Not a negitive comment just some friendly advice.......Please employ some basic joinery, a little more effort, application of generations of knowledge will give you the rewards of a strong and resilient structure (even look a little deeper into how asian cultures build with out fasteners). Using a couple of screws and nails to hang structural beams with no support will not last. Seriously even a basic halving joint would make the world of difference. And remove the bark from your logs.

The posts you use will rot out in 5 to 7 years. And cementing them in all the way to the top they will lift with the freeze. If you do more in the future, try a smaller diameter hole and 4 ft. deep. fill up 1 ft. of cement let set dry. Set post in and fill with pea stone keep wiggling the post as you put more in. I've had the same 4 X 4's on my fence for 20+ years. It allows to drain the water away and not a chance to rot like with cement. Just something to think about, 65 year old guy

Hi Jake and Nicole I came up on your video of you guys building your yogurt and I think you guys are doing a great job just one little thing I'd like to say Jake is that when you go to mix concrete and you pour the concrete into the wheelbarrow and it makes all that dust make sure you're wearing a respirator because you breathe in that dust and it is cement as it enters into your lungs and stuff it starts to get hard and it can build up inside your lungs and your throat and it can cause problems later so just a little tip whenever you use a cement mixing cement please make sure to wear a respirator because in the long run it will harm you okay why you guys enjoy your doing a great job out there and you know I envy you guys you look like you have a good thing going there stay true to each other and have a great life

Please forgive me if this has already been mentioned and beaten to death; you take great care to blacken the ends of your porch logs in order to make them last longer, why do you leave the bark on? It invites bugs and worms to eat at the logs.

Black bears are just hungry and curious. Think of them as just a little kid checking out the area. Your past mating season I think, so getting in between a mom and her cubs is probably not an problem until next spring. Garbage bears can be a problem is you bother them while they're scrounging around a dump, but they're just like little kids taking advantage of any situation that presents itself. They understand more than you think, and feel and think like we do. They stay calm if your calm.

A lot of people don't know, that when installing posts in the ground ,you don't have to mix water in a tub , just brace up the pole level, add the concrete bag directly into the hole add a little water on top ,generally there's enough moisture in the ground to cure it up by itself .

Easiest level in the world, get some clear plastic tubing, put some water in it, and span it out to each end of the deck. Line up the water levels on each end of the tube, and that is absolute level. You can put dye in the water if you need to see it better.

Take it from this retired ranger, "don't anthropomorphize wild animals." Doing so causes more harm to the animals and ecosystems than people realize and often for a very long time. Treat animals with respect, but don't associate any of their behavior with that of humans. Don't feed them, allow them access to any human provided feed, don't get close to them and don't try to protect them from natural processes and their environment. I witnessed the down side in my 3+ decade career and we were left to clean up the mess people had caused. Sometimes that meant a gun had to be used on the bears, deer, marmots and some bird species. We didn't like doing it, but sometimes someone had to. So my vote is don't name it at all or give it a number, such as the date of the day and month you first saw it.

XD MX13 I have noticed that they do not interact with their viewers/supporters etc. at all which is odd because the channel wouldn’t be a success without (us) the people. That’s my main turn off I have noticed well and the same back shot of her half naked on every video. I am not sure what that’s all about honestly. Lots of time to ask to subscribe, like, ask for food, candles, everything really (some sort of marsh mellows in this video) and send money but sadly that’s the only interaction they do. That’s how people will get turned off. All you tubers I watch make efforts to interact with their followers except this channel.

Screw for your Main Support? screw break clean has nail bend and support better the cold, still, I will have gone with a galvanized lag screw for the main support, the same fr the bark between the main support and the tree, it accelerates the rot. I did the same thing at my cottage and on the second summer had to replace 2 support because I could push my screwdriver all the way across... it is not too fix this.. my 2 cents Other than this, the deck looks awesome.

To be honest, I actually enjoy watching your videos because they are of an alternative lifestyle. No, I'm not after eye candy or even an education, just the experience of seeing how you are getting your act together....BUT...where you are isn't a secret, and its not strictley off grid, other than no plumbing, canalisation or electricty. None of the latter reduces my enjoyment of seeing what you are doing, however, and the only thing I can add is that while I admire your energy and application, and even how you share out the tasks and so on, the fact is that you might want to take some advice from others on how to do some things, or find a few books, or even look at other web sites. The yurt looks great, you two are fun to listen to, most of the time, so stop overselling the product and focus more on who you actually are as human beings who are learning new ways of doing things, because this is what makes the videos enjoyable.

@thefutureofyesterday8136
@thefutureofyesterday8136 5 жыл бұрын
Sex and living off grid is sort of the same thing right? 😂. I have wondered this myself but it’s the definition of click bait. A half naked girl draws attention which creates traffic on their videos. Yet a half naked girl has absolutely nothing to do with “living off grid”. The title is not correct either and should be changed to “living almost off grid” or “living on the edge of the grid”. Living off grid is no electricity, no internet, iPads, facebook, instagram, computers, cell phones, no KZbin for sure and other things that is truly living off grid. But yes click bait is their common way to draw people to the channel which is tacky but sex sells.
@bigdaddy741098

@@thefutureofyesterday8136 youve got to be kidding me. That might be your definition of living off grid, but it certainly isn't theirs, or mine. But hopefully you're watching this because that's how YOU want to live, great go do that, then we won't have to put up with your negative comments after you completely cut yourself off from the world. Maybe you can train pigeons to send messages to keep in contact with family, or smoke signals. If you don't like the sexy thumbnails of an incredibly attractive woman, or what they are doing or how they are doing it, why are you watching?
@thefutureofyesterday8136
@thefutureofyesterday8136 5 жыл бұрын
bigdaddy741098 I do not watch to get my rocks off like you to a 1” X 1” picture of a girl bare chested I will tell you that much. Nicole is a cute girl but “incredibly Hot Sexy Most Beautiful girl” as you put it makes you sound pretty pathetic. She’s someone’s girl friend for one and she’s okay. If you get all hot and bothered over a 1 “ x 1” photo of a girl showing nothing I feel sorry for you. I watch many off grid channels because I find it interesting not that it’s any of your business horny man. I for one do not encourage misleading videos and most people don’t either. I have said nothing bad about this couple at all. As many have made clear misleading viewers to get views is a tacky way to get viewers and that’s with any clickbait video idiot.

Yahoo - just found a video I missed - always looking for more of you guys. This makes me think about when my late husband and I first married we bought a small house (about 30 foot square) and then added on as we could afford it. We spent most weekends working on the house as our jobs were pretty heavy duty. We found a fireplace that connected to the radiators and we could heat the house whenever we built a fire. We lived in a woodsy area so we could always find free wood.

Agreed. Yurts are basically and thicker version of a tent. Anything or anyone can get into a yurt with only a kitchen knife. I have read many stories through the years of yurts being entered in a matter of minutes. This is just speaking of people gaining entry as in criminals. Animals especially bears would make short work of the yurt. Their smell is amazing and with food being stored inside, those cats and the people inside would make any hungry bear happy. It’s truly a safety concern going forward living in one. I personally couldn’t do it because of my kids safety alone. However, that’s just me and being former law enforcement I have seen what evil lurks in today’s world unfortunately.

Stumbled on one of your old videos where you said you both had sold everything you had and were traveling the world - I think you were in the Canary Islands at the time. There's no question about the labor you both are putting in to your yurt, but how are you financing the property, buying the yurt, the stove and accessories, the tools, accessories, furnishings, skiff, etc? Not to mention food and clothing? Living off "the land" is great, but unless you're a real survivalist (like harvesting that bear for meat and fur), most watchers can't replicate without an independent source of income, I think? Could we have one video about how to pay for this life? Thanks.

Just because they eat vegan marshmallows doesn’t necessarily mean they’re vegan but there’s several pieces of evidence they are. I’m curious if a vegan diet can sustain them with the calories needed to survive out there. Veganism seems like something that could only be invented with the privilege of modernity.

As long as they get the fat, animal or vegetal, it doesnt matter. And yes, no one could be vegan prior to 1945 ish.

David Lambert I’m not sure if you’re mocking me or just answering but I’m leaning towards mocking. By modernity, I meant technology. In the past people had to burn a lot more calories to survive. I was just simply asking, I was not trying to put vegans down.
