Love what you both are doing. I lived like you for 12 years, I so miss it. No electricity, no running water, an out house and wood stove. I had 2 showers. One inside that drained off to the outside and I built an outside shower house. I had a water tower 225 gallons gravity running water to my shower house. Great in summer, I hunted and had a garden, canned ... It's work but a wonderful lifestyle. I lived alone.... Blessings

Watching you take the bark off of those logs reminds me of how old I am getting. You should prop them up higher so that you won’t be bending over so much. Your back will appreciate it. You can even sit on the log to draw knife them when they are propped up high. Just a little advice from someone who has peeled a LOT of logs. Thanks for the videos, I think you are inspiring a lot of people.

Great job you are both doing. What about making a quick canopy over your fire area when you char the base of the wood, + you will have a portable shelter between the rain .. snow etc. or even extend the new roof over the wood pile to cover the fire area, because you will need it for many more seasons.

Bravo! Soldiering on with needful projects in the rain/snow. It doesn’t look like your water supply will suffer much....after all, it is a rainforest... Nicole, that red stoneware soup tureen(?) is beautiful! I wonder if you would share it’s source, as I would like to get one in perhaps forest green for my wife. She makes the best soups on the planet and I happen to love soup above most other meals. I enjoy seeing you two working together and watching your skill set expanding and your skills refining to craftsman levels as you continue to pursue your dream. Never mind the cold. My friends in Nebraska are getting 100-year blizzards (once in a hundred years) and have had temperatures to -20 and even -30 degrees C this winter. We live in the Northwest, at low altitude, so have only had scant snow this winter and quite a bit of rain. We took a cruise (old people sometimes do that) to Alaska two years ago in September. Circumstances (a big storm) forced the captain to change the itinerary, putting us into Victoria, BC for a full day, instead of the originally planned4 hours. It rained most of the time, but we took a bike tour that was really fascinating and learned about the rainforest in Western BC. Magical! I love how you guys make use of everything you can, even the bark from debarking logs for kindling and tinder. I will never be able to live off grid for any meaningful length of time, so do it somewhat vicariously through you two and a couple in Brazil refitting a sailboat (Duca and Roberta, Odd Life Crafting). They have also been building a container home on a family farm where they can live between trips to various spots around the globe. Like you, they enjoy beauty wherever and whenever they find it. Their climate is a tad bit less temperate than you’d, but...like you, are making the best of it. I hope you will, years from now and looking back, have enjoyed every moment of your journey. I hope these accomplishments will strengthen you two and prepare you for your next adventure into the greater world. Be safe, be happy, be kind, be truthful, and be grateful....for all these are gifts of a life well lived.

We built a drive under basement home. in WI using licensed contractors and ourselves. We used one wall of the basement garage for a week's wood storage; the wood furnace was next to the gas furnace right thru the door to the basement from the garage. Guess what? So convenient and well built we were run off and the house confiscated.

Question - when is the medal roofing coming in ? After you get it up are you maybe going to use tarps on the side's, roll up when weather is nice ( not raining) and roll down when raining ? That would help keep your porch dry. You 2 have done a LOT of work. Your home is looking great. Stay safe and warm.

Love the continuous use of logs for beams! You save so much time not milling them and they look a great. I am concerned about the logs used for the main porch that still have Bark on them. To much risk of rot
