I always appreciate you pointing out the butyloctyl salicylate in the list. I was chasing reactions on my skin with “all mineral sunscreens” for a long time, could never figure out why i was reacting so badly. I learned about butyloctyl salicylate from lab muffin and you. Once i tried mineral spf without this it was a game changer for me! I have super hypersensitive reactive skin. I really wish more companies were more transparent in whats in the inactive along with the active, to some it really makes a huge difference.

Hi, I just stumbled upon your channel while looking for reviews of this sunscreen. I really like the way you break information down and had no idea about the B.S. in some sunscreens agitating sensitive skin. Thank you! You have a new sub.😻

Dana! I clicked so fast - I was really waiting on your review to decide if I’ll buy this or not during the sale. Have you tested this over different moisturizers? Some people reviewing it have had it pill over moisturizers so I’m curious if you ever experienced that. That’s what has had me on the fence about purchasing. Also I didn’t realize you were having PRK versus lasik. Definitely a longer recovery time but overall safer for the long run from what I hear. I hope you continue to heal well! That light sensitivity in the first few weeks post op is intense!

Interesting 🤨I haven’t it pill at all but of course that doesn’t mean it can’t I wore it under a water gel moisturizer today and it went on great. What types of moisturizers are you using this time of year?

@@DanaRipperton ahhh, so, I’m here to report that I am so sad that this leaves a white cast on me. I think it might be because it has some reflective particles in it, it makes me look silvery-grey. I love the texture and the packaging and wanted so badly for it to work. I almost feel like this is more an issue caused by my skin’s undertones and not just the depth of my skin tone. I feel like this looks stunning on all medium skin tones but tan-deep skin tones with olive/neutral undertones beware?!
@DanaRipperton

@@pripri1113 nooooo😩😩😩that is so sad to hear but I think you’re completely right. Undertone is so so important and this one definitely has some reflectiveness to it, which must not work with your undertone. Sorry to hear 😥

Thank you for the reviews! I'm struggling with this between the Drmtlgy universal tinted one. What would you recommend for combo skin type?
@DanaRipperton
@DanaRipperton Жыл бұрын
Drmtlgy feels a bit heavier to me, but I know that the Kosas one can pull a bit warm on some. I think it will come down to your skin tone, but just the formula alone, I prefer the Kosas for combo skin (that's what my skin is too)

I’ve always wondered if the wording switched from chemical and mineral/physical to organic and inorganic how the clean beauty world would react lol. Suddenly the unclean chemicals are organic😱 fallacies would begin to collide and unravel hahah

Its not just about clean or unclean. Chemical sunscreens degrade much faster because they are immediately absorbed by the body, whereas physical sunscreen forms an extra reflective layer on top of the skin and doesn’t deplete unless you are sweating/ swimming etc. Also physical sunscreen is very effective against oily acne prone skin due to zinc oxide. Lastly zinc the main ingredient in physical filter is naturally produced by our body unlike chemical filters. Perhaps you’re better doing a bit more research before you open your mouth or type should I say 🤔
@DanaRipperton
@DanaRipperton Жыл бұрын
@@millig8980 This isn't 100% true. Go watch some LabMuffin Beauty Science videos about the differences. Mineral sunscreens are also absorbed to a degree. Last thing, I value everyone's opinion but telling someone to do more research before they open their mouth's is rude and won't be tolerated here.
@caleb-kun
@caleb-kun Жыл бұрын
@@millig8980 older generation chemical filters, specifically avobenzone, performs spectacularly at blocking UVA in the presence of any of a number of different filters without “degrading”. Newer generation filters don’t have this issue with stability. As far as being absorbed by the body “immediately”, this just isn’t the case. The skin is a very effective barrier, and most if not all of any chemical filters applied to the skin will not be absorbed. Minuscule amounts have been detected in blood, a fraction of a fraction of what one applies. Also, while physical filters provide broad spectrum protection, many chemical filters provide superior coverage (mexoryl 400 recently expanded this spectrum to wavelengths near visible light) and do so with greater cosmetic elegance. Also again, both sunscreens with chemical and physical filters form a film on the skin (this is how they’re formulated to perform), and both types of filters function similarly in the light they absorb and reflect.
