Given that the UN voted Iran onto the UN Women's Rights Commission, I would honestly wonder if that organisation is now fit for purpose and I am uncomfortable with the UK sending it's troops in support of such an organisation. The training for the troops is secondary, they are their to help local communities not only to provide actual man power there but I'm also sure aswell providing the locals with knowledge on how to avoid the threats they face when the army dose eventually leave. I think what their doing there regardless of what u think the intentions of the higher ups are doing if any, is commendable and brave. The locals face horrible challenges and conditions I'm sure. Also given the history between Europe and Africa, and cooperation with Africa's gov, I think it's the least we can do.
@redd_cat3 жыл бұрын
@@tepidbudgie If you're seriously bringing up our colonial past, then forget it. They were selling each other off for millennia and were all too happy to give us slaves in return for cheap goods. I'd wager that you were never taught about the North African pirates that abducted 10,000s of Europeans from our coastlines (including as far up as Southern Ireland and Cornwall (which is where Rule Britainia comes from)). The history of our involvement with Africa is far more complex than you think. Nothing we can do in Africa will permanently solve this problem. We owe them nothing.
@tepidbudgie3 жыл бұрын
@@redd_cat I'm sure it is. And yes nothing we can do will permanently solve Africa's problems. Its ultimately upto the country itself to do so. Let’s not beat around the bush, this ain’t no Afghan deployment, this is a seriously dangerous place! With the Taliban at least, they would fight from a concealed location, very rarely would you get a glimpse of who or how many you would be under contact from, it was a 360 degree conflict from concealed positions, frightening stuff when caught in the middle of it, but in Mali, the rebels won’t hide, they’ll charge at you in massive numbers and overwhelm young inexperienced soldiers, it’ll frighten the life out of the guys, it’ll take hardened veterans from Afghan by surprise to, I’d advise speaking to and gathering useful information on how to fight these guys from the US rangers that served in Somalia to get an idea of what the guys will be in for, it isn’t going to end well this one. Prepare to see the UK death toll rack up and fast, not to mention the injury rate, it’ll be a gruesome deployment, my advice to the boys is sign of now, because you aren’t going to get help from the army or the government when your legs or arms get blown off, or worse lose your eyes. To the lads that are about to be deployed, please heed my warning and leave, it just isn’t worth it, not for this country. Good luck to those of you that choose to go though, I hope you all come back safe.
