Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong, and the This American Life radio episode, “Anatomy of Doubt”, with episodes directed by Oscar nominees Susannah Grant and Lisa Cholodenko, "Unbelievable" is a story of unspeakable trauma, unwavering tenacity, and astounding resilience.
Showrunner Susannah Grant executive produces the series, from CBS Television Studios, along with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Lisa Cholodenko, Ayelet Waldman, Michael Chabon, Katie Couric, Richard Tofel, Neil Barsky, Robyn Semien, and Marie.

Izabela Hanstay: Yes, this was a true crime. Although, the series was dramatized it follows the true story line carefully. The rapist is Marc Patrick O’Leary. Watch the 48 hour documentary about the real life investigation and you will see this series explains the true crime closely to the facts.

The first episode broke my heart. A girl that was violated, all her decisions stripped away from her. She does the right thing, calls the police and what do they do? Send a bunch of men (which in this context is a bad thing, you wouldn't send a dominatrix to interview a guy that had just been bound and raped), to interview her, again giving her no choice but recounting her story over and over again. You want help, don't you Marie? So suck it up, we can't help you if you don't talk. In the end it was no surprise to me that they branded her as a liar, they weren't there to help her anyway. All they did is make her relive the most horrific experience of her life and then they wondered that there Wer inconsistencies. Well, tough, Sherlock, that's a common sign of trauma. This series is so ground breaking in even the littlest details and when they finally found out Marie hadn't lied, what did they do? Nothing. Apologize. Give her a bit of money so she wouldn't embarrasse them in court. It's so sad that reality isn't much different. The world should be ashamed of itself.

I love these female detectives and their whole crew including the older lady analyst and intern. This group of actors just worked so perfectly together that I wish they could band together and do a tv show where they solve cases like these.

It's hard to watch. Poor Marie. No one tried to talk with her, even didn't bother to take explanation from her why she could make up something like this. And first episode... when she had to tell her story over and over again. I was shocked. These whole burocratic procedure may be not as horrible as raping but really painful and terrible too.

This series was a tad slow at the start (my opinion) but well worth the view. What I took away from viewing this series, without giving anything away... is that not all victims of rape or ANY crime for that matter are going to react the same. When someone is telling their story the most important thing we can do is listen.

I like the idea of the history but I don't like the idea that only women can understand a woman raped. There men that also work to help women in those cases in real live. History needs to be show but poorly executed shown only one side. Not all men work against women.
