Only because I haven't seen it in the comment or in this video, thought I'd mention Tasha's Hideous Laughter. Back when it was revealed it just seemed like the best mill card ever printed, that also just so happened to exile instead of mill. I went back and looked at it after watching this, and hadn't even realized it hits EACH player, exiling cards off the top until you exile 20 Mana Value or more total from EACH library. I legit think you could focus on just this card, trying to tutor it and reuse it, and probably exile everyone out. Also, its 3 mana and casting it once should already make Umbris lethal, it just hits so many cards. As a side note, coming from a player who absolutely hates losing to combos in casual games, I love the idea of running those search exile cards and just grabbing everyone's Kiki Jikki and Mikeaus and Ashnod's Altar and just getting them outta here. "Yea, you're welcome to beat me, you just gotta do it fair". Lmao

Oblivion Sower is a GREAT card for this deck. It exiles cards from their deck, but then checks for ALL lands that player owns in exile (not just the ones Sower hit) and puts them into play under your control.

my favorite card I put in my Umbris deck is Rite of Replication. you kick that on your commander on you get 30 of his triggers, since they trigger on themselves and the other ones coming in at the same time. won a game by exiling someones whole library at that point and then swinging 74 at the other opponent

I feel like Dauthi Embrace is a efficient and flavorful way to get your commander in there for this deck too, there are quite a few other creatures that want to hit too.. Phenomenal. I'm going to include it in my build!

Our playgroup has been building decks already around the new commanders ever since they were spoiled. And even play testing them and my friend built a flicker clone umbras deck. And after it was casted it got big quickly. It was kinda rediculous. After his first game he relized he needed to give his commander some sort of evasion. Because after he had already exiled about 12 or 13 cards he had swung at me and I took it (was building wall tribal) and I just was able to get out to many walls for blockers at a certain point and he was like yeah you win I can't get through your wall of defense. But it was a fun deck idea.

I use a combo of Leyline of the Void and Cacophony of Madness. Playing it for 2 mana mills 8 cards from each player's library, kick it for a total of 6 and it mills the top HALF of each opponent's library. Brutal...

Figured i would mention this here, as i dont see people mentioning it, but umbris is the perfect counter to a cultivator collosus/abundance deck. Enemy preforms the combo, syphons all lands put of their deck. Your turn, you play umbris and then they exile all their remaining cards and next turn they deck out.

One of the meanest ways to abuse the nightmare/horror ETB on the commander is using those spells to exile lands from their deck. You can also spread this exile around to avoid major targeting so everyone doesn't feel too thrown off their game. But most decks only have 30-38 lands, so any spell that can target and remove 10 of them suddenly makes that etb so much stronger

I've been wanting to build an exile deck for a long time now. I don't think Umbris quite does it for me, yet. I'm holding out for an esper commander. Get those juicy exile boardwipes and exile removal, get Kaya as a finisher, better control package, etc. Though Umbris still tempts me...

Leyline of the Void + Cacophony of Madness: 2 mana to mill 8 cards from each opponent, which would give Umbris +24/+24 if you need a quick and cheap mill buff. Otherwise you can kick it for a total of 6 mana to turn it into an all opponent hitting Traumatize, milling the top half of each opponent's library to their graveyard, which would then go to exile. Add in Oblivion Sower after this to put all lands in one players exile onto the battlefield under your control. Bounce and repeat through various means to add land from all opponents. 😜

I know i'm late to the party but i'm surprised you didn't throw in any blink spells. Blue is pretty good at blinking, especially with staples like Ghostly Flicker and Deadeye Navigator, plus it's kinda neat that Umbris doesn't lose it's boosts if it gets blinked. At the very least, it'd make a good suitable sub-theme for the deck, especially with Ravenous Chupacabra and the like.

Cool idea, i would definitely go for horrors and nightmares, but I’d also throw in eldrazi processors, could be some cool ways of using cards from exile like with oblivion sower

the biggest thing missing is all the Ashiok's all 3 exile opponents libraries Leyline of the Void effects is also missing since that guaranteed exile whenever i card is put into the graveyard from anywhere (ps for a 10 cards needs to be played catergory one its Planar Void) Oblivion Sower its not a horror/nightmare but if you exiled a bunch of lands you can just get them all into play with this plus it exiles 6 cards on cast Solve the Equation can get you that epic card when you are ready by far the biggest missings is Arcane Adaptation and Conspiracy it turns all the non horrors/nightmarers creatures to triggers Umbris

I would think using the search opponents decks would be for win cons but they don't know what you're searching for each time and since your commander exiles until a land is exiled if you search out all lands then play 1 horror you exile their entire library in one go, also helm of the host would be sick getting more and more triggers each turn and they are all huge

Hell yes didn’t see this new card. I’ve been fiddling with this deck idea since your last video. Been calling it surgical extraction but had Oona at the helm and it just didn’t mesh the way I wanted. I feel adding horror tribal is perfect way to fill the rest of my 99 with flavor n not just “good stuff”

They made, and included, commander specific cards in set and collector boosters. Anothee one is wedding ring. I was confused by it to, pulled a Umbris in a set booster, then got the commander decks a week later, and was looking for Umbris in the decks.
