This is our dream. I have a few years until I retire. My retirement works on 80 rule. Age plus years of service must equal 80. Then you can retire with full benefits. Currently we travel to Mexico 🇲🇽 every chance we get. It’s the most beautiful place to visit. My wife loves the beach. 🏖️ we will at the very least live par time in Mexico. We are considering dual residency but still need to learn more about it. I am subscribing to your channel so I can learn more about these amazing places. You are living the dream my man while helping others do the same. I wish you the best and success in everything you do.

I use to get 3 beef tacos & Mexican coke for $4 . 3 40 Oz beers with the return bottles and 10 pack of cigarettes was $5-7 dollars. It looked nice to me there was other people out. Cruise ships coming all the time would probably make the area too touristy and unaffordable. Like i love costa maya and Cozumel but I’m guessing it’s not affordable to live in any of those cruise ship towns and there’s probably no jobs available that don’t relate to the tourism industry. I think i would really need a good remote job to move there.

Hurricanes are the least of your worries. You should be more worried about the crimes against Americans (kidnappings, robberies, and outright murder). Look into the Regularization Visa - basically if you've been to Mexico at least once I think since 2018- you can get a temp residency and not have to show income- you must be on an expired tourism visa and you can do this within the country. They launched this when many expats were there for a while during Covid and couldn't easily get back home or didn't want to.

Why is the current tenant leaving? What is the crime situation here? We keep getting news stories about Americans being hurt of killed in Mexico lately. Is that condo above the bug level? I remember Mexico having a lot of very big bugs all over. Otherwise, that looks like a beautiful place to live. In Chicxulub if you are facing the sea, it is really the Gulf Of Mexico of the bay, north or south. I visited Merida before and went to Uxmal and Cancun and Chichen Itza. But seems like Mexico has gotten more crime ridden from our news. Is that true. Lovely little condo. You get your stair-stepping exercise there!

Yes and no. I'm mexican american and live in boarder town. I've been to Mexico many times grew up going there all the time as a kid. You have to remember the people that can do well there are Americans or other foreigners that have the money to do it it's cheap living but because you have the money. I'll guarantee you the workers that work in those hotels and those apartments and other businesses they're certainly not doing as well as any American or foreigner that's staying or living here. As another commenter said it is another country another culture you do have to adjust to and respect and accept the differences. If you really pay attention to the video you can see that they certainly do not have the same infrastructure as most places in the united states. Visually, I would blend in very easily there and I speak Spanish very well, but as soon as they heard my accent, they'd nail me for that. I would immediately be treated differently. A Caucasian person or a black person or an Asian person somebody that does not blend in there is certainly gonna be treated different as well. Remember, it's a small sleepy town. And just like in the united states small towns they know each other and they know everybody's business. To this day in my Mexican border town and all over Mexico the police are usually on a the take. They're not clean. It was just a way of life when we would cross a border to go party or shop or whatever it is we were doing over there. You always had cash in your pocket to pay a cop off or a traffic cop off. Talk to the people that lived there that said they enjoyed it.I'm sure they did but also have them give you details about the things that are just not the same as they are in the united states. Also, Mexico's doing better probably than Central America and South America. That still doesn't mean that there aren't poor people. There are people struggling people being trafficked, drugs, violence poverty.

If tgis is just outside Merida, YUCATAN, for about 6 months, it's 110 degrees F with humidity at 100! It's beautiful but I couldn't handle this two together!!! And that was in April.

Does anyone know if a tenant is able to purchase their own furniture in places that are already furnished? I love this place but I would want my own decor and furniture. I’m wondering how that works…

Busy season is over (snowbirds start leaving around March/April to return to their home countries). Most of the places on the beach are short-term rentals/AirBnBs. Folks will occupy them on the weekends until busy season returns.

If you retire there and want to keep your SS benefits you need to maintain dual citizenship. So you have to live in US a certain amount of months a year. If you want to move expecting to work and pay less for rent…jobs are few and far between and pay is way lower than US. There is a reason people from Mexico are jumping our border.

Living in Mexico doesn't mean you lose your US citizenship (that's false). And, to live in Mexico full-time or part-time does NOT require you to have Mexican citizenship. You don't have to live in the US at to get your social security income (false again). In fact, Mexico is one of those places where you can have your SS income deposited directly into a Mexican bank account. Yes, jobs are few and far between for foreigners in Mexico, but the vast majority of US Citizens do not come to Mexico to work. There are over 1 million US Citizens living in Mexico part-time and full-time. Vast majority do NOT have Mexican citizenship. THe following statement is directly from the SS website: "If you are a U.S. citizen, you may receive your Social Security payments outside the U.S. as long as you are eligible for them." Here's a publication from the SS gov website: www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10137.pdf People have been living here for 5 and 7 years and have not stepped back on US soil and continue to receive their payments from SS ... It's important people get credible advice before listening to random people on the Internet.
