Because I haven't fished too much in my life time, this place doesn't even LOOK like a lake! It looks like you and your dad are out as sea!!!!! That lake is freakin' HUGE!!!!! I'd love to have the opportunity to go fishing again on a lake like this. Also, because I'd grown up in the foster care system and on the streets, it is ALWAYS amazing (in a highly emotional way) when I see people fishing with their parents!!!! Loved this video. We have taken a yearly (pre-covid) road trip to Athapap for pike for the last 14 years, and this looked very similar with the quality and number of big fish. Our group has caught 86 master pike in Athapap over that timeframe and I always considered it among the best drive to pike lakes in Canada even though it's known for Lakers. Looks like Cormorant is in that class also. Get your dad to Athapap for that master pike!

Hey Jay, with your Helix unit when you Autochart and run over weeds, your chart saves that info. Turn your bottom layer on, and set it to vegetation that way you don't have to mark waypoints and guess

Bigger than 45s are big. As a Finlander it needs good lines and " staff " to work with. Hooks are guite big so you need to be carefull with those if it is windy weather . Nice to see your way to catch. Thanks.👍🇫🇮

Some nice pike. Great to see the fish being handled well and treated with respect. UK pike anglers would say ‘where’s your mat’ but I can see your method is pretty efficient and keeps the fish out of the water for minimum time.

Monster Pike in the late season can sit in mass in areas you don't expect. In late July and Aug, I will pull 40+ inch constantly from 20 to 30 feet on flat nothing bottom. I use lures that go down 12-15 feet and smash pike one after another. I have no idea why they are there, but they are. Generally mostly smaller ones are still in weeds with the odd good size one.

Just curious Jay - most of your subscribers know the lodge you worked at, but are you not allowed to mention it by name? Great vid as always - and pike don't get enough love in my opinion. In Alberta where most lakes have a zero limit for walleye, I find so many anglers still only target walleye, when pike offer a lot of fun and are generally easier to catch. If the walleye are slow, I'm always game to chuck some steel for gators... And when you get a trophy sized pike, you will remember it for a long time.

swedish pike lures are where its at for these type of pike. I definalty recommend using big European Baits for Pike in NOR MB.
