Great Foghat songs to listen to: "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "Fool for the City" , "Stone Blue", "Chevrolet". My husband saw them in a small bar in 1970 and he said people were throwing joints up on the stage and they'd just gather them up, fire them up, and it was a good time for all.

I agree we grew up during an evolution of Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal. For me it was muscle cars with them 8 track players and them amped up backseat window six by nine speakers. When you put in that Foghat tape and hit that powered speaker switch, you could hear Slow Ride several blocks away.

This was not only played on the radio, it was a huge hit! I still remember the first time I ever heard it. I was at a since closed amusement park near me, called Paragon Park. I met them. I worked for them. I knew them. I hung out with them. I partied with them. I was their personal driver for one night. Foghat were 4 very cool dudes that treated me good. Back in 93` I had very good friends in music that knew their manager. I was offered the job to be their personal driver for the night. I met them in their hotel, hung out and watched tv with them. I drove them to their concert. Partied with them on the tour bus and backstage at a private party. I still have the autographed poster that they gave me. I will never forget that night.

Yes fool for the city is a banger. Foghat was a talented band. The last time I saw them had to 10 to 15 years ago. Paul Rogers on lead vocals in place of Dave Peverette who passed away. I do believe Foghat still tours but the lineup has changed. So basically its really not Foghat.

Foghat was (is) a British blues rock legendary band. Only Roger Earl, the drummer, is still active with the band. Unfortunately, the lead singer "Lonesome Dave" Peverett, guitarist Rod Price - famous for his slide guitar style of playing - are deceased. Former bassist Tony Stevens is alive. Two other 70's classics had sexual innuendo worked into songs that were ostensibly about cars: "Highway Star" by Deep Purple (a six-minute joy ride with two killer solos) and "Trampled Under Foot" by Led Zeppelin (the song lasts almost as long and has a pounding beat throughout.) It was played on the radio, in rotation, at least once every 4 hours on all rock stations in America during that time AND for some years after!

I was in high school when I 1st heard this song and it became one of my favorites. I think I was 30 before I realized what it was about. They played it on the radio and they still do.

Dropping in ...just as I'm hearing (listening to it right now as I'm starting your video) Detroit Sex Machine 'The Stretch' (Meters-like) for the first time... The local FM radio station used to play it (Slow Ride) at 9pm each Friday night. This (long tune) gave him time to run down stairs, blow a joint, and grab the pizza he ordered. He'd get back on the air and be a bit 'discombobulated'....

T: I first heard this song in junior high in the mid 1970's when it came out and I love to hear it every time. Thanks for your reaction and glad you liked Slow Ride.

Slow Ride is an all-time rock classic that was played all the time on rock radio back in the day. Another really good Foghat song played a lot back then was Fool for the City. I don't hear Fool for the City much on classic rock radio these days, but it's a really good song.

Played on the radio? Yes. Back then and now. Heck, even the carnival we went to last year, on the one ride the operator had the old stuff jamming, and when we got on this song came on. I was jamming and afterwards we both thanked eachother. Me for him playing the good shit and him for me showing the good time while on the ride. Forever will be ingrained in my brain. Great reaction and keep up doing the “classic” stuff.

93.9 KILO in Colorado Springs was where I first heard it. It was a couple years old by then as it was in 77 I believe. Love me some Foghat

In the 70s I was a kid and I went with my older brother to visit his friend and this song was playing in his apartment and when I closed the door there was THIS huge album cover poster on the back of the door. Those days were some really good times.

Yes this song was a huge radio hit, though the shortened version was mostly played. Their song Fool For The City was also a big hit, I'd recommend checking it out.
