I knew a local guy who fished Norah all the time. He always said that most boats drove straight over the the top of the best fish to go out wide. It's a great big gravel patch right there with broken reef. Thats why you got the tigers. Just up north east of the island is good as well. Best fishing spot on the coast.

@@huntersfishingadventures5324 Yeah, but you can't expect that result every time. It is nice when it turns on like that though. We used to get quite a few of those Tiger flatties on our annual trip to Moonie Beach (Coffs). We would launch my pop's 12' Quintrex Deluxe with a 6HP Johnson off the beach at Arrawarra and head out to sea. Crazy I know, but we caught heaps of fish using only handlines. 3 generations of us in the boat and I was just a kid back then. I wouldn't do it now. The safety gear was an anchor and rope, a set of oars and a bailing bucket. The bloke I knew who regularly fished Norah Head for snapper was the local butcher at Ourimbah for a while and he was a snapper specialist. He and a heap of his mates used to do the Wooli snapper trip every year in April or May from memory. Another Norah Head snapper specialist once showed me how he fished for them just off the island. Light line, half a pillie on a 3/0 suicide hook with a running pea-sized ball sinker. Drop it over and let it slowly sink in a burley trail of cubed pillie. There is a good live bait reef a little way north off the ramp there, just over in front of the beach. Plenty of bust-off material / unstoppable Kings up there too. Very slow troll a weighted live yakka around right in close to the reefs or the island and hold on. You need to be right up next to the wash with the engine at slowest possible idle. Heavy line and robust reels are required.

Mate you’ve just proven that you don’t need 80k boat and a 100k Land Cruiser to get amongst some top eating fish… Just a old De Havilland ?? powered with a 25hp tiller Mercury will do the same job Fantastic vid👍👍👍👍

Well done Luke but Norah head doesn't always fish like that u got one special day, watch that pr ck of a ramp extremely dangerous even when it's really calm ,seen so many people come unstuck and that ramp is unforgiving
@huntersfishingadventures53242 жыл бұрын
I'm yet to have a bad day off there only fished it twice I'm sure I will lol. Yes the ramp is no place for novices near 100mtr back up no edges to ramp easy to go over sides. Then got to deal with the sand on low tide and always be aware of swell. So yes get your hours up before attempting this ramp 👌
