I would have believed you if you told me, but I also ran excavators an drove dump trucks for two decades. For the material that you are moving the lighter four tooth would be the better choice. If you were doing finish work or doing home properties, I would choose a 5 or more tooth bucket.

LOL I am a 52 year old woman watching yours and a few other select excavating channels obsessively! I work in human resources at an assisted living facility for seniors! Had I really recognized my passion for rock and soils earlier in life it could be different. Otherwise, I just love your videos and can't get enough!! 😏💓💓

Hi!🙋♂️ Hehe, I was thinking that the 5 tooth would be better as well, but I guess that I proved myself wrong in this matter..😅 When the difference is what it is, I guess that I will be able to load at least 30 loads more every day with the 4 tooth!😍 Can’t really say that I save any time with easier cleanup then, when I use so much more time filling the 5 tooth..🤪😅 Hehe, I think that you at least needs to go to a machine expo, at least one of the suppliers should have a test stand with some of their machines.😋 We do at least have opportunities to try some machines out on expo’s over here! Wow, I am honored by being one of your selected channels to watch!🙏🤗 I think it’s very fun that you have such interest for heavy machinery, we really share that passion!😍 Well, one get many opportunities to evaluate one’s choices in life.😅 You certainly have a valuable position for many people with what you do, making sure that seniors have a decent life, is to me a highly honorable line of work!🙏 Who knows, maybe the passion for rock and dirt wouldn’t be as strong if you had turned up working with construction yourself?😄 There is only a few of us that really burns for this after decades in a operator’s seat, the majority turns out to loose a bit of their interest and sense of fun.🤭😅 I’m really happy that you found your passion non the less, and I’m really live it out through sticking with me here on YT!🙏🙏

I believe the 4-point bucket fills better because there is more pressure per point or tooth and cuts thru the rocks a bit better. The 5 tooth bucket is almost like a clean-up bucket when working in the rocks. Anyway, whatever works better is what counts. If your cycle times go down, it is a good thing and also less tiring for you.
@dalemasyk15833 жыл бұрын
that because with 5 teeth you're bucket is diggin harder against the rocks as the 4 teeth are spread out more which is easyer for bucket to dig in while rocks can easly go in or shoot asiide like thingy lol

And there was me pointlessly wondering not 2 days ago if bucket weight effects a digger that size much, thanks for answering 👀👍

Yes, there is a huge difference!😅 Have you seen the incab video where I was unloading a 10000 ton barge?🙂 My machine was fitted with a quick coupler back then, and I was using a smaller bucket without teeth back then! The machine wasn’t to recognize with that lightweight bucket, every motion was quicker, and the cycles was so much faster!😍 Check it out, and see if you can see the difference!🙏

How do you think the 5 tooth bucket would compare if the bucket weights were comparable and had same tooth design???
@norwegianearthmovers3 жыл бұрын
Hi!🙋♂️ I have been wondering the same myself!😅 It would probably be a lot better to operate than this original one, as the teeth are much sharper, and that this original one really feels like “on the limit” heavy!😄 I asked our production manager about making one, but the bucket would keep about its original weight, since most of the weight reduction has been done through this design of the knife..🤭 One tooth and it’s adaptor weighs about 250 kilos, so that alone has a large impact on the total weight of the bucket! After thinking a lot about options through working with these buckets, I think that our own design with the 4 tooth bucket gives the best results for us in our conditions.😋 When sitting in that chair pulling joy sticks for 12 hours a day, the most important thing is to have as little resistance, shocks and vibrations as possible! Just see the difference of stability, vibration and shocks between these two in the video! The choice comes pretty natural to me, when I look at the parallel pictures and sees the difference of my movements in the chair!😅 Thank you so much for wondering about what you see, and for sharing your thoughts with me!🙏🙋♂️

a bucket with 4 teeth is needed for a large stone, but for a small stone, earth, clay, a bucket with 5 teeth is needed. + 5 teeth bucket in ease of leveling. + 4 teeth in ease of penetration into the rock

@norwegianearthmovers3 жыл бұрын
Hi again!🙋♂️ Well, on this machine, those buttons are out of use. There are several possibilities for what functions one can give the buttons, but they are more often used at demolition machines who have several other attachments, or smaller machines with tiltrotators of hydraulic breakers!😋 And I just remembered that I forgot to answer your last question..🤭 I load rock that goes to two different dozers. I signal once when the size of the rock fits one of them, and I signal twice when the truckload can go to the other.🙂 We have strict regulations for the size of the rock in various layers of embankments, so I have to be aware of where I send the trucks!🙃 My signal system is just so I don’t have to speak in the radio every load, it gets so tiresome to explain hundreds of loads every day.😅

what's the point to get a 5 tooth when the 4 tooth is much better
@norwegianearthmovers3 жыл бұрын
Hi!🙋♂️ Well, we have this 5 tooth since that’s what we got when original cat buckets were ordered two and a half years ago!🤭 We were using buckets from another brand before that, and the pursuit of a better bucket started just before I started to operate my 390 back in 2018! I had the honor of testing a cat bucket, and I was the first one that they bought a cat bucket for.😅 I was loading blasted limestone back then, and the bucket worked so much better there, but operators on our other two 390’s met challenges when they got their new buckets.🤭 This 4 tooth bucket is redesigned by our own management and workshop, to meet our demands better!😍 The 5 tooth bucket I have here now, is just not rebuilt yet!
@arzamumma12023 жыл бұрын
Viewed 8-21-21 3:30 PM from USA Hi Bernard....proof in pudding as we say !! I would not want the 5 tooth, too much effort to load bucket !! Yes clean up takes longer but you gain extra time and the trucks are on their way to the dozer or crusher. Is the bucket a Cat. ??
@norwegianearthmovers3 жыл бұрын
You are so right!😋 Must admit that I had to try them both out in the same pile to recognize that myself though..😅 Yes, these are original Cat extreme duty buckets! We have discovered that they probably are made for a slightly different material than Norwegian rock though, so this 4 tooth bucket has been rebuilt with a touch of Haehre to be better!😄 I’m sure that 10 cm (4 inches) advancement of the center teeth is enough for gravel or dirt in the US, but we needed a 25 cm (10 inches) advancement to improve penetration in our materials.😅 I remember seeing Cat salesmen in America talk about what they called “rip and load” shape of their “new” buckets when they released the 390 F, we have had a spade shape on our buckets for ages!🤭 It really helps in hard materials! Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts!🙏😊
