Hey Josh. Nice video. I know in your neck of the woods you're not too worried about drought but those sap barrels would double nicely as rain collection barrels for small plot irrigation. Regarding the sap, there are studies showing that carb solutions are generally beneficial to soil. If not in a sprayer, maybe in the compost pile. Check it out.

Interesting, I'll have to look into that!

You are going to have to build a syrup shack to keep everything together. Make it big enough for the boiler too. Keep it out of the weather.

I think building a sugar shack may be a summer 2025 project.....

I see by the amount of trees that you tapped this is a viable maybe product and probably continue doing for good money that will make your farming, ranching a little easier as time goes on and you invest in other equipment or something that will help in the endeavor your doing. Hopefully this product will be its own advertisement and be a good trade for spare time. I do know that spare time is only where you make it spare as everyday is work day for you. I can tell the fruit flies are going to be happy for the free drink before it becomes food for the soils. Since there are flies that like this as well, maybe next time instead of dumping all the extra, use it to capture those pesky insects and help wipe out some as well. Like making a fly strip that catches flies and they have to stay where they find their free "last" meal. Just a thought Josh

Sooo, how do you describe to someone who has never smelled it, the smell of sap that has gone bad? 😁
@LandisLegacyFarm9 ай бұрын
Well it depends which type of "gone bad"..... Syrup made from buddy sap smells to me like when you've pulled off your leather work boots after wearing them for the past 10hrs..... Sap that's sat in the barrel too long is a combination, of fermentation, something I can't quite describe, and a hint of pickles..... :)
