One night in 2008 I had nothing better to do and went with a buddy of mine to see umphreys in Columbus having never heard them before. I’ve been hooked ever since and have been lucky enough to see them a handful of times since then!!

i saw them about 5 years ago on a head full of blotter not knowing anything about them before hand other than they jammed and were really good at their instruments. They literally pulverized me into a psychedelic goo.

Just saw them last night for the first time at Jannus Landing St pete Fla there first time there in Florida. They almost made me puke a few times I was rocking so hard. Alot of peeps around me never saw UM before and were blown away. They tore the fucking place up. The did Puppet String too. Rock so hard. So tight. Haha, when it comes to bands like Phish and Umphrey's, the last thing the fans are gonna do is respect your opinion (in the case that you don't agree with them 100%, that is). I personally like both bands, but they have some of the most fucking closeminded fans I've ever met. Cool, you like 22 minute guitar solos? Not everyone does. Like you said, at least you gave 'em a fair shake. I personally think there's way better "jam" music out there, myself.
