It shows that we should not heed any word above God's word, whether from an angel or a prophet basically God's word is final and no one can change it . The only confusing aspect is the profound irony that the old prophet mourned for the man of God, despite knowing that his own deceit would lead to the man's death. This paradox highlights the complexity of human behavior, where guilt and regret can coexist with deceit, and serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of straying from divine commands, regardless of the source of the temptation. I am so happy that we have such good content creators for God this type of content is good for the new generation and I feel like we are all one big family thank you so much for all you do may God bless you .

About your 3: this is just based from my casual reading of 1 Kings 13, kindly check to see if interpretation is Biblical/accurate: I COULD BE WRONG, SO PLEASE CHECK FOR YOURSELF: 1. The way the old prophet deceived the young prophet is peculiar, in that he said "an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord", usually a prophet when declaring a prophecy will say "thus saith the Lord", not "an angel said...." See verses below: Fake: -"He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and AN ANGEL SPAKE UNTO ME BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him." Real prophecy from 1 Kings 13: -"And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, THUS SAITH THE LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee." -"And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign WHICH THE LORD HATH SPOKEN; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out." -"For so was it charged me BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest." -"For it was said to me BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest." -"And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, THUS SAITH THE LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee," 2. Because of what happened to the younger prophet when he disobeyed the word of the Lord that came to him, the old prophet knows for a certain that the young prophet's prophecy is definitely true: -"For the saying which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, SHALL SURELY COME TO PASS." 3. I find it interesting the lion didn't eat the guy. -"the lion had not eaten the carcase," Anyway, that's my take on it from casual reading. God bless

The story of a prophet reminds me of the nature of a God. God never lies. If there would be someone on the road that would give the guy the meal - He would mention it. But He didn't. Instead, the young man believed someone claiming to hear the word of God and being His prohpet. Imagine Jesus encountering someone saying "Hey, I just spoke with your Father and He said you actually don't need to die. That was a test and you completed it...." Remember in Matthew 16:22-28 when Jesus actually rebuked Peter for saying "Those things will never happen to you..."(Jesus was explaining that He needs to go to Jerusalem, be mocked and get killed). Perhaps this story is a reminder for us Christians to TRUST our God, instead of believing someone who claims there is another encounter of Jesus, angels or another way of salvation despite Jesus... This gives me chills even when I'm writing this... such a deep message.

I always thought to myself why didn't God alert the young prophet but what you both said makes sense. Also it should've been the younger prophets responsibility to at least inquire of God as scripture tells us to test every spirit. Then he would know if the command was actually from God. I believe Pslams 118.8 can be applied here " it is better to put trust in God than put confidence In men". We know we need to be as wise as serpent but as innocent as doves (matthew 10.16) because there are false prophets who come as wolves in sheep's clothing [matthew 7.15] which bible calls ravenous. I know that the donkey and lion symbolizes something but I am unsure right now so if anyone can give suggestions it would be great thanks.

“God is above time,space and matter.” - I think this line kind of sums up all our doubts when people come at Christians from a scientific viewpoint. If God is the creator he has the power to manipulate the laws of physics/chemistry/biology/etc. just how a coder has the power to make changes to a game he created. Naturally yes there are things that are possible and things that are not possible but with the creator/coder everything is possible.

God is indeed Time, Space and Matter. But he is also Energy and Thought. Omnipresence means that since God's power and knowledge extend to all parts of his creation, he himself is present everywhere. God did not create the Creation as something separate from himself. If it was separate, he could not be Omnipresent. God IS The Creation, which forever extends itself into and through you, me, and everyone and everything else. God created all that is by extending his Thought, and retaining the extensions of his Thought in his own mind. We are in Gods mind, just as God is in our Mind. Jesus - "I am in The Father, and The Father is in me..." We 'Love our neighbors as ourselves' because THEY ARE OURSELVES. God isn't just the Coder, he is the game, for God is One:)

@@TheSunnyTrailsLike Saul who renamed Paul. In fact, we know through Bible that God don’t talk everything about him (obviously). 1 Corinthiens 13:9-10 For example, people always say you must to recognize that Jesus died for our sin and that God exist for receive faith or some people think you need to be baptism bu a human for receive faith from God. Personally, when I received faith I was agnostic. So, in reality, like Bible himself said, faith is a gift from God not human. And we know that God want everybody is saved. So, that’s why, I think everyone once time in their life will receive faith. The hard part is to keep your faith ALIVE. That being said, I think « faith » is more complex than this. In all case, it’s better to everyone to be careful and just listen Bible. So, you don’t need to believe at 100% why I am saying. I can be a liar and inluence you to believe in a false teaching. Believe in Bible, only Bible but keep in your mind that God don’t reveal what all he can do.

Yeah I think this might be it cause I went to read it on my own and I was confused at how God gave him to ability to heal and gave him specific instructions but the minute the old prophet told him God said otherwise, the young prophet didn’t bother to question it or even confirm with God if what the old prophet said was true. AND THEN for the old prophet to turn around and say “you defied God” like he didn’t just lie to the young prophet. Like if this doesn’t scream USE YOUR DISCERNMENT, idk what else to say 😭

I personally believe this story is about being obedient to God’s word above anyone else. God’s word which is scripture is above any of the “God told me to tell you” stories we hear about especially today. God then used the false prophet to let the young prophet know that judgement has passed upon him for failing to obey his word above anyone else’s. In our day we hear a lot especially in churches people saying “God told me to tell you” stuff that majority of the time isn’t even biblical. Nothing supersedes the word of God. If He tells you something we are to trust in His word and not someone else’s who claims they got word from God. We are to be careful of this deception. God is clearly telling us that in this story.

I actually needed to hear this today. Thanks! I had a similar thought as I watched the video, but I didn't make the connection to my own life, something that happened recently, until I read your comment. The thing that came to my mind as he was sharing about the third story was something my mom told me a couple times when I was a little girl. If a guy ever told me, "God told me to date you," that unless I heard the same thing from God, I should assume the guy is just lying to be with me. Same applies for marriage. 😂

Hot take. #3 is about Jesus and his death. The man of God was from the tribe of Judah (like Jesus) and spoke against the Jewish leaders of his time (like Jesus). He healed the withered hand of the man that tried to seize him, just like Jesus healed the ear of the guard that tried to seize him. When he healed people they wanted to lift him up and reward him. But the man refused and said he was on a mission from God. Just like Jesus did when they kept trying to make him king. He got his bread and water from God, not man, and was to make a new path. The old prophet was the Pharisee’s of his time - although he used to hear from God, he used his position to lie and ended up getting the man of God killed for his sin. He was killed by a lion, symbolising God’s judgement, whilst riding a donkey, symbolising God’s humility like Jesus riding into Jerusalem. And his death was a clear sign to all that witnessed it, with the lion and donkey standing in juxtaposition, both symbolically and even literally with the two men on the cross (one accusing him and the other humbly recognising him). The old prophet then gets his body and buries him in his own tomb, symbolising that his death was in the place of the old prophet and reinforced by the fact he requested to be buried with him (again this literally happened to Jesus and figuratively represents our death with him). In the end what the man says comes to pass and the altar is destroyed, just like Jerusalem was in AD70 like Jesus claimed before they killed him.

Standing between heaven and earth could mean floating in the air and his sword "over" Jerusalem sounds more like a phrase, indicating he would be pointing toward Jerusalem. And yet... We tend to imagine angels as human-like, and there are plenty of such descriptions, but who knows? But to me, a giant angel isn't the first indication I get from the text. The place I understand the Bible depicting a giant angel is in Revelation - the one standing both on shore and stepping in the sea.
@CaptainAbmerica
@CaptainAbmerica 26 күн бұрын
It says he was STANDING, not floating, in the threshing floor of a Jebusite name Ornan, a threshing floor is a flat, circular stone outdoor surface where farmers separate grain from straw and husks to prepare the harvest. It even says he turned around and saw him because he was so close, yet says David "Looked up" to see him. So if he was standing not floating so close to the Jebusite that all he had to do was turn around, yet due to his stature David was able to look up and see him from where he was in order for both these to be true he had to be a giant. Not floating.

#3 is a story cautioning us about peer pressure when we've been given a command from God. The focus was on the young prophet's obedience, NOT the old prophet's lie. Matthew 18:7 tells us that temptation is necessary. This man's mission needed to be challenged, and the old prophet was the guy to do it. God will judge him for his sin, because Matthew 18:7 also condemns those who tempt others, but God judged the young prophet because he disobeyed a direct command from God to him specifically, and that kind of sin could not go unpunished. The old prophet escaped by a loophole, but...Judgment Day is still coming, and he will not escape then.

I have no idea whether or not this could be reasonably explained away, but I believe one day some months ago God briefly gave me a little bit of super speed. I had taken longer than usual in the bathroom due to some unpleasant and prolonged bowel movements, and I was going to be ten minutes late to daily Mass. The walk would ordinarily have been about 20 minutes for that distance, about 0.8 miles on hilly terrain. But I felt called to pray something called the “preparation for mass”, involving St. Ambrose’s prayer, St. Thomas Aquinas’s prayer, a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a Formula of Intent. While praying this, I walked at what I felt to be a normal, if slightly rushed, pace. By the grace of God, I made the 20 minute walk in only 11 minutes and arrived less than a minute late to the Mass. Take this however you will, but I think it’s a pretty cool little glory story 😁 Vivat Jesus!

The story of the prophet is quite simple and its strange as I was discussing this last weekend. The young prophet believed the word of a man and not God, the young prophet stayed true to the obedience of God's commands until this points where he then believes the word of man where he should have consulted God first. This is also a cautionary tale which teaches us to beware of the words spoken "over us" or "to us" from people who call themselves prophets. We have to test every word we receive with the spirit and The Lord will confirm this for us, just as with Elijah which He called him 3 times. On another hand it also stays true to God's Word and promises stating that IF a man is a prophet and speaks on behalf of God no false word or false prophecy will leave his lips and go unpunished. True to God's Character

The Angel of the Lord, which David saw, wasn't anyone else than YHWH Himself, i.e., pre-incarnation Jesus. It's incredibly mind-blowing thinking that way, and the text indicates that this is almost plausible.

Immediately in the Bible often is used to indicate urgency or intentionality rather than expediency. It was explained to me as simply how their culture spoke. There's also cultural differences such that the order of events in retellings are often given in order of importance rather than chronologically.

9:34 this story highlights the difference between doing what you know God told you to do or doing something that someone else said God told you to do. Kinda like a mirror image of The Fall of Man in Eden. The young prophet had to decide whether to believe God's own words, or the words of another claiming to have heard from God.

The old profit and young story I feel like mirrors Paul’s journey back to Rome. When other men of the lord were prophesying that Paul would be arrested and killed and urged him not to go. But Paul was following what the lord told him to do and would do nothing other then what the lord told him even if it lead him to his death. But it just goes to show we must finish the task the lord has given us personally, and if someone comes with a message from the be lord we test those messages by taking them to the Lord

I knew all five! 1: I'm not sure we can go by the language of his position to say that the angel was giant. He could have been, I'm just not sure we can say it with certainty. (Also, angels aren't described as having wings. Cherubim and seraphim have wings, but angels typically just look human, if a bit terrifying.) 2: As soon as you said super speed, I knew exactly what this story was. 3: It seems to be a cautionary tale. Man does what God says, gets tricked to go against Him, hears His justice commanded, dies. One more replay of Genesis 3, and a reminder to "test the spirits". 4: I hadn't made that connection, but it certainly fits. I wonder how many other people A, I, and J blessed? 5: Just one more evidence of Jesus' divinity, and one more pointer at the Spirit's divinity in the connections between this story and the other teleportations. Love the new mascot, and the channel is brilliant! You're making great things.

The point of the 2 prophets is: Young Prophet received revelation directly from GOD itself. But the old Prophet use angle (which is inferior to GOD) in 1 King 13:18 "The old prophet answered, "I too am a prophet, as you are. And an 👉ANGEL👈 said to me by the word of the LORD: 'Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.'" Conclusion: The Young Prophet disobey GOD command, he put GOD below the old Prophet. Young prophet received revelation or command directly from GOD. But this old prophet is just simply a human, To make it simple: God 🗣️ Young Prophet (Direct from GOD) GOD 🗣️ Angel 🗣️ Old Prophet 🗣️ Young Prophet (Indirectly from GOD)

Number 5 was a surprise for sure and it fulfills this psalm “¶Those who go down to the sea in ships, Who do business on great waters; They have seen the works of the Lord, And His wonders in the deep. For He spoke and raised a stormy wind, Which lifted the waves of the sea. They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery. They reeled and staggered like a drunken person, And were at their wits’ end. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired harbor. They shall give thanks to the Lord for His mercy, And for His wonders to the sons of mankind! They shall also exalt Him in the congregation of the people, And praise Him at the seat of the elders.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭23‬-‭32‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

The answer is very easy but very important and that is why God let a very serious incident took place.. ... I had to study chapter 11,12 and 13.. God is very serious when He gives us a particular command. We must do what God says .That young prophet didn't do what God told him to do and it was example to that king Jeroboam. But even after seeing what God does to disobedient the king didn't understand what God was warning him and he continued in his sin ver.33,34. and faced the consequences. It was very heart breaking that the young prophet lost his life in the process....

You have to read the other accounts too and it all comes together the account of mark 6:47 says that the boat was in the middle of the lake meaning they weren’t close to the shore at all and lake Galilee from their leaving point to their destination is about 8 miles long and John 6:19 says they went about 4 miles or 6 kilometers half the distance away It wouldn’t have been fast rowing or the boat moving at a high speed one because John 6:21 says immediately and some other translations say at once not “really fast” Matthew 14:33 says when they received him they all worshipped him so no one was rowing the boat when Jesus got in they all worshipped him and Jesus brought the boat to shore with his teleportation power

I suppose it is theoretically possible that several well seasoned fishermen could miscalculate the distance they had travelled by 100%, or that a storm had somehow blown them so far off course without them realizing, but why would that be necessary? If the God who made heaven and earth and even time itself wants to move a dozen humans across a portion of the earth in no time at all I think he can do it.

Couple of things: The reason why the false prophet was able to be used to prophesy was because God can use anyone he wants for whatever his purpose is. Similar to God causing the donkey to speak to Baalim. That’s also one of the keys to the situation where David counted the people. God moved in his heart to do so, as noted in 2 Samuel 24. The lesson with the prophet is that when God tells you to do something, you do it. You walk by faith in the word of God and don’t lean to your own understanding. The prophet thought he was “safe” to do something different than what God told him to do because another “prophet” got him to do something else. Jesus and the disciples teaching the shore probably wasn’t teleportation. You know how the saying goes “a watched pot never boils”? They probably were closer to land than they thought they were. Take into account that the gospels weren’t written at the time they occurred, but were testimonies given later. Like Luke, for example: I believe Luke wrote Acts from others testimonies and his own experience(s) traveling with Paul. So, what he wrote in the Gospel According to Luke was more like 2nd and 3rd hand account. With all of that said, when the account stating that they immediately reached shore was probably not immediate, but it was probably like saying “next thing I know, we were at the shore”. On another hand, their attention may have been on Jesus and Peter so much that they barely processed getting to shore. I believe the main lesson is that is once Jesus has come into your vessel, the storms in your life will seem less significant than you previously thought. You’ll be on shore in no time.

OLD PROPHET MEANING. Revelation 2:14 (KJV) But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the DOCTRINE of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. ITS been a round since the beginning and end. Note Jude 1:11 (KJV) Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. He knew GODs way. note him also going out of his way. This is very real

Reading chapter 13 in 1st Kings I think a key verse is 26 "Now when the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard it, he said, "It is the man of God WHO WAS DISOBEDIENT TO THE WORD OF THE LORD." I think at least in part this is a warning about disobedience. The man of God had instruction, he did the right thing once, but when his elder came he trusted the words of his elder over what the Lord Himself had told him. If there was to be an exception surely the Lord would have told him, and at the very least the man of God should have consulted the Lord through prayer about the old prophet. Also, I think in part that if God has given you a gift (the old prophet) he will use you for His purposes even if you messed up, you will have consequences for your actions though in this case the man of God was killed and the old prophet had remorse over it. So I think there is a lesson to be learned here about following the Lord. Sometimes there are people in our lives, parents, supervisors, pastors, whoever it may be that has authority/seniority over us that will teach us or ask us to do things that are against what the Lord has taught us and part of growing up is learning to be obedient -to the Lord- even when it means denying an elder/someone in authority; obedience to God supercedes obedience to men. A lesson about discernment and priority. This one definitely seems underrated/under preached about.

Here’s all the verses. 1. A giant angel destroying Jerusalem: • 2 Samuel 24:15-17: This passage recounts the time when God sent a plague upon Israel, and an angel was about to destroy Jerusalem. David saw the angel and pleaded with God to stop the destruction. • “So the LORD sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died. When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was afflicting the people, ‘Enough! Withdraw your hand.’ The angel of the LORD was then at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” (vv. 15-16) • 1 Chronicles 21:15-16: Another account of the same event where the angel was standing over Jerusalem with a sword drawn, ready to destroy the city. • “And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people, ‘Enough! Withdraw your hand.’ The angel of the LORD was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” (v. 15) 2. Elijah having super speed: • 1 Kings 18:45-46: After Elijah’s encounter with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, he runs ahead of King Ahab’s chariot from Mount Carmel to Jezreel, a distance of about 20 miles. This is often considered an example of Elijah’s supernatural speed. • “Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel. The power of the LORD came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.” (vv. 45-46) 3. The young prophet: • This could refer to 1 Kings 13, where a young prophet from Judah is sent by God to Bethel to prophesy against the altar there. He demonstrates the power of God’s word but later disobeys God and is killed by a lion. • “By the word of the LORD, a man of God came from Judah to Bethel, as Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make an offering.” (v. 1) 4. Jacob blessing the Pharaoh: • Genesis 47:7-10: Jacob blesses Pharaoh when he meets him in Egypt, a rare moment of a patriarch of Israel blessing a ruler of Egypt. • “Then Joseph brought his father Jacob in and presented him before Pharaoh. After Jacob blessed Pharaoh, Pharaoh asked him, ‘How old are you?’ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, ‘The years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty. My years have been few and difficult, and they do not equal the years of the pilgrimage of my fathers.’ Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from his presence.” (vv. 7-10) 5. Jesus supposedly teleporting: • John 6:16-21: After Jesus feeds the 5,000, He walks on water toward His disciples, and after He gets into the boat, they immediately arrive at their destination, which is interpreted by some as a form of miraculous teleportation. • “Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.” (v. 21)

I just read the 1 Kings 13 today, it baffled me as well but what surprises me more was one you missed out on the lion and the donkey, they sat next to each other until the old prophet came to pick up the corpse. The lion never attacked or ate the old prophet, or the donkeys and the old prophet went home with the corpse to mourn for it, truly a wonderful miracle and sight for the King of the Jungle to not attack a donkey. I agree with some of the comments below about this story's teaching is to fully trust God. It reminds me of Jesus's teaching to test the spirits and discern. It makes me think of a worry I often wonder of the church having certain people who are like wolf in sheep's clothing as Jesus warns before in New Testament, because in this story the young prophet believed the old prophet's words trusting that he was sent by God to bring him home and eat but he never stop to pray and ask God if this was from Him? At the same time I could understand why the young prophet trusted the old prophet's word because he claims to be a follower of God. It almost tells you to not blindly believe because Jesus has mentioned how there are many who proclaims of doing His work, but He will tell them to depart from Him for He never knew them. Even the pharisees rebuked the son of God and wanted to stone Him when He came down on earth and does healing and wonders. Cause how could God contradict Himself? He already gave word to the young prophet to go home a different road and do not eat or drink, why then was it changed? The young prophet trusted the words of the old prophet more than God Himself, often times in the Bible stories like Abaraham's sacrifice for Isaac his son to God, God gave Abaraham the instruction to sacrifice his only son Isaac to Him, then when he was about to kill his son an angel from God came down and proclaimed that God had instructed him to not kill his son for he has proven to God his loyalty to Him. When God speaks, it is clear that it is from Him, He will announce His name and mostly it's from an angel or His voice Himself. Even reading King David's period, David would often talk to God with every decision he was about to make, like attacking other countries and which step should they proceed from, David included God in every decision he'd make. In conclusion, what I take away is to always trust God's word and command but before you do, always discern if it is from Him, for He warns there are wolves in sheep's clothing. Get to know Him better too, I believe the young prophet is young for a reason probably symbolizing a person's walk and faith in God, those starting out are still young and inexperienced, young plants are often easy to uproot than old plants who have their roots firmly attached to the ground.

The young prophet had been fearless in delivering God's message of rebuke. He had not hesitated to denounce the king's false system of worship. He also refused Jeroboam's invitation, even though promised a reward. But he allowed himself to be over-persuaded by the one who claimed to have a message from heaven. When the Lord gives a man a command such as He gave this messenger, He Himself must countermand the order. Upon those who turn from the voice of God to listen to counter orders, the threatened evil will come. Because this messenger obeyed false orders, God permitted him to be destroyed.
