I went back in time, to the 'before' time, and went to Washington Skippers (1984) and had their All You Can Eat. Just fish, chips, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, malt vinegar, ketchup, drinks, and NO salty, thin fish

From Melbourne Australia I love love British fish and chips with mushy peas. I also love a meat pie with mushy peas. There is no way you would get a piece of fish that big in Melbourne.

Mushy peas are made from whole marrowfat peas. They are cooked in bicarbonate for 10 minutes. They are then drained and fresh water added with seasoning, then cooked to a pulp No chips in the UK are made from mash potato. They are all made from fresh cut potato. I like your fish supper challenges. Your passion for our fish is immeasurable 😁 Pop some vinegar on the peas. It tastes great.

Ketchup on fish is a sin ... chips okay but never on the fish. I believe England even has a law punishable by beheading at a Castle in central London, but havent enforced the law in many decades. Only lemon, salt & vinegar & tartar sauce are acceptable on fish in English Law.

Some people really like to mix a bit of vinegar in with the mushy peas. If you go to Scotland try Anstruther Fish Bar. That’s my favourite out of the whole country.

I like to put the salt and vinegar on the fish and chips together at the start. Then I dip stuff in the curry sauce. I’ve never seen English mustard in with tartar before. That seems worth trying though.
