The Taliban has joined United Nations held talks on Afghanistan for the first time. The UN stressed the meeting was an initial engagement, and not recognition of the Taliban as the country's official government. Human rights groups have criticized the event for excluding the voices of Afghan women. Journalist and analyst Lynne O'Donnell tells The World's Beverley O'Connor the UN made major concessions to bring the Taliban to the discussion table.
