and they were 1 out of every 72 packs, sets also had less gold stars in them so the pull rate for specific gold stars was far better. and to put it further into perspective in each case of booster boxes theirs 6 booster boxes with 36 packs in each booster box. this means an entire case of booster boxes only has 216 packs. so that makes specfic alt art vmaxes 1 out of every 42 booster boxes or 1 out of every 7 cases. this means that if you want a specific alt art vmax out of evo skies you either need to get super lucky or rely on the secondary market which drives up the prices of all the aa vmax singles but especially the ones that have the most demand like ray ray and moonbreon. so that explains why evo skies alt art vmaxes in general are so valuable despite the set being printed like it was, now onto why the moonbreon is so much more valuable than the others. theirs a few reasons for this the first is that all eveelutions are super popular. the second is that umbreon is the most popular eveelution and is close to if not surpasses rayquaza in terms of popularity. popularity of the pokemon = more demand for the card. the third is that the artwork is really nice and whilst its not as good as the ray rays in my opinion it is good enough to drive alot of demand. and the fourth is that the evelutions operate as a collection in and of themselves meaning people will specifically try to collect all the evelution alt arts. this last one is important because it means that if you have all of them but the moonbreon you are going to be willing to pay more than you normally would in order to get the moonbreon just so you can complete your set. i know that was the case for me lol as i would not have been willing to spend 300 on the moonbreon if i did not already have all the other eveelution alt arts. i always say that a set that is nowhere near complete bothers collectors less than a set that is just missing one card. and i think this mindset is what drives people to pay more than they normally would for the moonbreon and is a major reason why it is dooing so well.

My dears, everything gets more expensive over time, even food. pokemon is number 1 general sales are sick. Even if it drops a little, over time it will become more expensive than anything else in the world. and the PoP up is extremely high which however shows it is popular like nothing else. 2020 was the turning point in Pokemon. a new generation is coming. Umbreon will be at 3-5k in 10-15 years and good BGS 10 5-6k. Black Label at 15-20K. Our children today will have stable jobs in 10 years and then buy their childhood cards, and there is Umbreon like our Charizard back then. + Charizard was in every 2 boxes but Umbreon 50+ boxes. whether tomorrow or in 2 years it doesn't matter at all. The plan is 10 years and believe me you will wish you had paid 1k today. lg
