Hands down this is the easiest bird I have ever flown. Love it. Super easy to land as well. If you can a good altitude with a bit of thermal it will stay there for 20 minutes easily with no throttle. Great review, and excellent tips and commentary. You hit all the right points of the larger gilders, practice, simulators and other flyers before pro flyer (the hot wheels model). :)

Great flying of this wonderful little glider, I to have a UMX Radian and after flying the little glider I had to get the 2 meter Radian and have made some in flight videos with a mobous on board.

That was one clear ,fantastic, indeph review, many thanks,I have been looking at the whippit ,but now am sold on the radian. Regards.

Very good coverage of the Radian. I get mine in a few days. Should be fun. Will be my first glider. Good one to learn on before I get a bigger one. Some really like the sail planes the best. Kind of the opposite of an EDF!

Theres no substitute to the big brother radian beautifully balanced Micros have a tendency to flutter around the place with much less authority.................its a weight thing for sure Thanks for sharing

Great review!!!! As far as fun and relaxing, what do you prefer? The Radian or the Duet? I have the Wltoys F959, have not flown it much. I love watching you fly both the Radian and Duet. Not sure which one to get.

HI I love this little plane....I have flown it as a trainer a lot and need to replace the propeller. I bought the replacement prop but don't want to do something wrong by forcing the old one off. I'd like to know how to take the old prop off and install the new one. Larry

Good job! What's the make and model of the little video camera?

nicely done think if we had a spot to put the Mobius cam, we be set.

I attached the Mobius with Velcro right on top, worked good for me! I made a video of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp-yloGAptuplbM It was a little windy when I filmed so it could have been smoother.

thank you appreciate the info and all back. Ihave the 808 as well Mobius. I think I will look into that . thanks again FISH

With this method of hanging the umx radian, my cat no longer chews the plane, but now tries to jump up and swipe at it lol ;)
@x-flight10159 жыл бұрын
Better just make the wing magnetic so I can easily put it in and out the box without risking loosing the screws or it being destroyed by cats :)

X-FLIGHT101 I don't know what it is with airplane foam but my cats love to chew it. Half my planes have pin holes in their wings.

It's still a great way to hang planes though lol ;)

how does the range of the MLP6DSM handle this bird?
@rwcorleyze8 жыл бұрын
Erik, You caution about Tx - I was thinking of trying this with the new DXe
@ErikSummer8 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Spektrum DXe uses DSMX so it'll bind just fine with the UMX Radian. Range will be good enough considering the small size of the Radian. I just would trust it if you planned on doing FPV.

I know I'm late to the party, but I'd better snap up a UMX Radian before they're discontinued. Looks like a lot of fun

is the axn floater better. Im thinking of buying on of the 2 i am leaning towards the axn?? i have heard very good views
@ErikSummer9 жыл бұрын
Joshua Pearson They're so different it's hard to say one's better. It's twice as big and the battery is almost 10 times bigger. I like how the Radian is a micro glider, if I had a large enough of a park I'd also get the axn, it's a good plane.
@skykink9 жыл бұрын
Erik, when you bind it to a DX6i, is it just standard settings with a simple bind or does anything have to be set? Also, is it just one mode or does it have a slow/fast choice of modes? Thanks. Great video BTW!
@ErikSummer9 жыл бұрын
+Sandy Scott It's a simple bind. It'll be all ready to fly and mine didn't even need any trim out of the box. If it's your first time flying, you might want to put in just a tiny bit of up trim to get it up high after the hand launch. It's just one mode with AS3X and full authority to do 3D flight. To turn off the stabilization you actually have to hook it up to a computer which I'll be showing in another video.

+Erik Summer Erik, thanks so much for the quick reply! Can't wait to fly it!

Do you think the runcam 2 is to heavy for this?
@ErikSummer7 жыл бұрын
The Runcam 2 is 49 grams, I was able to add a Mobius camera which is 40 grams. You can see the video of that here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp-yloGAptuplbM The extra 9 grams might be pushing it. Center of gravity would be very important. It's a tough call because the mobius flew on it without making it unstable but it did struggle climbing. As long as you don't live at a very high altitude I'd say probably, but I can't be 100% sure.
@Sam-w9des6 жыл бұрын
flew mine yesterday no wind and it flew like shit then a nosedive n the pavement not my first plane either idk what happened really it was like it was tail heavy but it wasn't however this is my first glider. (it did survive the nosedive)

Is there a way to kill the engine while the plane is in flight?
@ErikSummer7 жыл бұрын
Yes, just pull the throttle all the way down and the motor will stop and the blades will fold back.

I didn't see or hear one mention of setting the proper center of gravity. If you forgo this step you are really not going to have an enjoyable flight.

I had such a bad time with this plane. It is so fragile! Its like styrofoam (it probably is) and its very bad with wind!
@ErikSummer9 жыл бұрын
+Aaron S It is bad with wind! On a calm day though, it's a ton of fun. Most all micro planes are foam but their light weight does make more durable during a crash. Did yours break? You can get a replacement wing for only $21. I just got the umx b17g, all foam and about the same size as the Radian and it does not fly good in even a light wind. Early mornings are usually the best time to fly, nice calm dense air.
@aarons78369 жыл бұрын
Erik Summer It was a ton of fun in calm weather! Easy to fly and very relaxing. But why wpuld horizon hobby make it out of styrofoam? My vertical and horizontal stabilized has just snapped in storage and so did the fuse!!
@ErikSummer9 жыл бұрын
+Aaron S Usually they fit back in the box to keep them from breaking but unfortunately the Radian doesn't fit unless you take out the wing. I put a nail high up on the wall and hung it with some yarn to keep it out of danger.
@aarons78369 жыл бұрын
Erik Summer i know, thats what i did at first but than i lost one of the two screws and it went downhill from their. I had to use screws that were closest to those and the wing always moved around and the plane was no longer stable unfortunetley. Thanks for your replies!
