When I was about 5 I got a DVD for Thunderbirds are go the movie To this day I still have that DVD and I still love it I don't know what it is about old movies but I just love how they use models and practical effects rather than just CGI for everything because they didn't have that at the time they had to get quite inventive when they wanted to do certain scenes like spaceships alien attacks monster movies so on so forth You basically never see that now which I find a little sad because it's takes a special set of skills to do something like that well and when it is done well it's very enjoyable to watch because I can't help but think the amount of effort to the went into all the scenes Like in the DVD where the spacecraft get sabotaged all the skill that talking to making the model giving the explosions in pyrotechnics right in all combining all of that together to get the effect they wanted Because they've done it that well even though all the characters are puppets you get an exact idea of what their thinking and what their feeling regardless because of how well they put the scene together Pretty amazing for the time if you ask me to this day whenever I see practical effects put in the odd movie here in their it always makes me smile because even though we've moved on to more advanced things at CGI they still remember the lessons of the past era of movie making

my answer to 'why don't we see Gordon contacting base on his portrait' is that TB4 probably doesn't have the range from underwater - it can only reach TB2. The portrait is for when he is acting as TB2 relief pilot (which is canon)

Also equally for when he's operating TB5, as I'm pretty sure everyone rotates, canonically at least, as pilot of TB5.

There was one time when they could have had Gordon speak through his portrait, in Terror in New York city he launches Thunderbird 4 using emergency procedure (directly from the island instead of Pod 4), and Jeff speaks to him using his watch. Using the interior diagram of The Hood’s temple from the 1990’s Thunderbirds magazine as a reference, the description notes explain, that the Hoods many connections in the criminal underworld helped him build and acquire his vast array of vehicles. Also, it explains The Hood most probably bought the temple as it is over a 100 years old, but had it modified and extended for his uses. Lady Penelope was well aware of Parker’s past. In Vault of Death, he recalls an experience whilst in prison. She knew he didn’t have a perfect past, but he was hired for his loyalty. His previous crimes were likely to have been largely petty than anything sinister. As with Spielberg, when you are able to bring the viewer into the realms of believabity, some minor floors become unimportant. For example, another point you could raise is, several of the puppets were used as different characters in other episodes, but I think this just add to the charm of the whole series. Once your watching it, you are able to forget the strings, and appreciate the layers of the characters and storyline. That’s the genius of it right there.

Excellent questions! I got some good laughs out of this video; thanks for making it. Very entertaining. And oh, so many more questions. Why do astronauts never have any control over the emergency features of their vehicles, they always rely on radio beams from Cape Canaveral? Why in "Sun Probe," if the aforementioned beam is necessary, how can TB1's beam not come even close to reaching the probe when TB1 is close enough that the Tracys pass out from the heat, but the beam from TB2 works just fine from Earth? And why did TB2 in that episode go--not to the TOP of a mountain so they could shoot a radio beam into space--but sort of CLOSE TO THE TOP of a mountain? My number one favourite "WHA?!?" bit from Thunderbirds though was in the episode where Penelope is dining in a sidewalk bistro ("Perils of Penelope" maybe?), why does Parker sit in FAB-1, observe that her Pernod is being poisoned, wait until it's served and she has the glass up to her lips, and then shoot it out of her hand with the gun in the grill of the Rolls Royce---in public, mind you!--instead of getting out of the car and apprehending the poisoner in the act, walking up and whispering to Penelope that the drink is poisoned, or at least just screaming out, "NO M'LADY!!!"? I really hope there wasn't anybody in the line of fire when Parker got so trigger happy.

0:45, does Kyrano have conscious knowledge of it? 1:13, given the amount of pod-vehicles vs number of pods, it's safe to assume that some swapping may occur. (EG: "we need to load up firefly for this mission." "Except for pod 3, which currently holds the mole, all are prepared with equipment for the monsoon-floods we're expecting." "pod 3 it is then.") 1:46, One of the episodes suggests that they have to deal with private flights detoured from/looking for the nearby island of Moira landing on Tracey Island every now and then. 2:12, different tech-base. (My father once fixed an ESA technician's PC up for the same reason) 3:38, given the full situation, it's likely to assume that those that heard it we're already informed about 'cinematics' being carried out. (with the exception of the constable, for realism's sake) 4:14 second building seems to be a mid-renovation substitute. 5:44, full title should be "Danger at Ocean Pioneer's Deep tanks" but that would reveal too much about the plot. 5:55, acting for two. 6:27, the purpose of a vacation trip is to experience something exotic ... for him living in a tropical environment is *mundane.*

Regarding The Hood taking photos of TB1, I once read the autobiography of an RAF pilot who was asked to fly at virtually zero feet over the Mediterranean to get photos of a Soviet warship because some sort of opening was just visible above the waterline and our boys obviously thought that a photo of this whatever it was might be useful. Photos of the enemy's stuff are regarded as useful.

6:04 John does his hair to make himself feel good, doesn't need to do it for anyone else! Also the Hood's newspapers are delivered by long distance light weight drones, You'd have to imagine that's also how Tracy Island gets the supplies (only in something more van size, much handier having a full runway as well)

Why does everything need to explode in flames, even if it's an inert structure of concrete or steel lattice, and is already drenched? (I like to use the phrase "negligent inclusion of sodding great quantities of dynamite".) Why is the disaster never a forest fire caused by their landing rockets? Lady Penelope's gardener: "How does you get a lawn to look like this? You mows it and rolls it for 300 years, and then have a couple of _bastards_ land their rocketships on it!"

In the paperback novels, it's stated that The Mole has a forward hatch just behind the drilling screw. Hy, pretty good questions you’ve asked. I may have some answers: -3:36 Nobody heard the explosion because it exploded exactly when Big Ben rang. -3:42 They are here to see from their own eyes that The Bank of England’s safe can be easily opened by a single one thief in a couple of hours. The fact is that Sir Jeremy, the bank manager has told to everyone in charge of the security in the government that it had to be replaced by a modern safe but he was never listened until Parker broke in under all these people surprise !! -3:54 The crooks are pursuing Lady Penelope to let time to the Monorail Crook who’s at the same time at Lady Penelope’s Mansion to disabled the alarm and located the jewel safe in the aim of a future illegal investment. 3:57 Brain is doing some test on something which is described in the episode. Unfortunately Alan is erupting and putting an end to them. For the resemblance of the submarine with the Hood’s one, we can say they didn’t have a lot of choice for taking another one. It was this one or the military one in Atlantic Inferno. -4:00 The answer is that they wanted to re-organise the city of NYC and for some reason the Empire State Building wasn’t matching with the architectural projects. Another reason would have been that he was a wrong place and was taking to much space according to what they could have done to welcome more new citizens. 4:18 Called it Duchess ”caprices“ or the pleasure of being driven in an armed car. Safety before all ! 4:38 Policemen didn’t have spikes or other methods. They seem to be not brilliant people too. As you can hear it a little bit after, they are waiting the man to get back to his car to ask him questions about his madness driving way instead of trying to reach him by the elevator or stairs. Hopefully for the employee because it would have killed him. 5:15 In Cry Wolf, Jeff wanted to please the kids because they had good intentions and it have been a good lesson for them to learn how it was important not to send fake alert on their potential danger. Otherwise I’m Atlantic Inferno Jeff thought that no one was in danger and also that the army could have carried this case which was for him a simple fire. Not International Rescue business. -5:25 He got back from a job and took it. He then check the intel he had and saw that it was matching with the newspaper’s one. 5:36 The title comes from the gaz: OD60 which itself comes from the ocean soils (under). I agree it should have been ”from“. 5:41 When Lady Penelope is investigating, an expert showed her where they were exploiting this gaz. The map is pointing many pith in the Pacific Ocean and a new one in the Mediterranean Sea. If they had titled it “Sea” the suspense wouldn’t have been containing this question and wouldn’t have been what he is. 5:52 It’s his twin (joke). 5:58 Maybe the villain who brought the painting try to cut it to avoid problems in case of a bad deal with Dandrigde. He just forgot the personal assistant line. 6:02 He’s the youngest brother = Another fashion time. !! Thanks you !!

No-one noticed that Jeff and 5 other guys called Tracy had strangely familiar voices? 2) And NO- ONE had any radar which could enable them to track the craft? The words would be in reverse to anyone viewing from space. But then again... why advertise a secret 'command/communications platform'?

ok so I made a massive comment with my questions, let's try to answer a couple of yours Who built The Hood's statue of Kyrano? Probably some artist to whom The Hood paid good money (he's clearly rich) and told to not ask questions Does The Hood own his temple, and if so who did he buy it from? Or did he build it himself? Probably the same answer as the first question. "Build this and don't ask why. I'll pay good money" Does someone have to fly to mainland every week to buy food and supplies? Since there's a mail plane that visits the island, there's probably another one (if not the same plane) that brings in supplies. How does Scott lug his mobile control unit from Thunderbird 1 to the danger zone? Probably machines help him How does Commander Norman still have a job? Can you really blame him for what happened? Why is Operation Cover-Up used for no reason during The Mighty Atom and Operation Crash-Dive? They were probably tired of the IR pictures and wanted to see the casual ones instead How did one minor car crash cause this fire? Cars that burn easily and literally every single anti-fire system outside of the corridor doors failed to operate. How did they all fail at the same time? No idea. Why does this diagram imply the solarnauts are located in the probe section of the Sun Probe? Not answer, just a comment: that bothered me for a long time! It made me think they actually were in the probe, but then what they say when launching the probe and the whole "it's getting real hot in here" situation doesn't make sense. Took me a while to realise that the diagram was wrong. How will photographing the exteriors of the Thunderbird craft make the Hood rich? Easy! Since IR are secretive to the point that no photographs are ever allowed, any picture showing the Thunderbird craft or the men operating them is worth a fortune! Even better if it's a video! How did Brains get the crippled Thunderbird 1 back to Tracy Island for repairs? Probably had Thunderbird 2 fitted to carry Thunderbird 1 for the trip How did the imposters create perfectly accurate replicas of the IR uniforms and emblem without any reference photographs? Probably managed to be there at a lot of IR rescues and had sketchbooks in hand Why is Lady Penelope being pursued by these two crooks in Brink of Disaster? Probably has a bunch of enemies we don't know about I guess? Why is Cape Kennedy launch control centre in this building in Sun Probe, but this building in The Perils of Penelope? If it's the same launching, then I have no idea, but if it's a different Sun Probe rocket being launched (like what happened for the Apollo missions), then they probably renovated the launch control centre in between launches. Looking at how each centre looks, it's pretty easy to guess that the one in The Perils of Penelope is the old one and the one in Sun Probe is the new one. Or maybe the one in Sun Probe is the main one, it's being renovated, so in The Perils of Penelope, they use that one as a backup? Why is there a large gap in the middle of the road block from 30 Minutes after Noon? Looking at the scene, Prescott clearly hit both cop cars and so likely damaged his own. They probably thought he wouldn't want to damage his car and therefore would stop. What on Earth happens to Thunderbird 4 at the climax of Terror in New York City? Gordon escapes the rockfall and everyone lives duh Where did The Hood get this newspaper from in Cry Wolf? Probably gets it delivered to his temple by some form of transportation like the Tracy family does for mail and probably supplies Why is the episode Danger at Ocean Deep called Danger at Ocean Deep? Because half the source of the danger, O.D 60, lies at the bottom of the sea, and because Ocean sounds cooler than Sea. Why does the videophone cut out during Penelope's call with Dandridge after working out that the Dutchess of Royston has been kidnapped? Probably the kidnappers trying, but failing, to stop Dandridge from telling Penelope that the Dutchess hasn't arrived yet. Why? No idea Why doesn't Alan know how to use furniture properly? probably thinks it looks cool. If Star Trek The Next Generation exists in that universe, he's probably a fan of the Ryker Manoeuvre. Why does John bother to do his hair every morning? Either he doesn't like to have messy hair when he looks at himself in the mirror, he puts a lot of importance on his looks for when he calls base or he knows that there's a TV show about the adventures of his organisation and wants to look good in front of the cameras. What happened to the giant alligators at the end of Attack of the Alligators? They were left there to live probably. A real question would be what is to happen to Alan's alligator? It's gonna grow up and might become a danger for the family, are they just gonna deport it elsewhere? that's all the answers I could come up with.

plazasta As for the one about cameras; I’m pretty sure that’s more like “How is filming the craft going to give away their secrets in the first place”- Really the only thing they should be worrying about is people seeing their faces. And their father is a multi-millionaire, so you’d think SOMEBODY would recognise them on one of their missions, and I mean they even freely give out not only their first names, but their *Last names* as well.

4:08 I just assumed that the Cape Kennedy launch control centre was a large complex and had many different buildings. Here's a question, in the final episode "Give or Take a Million", why couldn't John have joined everyone on Tracy Island for Christmas, set up some sort of security system for the temporarily unmanned Thunderbird 5 and reroute communications to Tracy Island in case anyone did try to call International Rescue during Christmas? It could have been one of the rare times where Jeff got to see all his five sons together. But instead, John spent Christmas on his own up on Thunderbird 5.

Here are some plausible answers i have: Maybe Kyrano didn't know about his relation to the Hood. Its Possible that Operation cover up might be in use as they might fancy something more casual than their continuous work. The Fellow who played Numerous "Mar-Shen Zam-bee Pah-ts" may have been acting in similar roles as come on even nowadays many ideas get recycled, he may be a typecast actor in a future equivalent of a Roger Corman picture. The Impostors may have gotten photographs of the team themselves, because only the Thunderbird crafts (best my knowledge) have detectors for Cameras. A possible answer for the Commander of Ocean 1 being alive is that this was an advanced vessel, can they not have life boats or procedures for this kind of emergency.

As far as John Tracy being all alone on TB5, and what he does, and why he does it...you try being all alone on a space station for extended lengths of time, scanning the Earth with slightly futuristic technology for calls for rescue, with no one to talk to, nothing else to do, and see if your sanity can rise to the challenge. The writers never considered John's psychiatric problems, his odd habits due to isolation and stress, and his general disconnection from the rest of humanity...and if they had, Gerry and Sylvia wouldn't have based an episode on it, because the show was about action and explosions, not John Tracy going into therapy and Alan refusing to take over TB5 permanently...

How does the couch transit to TB3 work as it should overlap with TB1's hangar and the tunnel to its launch bay? Don't guests notice that it is impossible to access most of the Tracy Villa? Why is Pod 6 in backwards in the Perils of Penelope? (And why doesn't that episode have a title card?)I love this show but there are a lot of unanswerable questions.

The access to the Thunderbird 1&2 hangars is to the rear of the house, and these DO cross - if you look in Thunderbird 1's hangar, you can see the outside of Thunderbird 2's entry chute emerging from the wall, and dipping down. Thunderbird 3, on the other hand, is some distance from the house, to the right, if you were able to stand in the lounge looking out to sea. The access tunnel seems a lot deeper than that of the other craft hangars. The only question I had was about the replacement couch, but that's quite complicated, and only answered satisfactorily in the 'Haynes' Thunderbirds Technical manual. The house is on several levels, including the balcony above Thunderbird 2's hangar, which is a fair way down the cliff from the rest of the house. I'm old enough to not know a time when there wasn't Thunderbirds, and my love of the show has taken up a great deal of my time. An awful lot of these questions have crossed my mind at some time or other - like 'The Hood's Temple': that's easy. He saw it, wanted it, killed the inhabitants, and moved in. He probably has supplies dropped by heli-jet from a local trading post. He must make his own masks and bogus costumes, so knocking up a statue of his brother would have been simple. Kyrano was hypnotised by the Hood many years before, to forget him. The Hood's telepathic attacks cause seizure like symptoms in Kyrano, making it even harder for him to remember.

Jetshot 22 - TV21 comic was always set 100 years ahead, so 2065 became the default setting. TV21 was interesting, because all of Gerry Anderson's shows existed in a shared universe, leading to arcing storylines featuring Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds, Zero-X (from the 1966 'Thunderbirds Are Go! movie) and Captain Scarlet. The Sidewinder, from the Thunderbirds epidode 'Pit Of Peril' actually appeared in a TV21 comic strip before Thunderbirds was aired on TV. Lady Penelope and Parker had their own comic strip before Thunderbirds did, acting as a lead in to the new show. Supercar, being set in the late 20th century, was left out, as was Joe 90, who had his own comic. But 2065 is the default date.

IIRC Scarlet is set 30 years before Thunderbirds. Kinda canon-breaking considering the first Zero-X launch is in Thunderbirds The Movie which would technically be 2060s/70s. Eh, who knows?

in Trapped In The Sky, the Fireflash crew mention that theyre radiation shield would run it, but wasnt the nuclear engines also powering the shields at the same time?
@stu1701E4 жыл бұрын
I don't think they're energy shields, like force fields, but rather passive or ablative shields which are only effective for a limited time before overheating or losing their effectiveness.

Here is the ultimate unanswerable question for you,If International Rescue were so secretive & no pictures or video was permitted by the media during any of their rescues,fiming of their craft was forbidden even TB1 had an automatic camera detector. How the #%@!! did they manage to film the series in the first place??????????????

Biggest question that I had when I was a child and watched Thunderbirds for the first time... *How the holy fudge did Virgil managed to cram 4 Elevator cars in one little pod?*

If anyone intelligent did a parody of Thunderbirds, this is the kind of thing they’d focus on instead of picking on the excellent puppetry.

Scots mobile command is sometimes carried by those he meets on rescues or it simply has it's own transport rig.

Milo spesh - Yup. It's mentioned, at least once, that he has help from police at a danger zone.

I believe there's a bigger question to be asked than "why does John bother to do his hair every morning?" and that is, "Why is John voiced by Jun Fukushima, the VA of Kazuma from Konosuba, in the Thunderbirds Are Go movie!?"

1:11. The reason why the Mole is carried in Pod 5 for Pit of Peril is that Pod 5 has an onboard Labatory in the rear of the Pod and Scott informed Base they needed Brains along.

This was a children’s program from the mid 1960’s not something that overpaid underworked nuclear scientists need to be worried about.

Question: what happened to fab 1 at the end of thunderbird 6. It was being carried around the globe on skyship one and they never ejected it out during the rescue. Did it get destroyed along with skyship one??
@darthdmc6 жыл бұрын
Apparently, it did get destroyed.
@zacmumblethunder74666 жыл бұрын
it's why the franchise ended. FAB 1 was actually the property of the puppet who played Lady P, in the same way the Whomobile in Dr Who was Jon Pertwee's property. The puppet had not given consent for the car to be destroyed and her out of court settlement from the Anderson's used up the budget for any further series.
@womble1981 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was destroyed. It’s okay though - if the series has any moral it is that vehicles are replaceable.

There are so many editing bloopers from Gerry Anderson series that it would fill a book. For example, the double splash from the opening titles for Supercar, which was down to the crew discovering that the model of Supercar was buoyant on water. Or the piece of debris hitting the background of the target being detonated in the Thunderbirds episode "Trapped in the Sky," or the very human hand pushing over the bridge from the pack ice to Hotspot Tower in the Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons episode "Noose of Ice,"

I have 2 questions about the episode “The Imposters”. 1) Why don’t General Lambert’s men not track Thunderbird 5 but will track the other Thunderbirds? 2) Why doesn’t Scott not move his lips at the end of the episode? The reason why the car crash in “City of Fire” was because cars run on fuel.
