For testing these stiffness tricks... Just drive it before and after. On an autocross trsck would be even better.
@FastMonty Жыл бұрын
@@jeffallen3382 Of course... I did the autocross before test. And, I've done the "not slowing down for this off ramp" test too... night and day difference, but how do you measure that? That's what I was trying to figure out. Thanks!

I did this on my 68. On the rear strut bar UMI should have welded the nut to the top side so you don’t have to fight to hold it in place. Great product though.

Hell yes! That woulda been brilliant! Agreed, I do like their stuff. Thanks for the comment!

Quick tip for those rear bolts that you did the one finger trick on. Take a shallow socket, put a piece of tape into it to take up space, put it on a long extension, and put the bolt washer into it. Feed it up into the hole like you did the drill and hold the nut with you're other hand. Turn the extension to thread the bolt into the nut. If you're twisting your body a lot to get the nut up there, just use longer extensions until you can use your other hand.

I have added the UMI front and rear sway bars with a definite increase in corning abilities. My car actually came with a rear sway bar so the newer one is thicker from. UMI. San I just add the front piece as you did? I am not sure how or why you did the frame measurements. I use a scissor lift and am not sure we tightened the bars down with full weight on the wheels. I will recheck rather than burn up the poly bushings. Please answer if time allows, thank you
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Awesome testimonial... I did the frame measurement to see if they actually made the frame stiffer. Otherwise, how else would you measure the before and after? As for loading the sway bar... it varies from car model to car model, but if you tighten all the linkages with the wheels hanging in the air, the pre-load on the bushings won't be the same as if pre-loaded while the car is static. Hope that helps...

I also have a 72 Monte with a complete aftermarket tubular suspension, swaybar and bilstein shocks and all new body mounts! Car rides beautifully but I am thinking of adding these for added strength for the stout small block I built. Can you gentleman comment on noticeable driving improvement after adding these braces?
@russbonneau91522 жыл бұрын
Monte, i have a chevy tubular transmission that direct bolts to the frame sides, would that be considered a frame stiffener of sorts?
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Well, not really... BUT, it is far improved over the stock stamped brace. It should dramatically help with holding the transmission in place, especially under load. Instead of sagging or "bouncing" in certain conditions. Great question!

I don’t think you are getting any extra with the 2 bars since you have the super duty brace . Trying to workout is the upgrade worth it ?? Rear bolts holding onto 1/8 steel if that Front bolts on sway bar mounts . Might be something you make to think about real points / double sided minting plates to mount to.

Good points... the front and rears do need further support, as the weld in kit only helps the mid section. Love the idea of top and bottom mount plates to sandwich the frame. I'm gonna research that some more. Thanks!

@FastMonty3 ай бұрын
@@user-qc7hr4my7r Thanks for the heads up... never heard of it. So, I looked it up... it looks bad ass. I also love that they're recommending the use of Rivnuts. I did a video on using those to strengthen the sway bar fitment; kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnXGoXSiZad2fK8si=4xzf4iB_M153zpfs Ironically enough, I'm in the middle of designing an A Body skid plate (to protect our oil pans), which mounts in the same location as this brace. Using both might dramatically increase the front stiffness. Will add to my review list. Thanks again!
