Unbelievable AIRBUS A380 CROSSWIND LANDING, GO AROUND + SHARP RIGHT TURN during a STORM (4K)

Who wants to take a roller coaster ride in an Airbus A380? Yesterday a storm crossed the netherlands and I filmed my first Airbus A380 go around at Amsterdam Schiphol. The pilots had to deal with wind gusts up to 45 knots and the crew of this Airbus A380 decided to abort the landing attempt and go around. The go around procedure of Schiphols runway 18R is amazing anyway, but watching an Airbus A380 turn into a sharp right turn after the go around is something you usually only see at the Paris Air Show.
The second landing attempt was difficult aswell but the pilots handled everything in a professional way. The Airbus A380 is a stable aircraft and although I often film at airports during crosswind conditions I have never seen an A380 crew initiate a go around within the past seven years.
I also included a few Boeing 747 crosswind landings and other big planes I filmed yesterday at Amsterdam Schiphol. The traffic was great, just the rain was a little annoying but I am quite content with the footage and it was totally worth it.

I have to admit.. an extraordinary machine, built by extraordinary people and flown by extraordinary pilots.. all top-notch pros at the pinnacle of their professions. I will dearly miss the a380 when it's short-lived existence comes to an end. What an absolutely amazing sight to see and marvel of engineering. My complete admiration and respect.

@KZbin UserThe a380 can be upwards of 500tons and on crosswinds like this, the force on the wheels is actually more than the weight so upwards of 600 tons on the wheels! The wheels and suspension has to engineered so perfectly.

Question to a pilot here: Are crosswind landings easier with larger airplanes, since they are heavier and not so much pushed by the wind compared to a small airplane? Do they have higher crosswind limits then?

Years ago I was watching a 747 making a cross-wind landing at Kai Tak in Hong Kong and waited for it to wipe the undercarriage off - the touchdown angle was so extreme. Someone who knows more about these things than I do told me that the 747 undercarriage is designed to withstand landings of 45 degrees to the line of flight. I presume that the 380 has similar requirements designed into its undercarriage.

I got a question for airline personal. When you land sideways (for christ sake) doesnt the landing gear get tweeked out. Or does it go into the shop afterwards. Or do you log it and keep flying. Ive never seen anything like what ive been watching. Im hooked on this type of reality tv. The passenger's must freek the fuck out. Sideways , really. Everyone ive shown these vids to had no idea . @@stevenvalvana2024 Planes should not land traversed. That would be dangerous. Pilots will line up with the runway using the rudder just before touchdown so the plane turns around the top-axis. They can do so because wind speed is generally much less at ground level. Watch for this in the video's. Sometimes is easy to see, other times it is not.

Marijn fly I can’t speak for airbus but boeing sometimes even recommends touching down sideways, there are some conditions for it however in their manuals but in the right circumstances its not a big deal to the landing gears :)

However the skills you all have is amazing. The responsibility to hold so many lives in your hands daily deserves a place in history to be admired. I commend these magnificent pilots for handling these airplanes under windy conditions. Safety of all of the people on board, was top priority with these guys. These Pilots are amazing. I one time flew into Maui from California Anna Pond Landing I could look out the window and see the runway that we were landing on. Needless to say I had a feeling of uncertainty, but thanks to the skill of the pilots I'm here to tell you about it

As a student pilot, I flew into Maui on my solo long x-country. From the time I turned base to final, I was bounced around like a ping pong ball and it was all I could do to stay lined up with centerline. As I flared the aircraft, I got caught in ground effect and floated for, what seemed like, half the runway. The landing wasn't pretty....but it was mine. I spent the next half hour in the FBO lounge just trying to get settled down for the rest of the trip. Maui is no joke. But as they say, if you can learn to land there, you can land anywhere.
