I don't think you can truly appreciate this piece until you've played it

I got to play this twice in my high school career. This piece and Watchmen, Tell Us of the Night are the ones that are still embed in my brain and never fail to make my soul move

It's pretty neat that they're actually using the bass oboe.

Dang, that's fine playing. The cat on bass saxophone at the end is an artist. Certainly a very different interpretation of the piece. I can't remember a performance outside of Don Wilcox doing it that had so much inner detail brought to the fore.

Grainger really knew how to utilize the full potential of the woodwind sections, truly. He didn’t neglect the low reeds. A lot of his pieces call for bass saxophone. (as well as contra-alto clarinet, contrabass clarinet, and contrabassoon, of course)
