THANK YOU for explaining in detail why you use thin thread or when to use a 80 for the thorax and why and how to tie the subject fly. i.e., body, thorax, winds, head. Excellent!

I tied this pattern and found the super hair made today is much too thin to give this look . I even purchased two varieties of super hair with the same issue .

I noticed the same thing. I bought a 30 pack lot off of ebay and like 3 of them are thicker. All of the rest are thin. Unfortunately all of the thicker ones don't have a label. But yeah the 4 other brands that are labeled are all thinner. I assume they don't have a label because they're older.

Do you use this as a dropper behind a dry fly or on the bottom of the river as a nymph? If used behind a dry fly. What amount of space do you leave between them?

Charlie, No Tail? I have seen you tie them with and without a tail.
