@@tonnaboy10 as a former DPD driver I think you should, although drivers make some ridiculous moves to stay in their window, I would like to think the more people that publicly give DPD a bad name due to its drivers would make them rethink the way they deal with things and change their priorities. As it stands (and always has) ALL they care about is their ETA %, the working conditions are horrible and drivers are treated like they belong in a zoo and have no rights by everyone (shift managers, ops managers etc) Expected to be in the depot for 10/10:30am to scan all parcels and load yet left waiting for a handful of parcels until tipping is finished (which can be anywhere up to like 2pm depending on volume), doesn’t matter if you have 130 of 140 stops scanned and loaded they will make you wait regardless. I could say so much more but I feel this is long enough so if anyone has any questions they want answered honestly I’m happy to help 👍 Moral of the story make DPD known for what they are…which is a terrible company. End of rant 😂

It is the Management that should get more stick than the drivers. They give the drivers stupid delivery times and targets. Needs only 2 steps to make a big dent in this. 1/ All delivery vehicles regardless of size, must have a Tachograph fitted. ( This logs drivers hours, speed, GPS location) 2/ Transport Managers & their staff are directly responsible for excessive deliveries/ unrealistic targets for their drivers.
@coledwon
@coledwon Жыл бұрын
Agree, decent trackers can be fitted in 5 mins. Will log GPS, speeding throttle position and heavy braking etc. If all the above are kept safe levels then all you really to know about to plan slots is if a driver has excessive idle time between drop offs. This would even allow for tea breaks to be logged. Companies shouldn't be allowed to put this much pressure on employees

One thing I've personally experienced on a couple of occasions a few years ago now with DPD is that when I bought Lego from the Lego website and it was sent via DPD, that we would wait in, we would see no van, get no knock on the door or doorbell ring nor even get an attempted delivery card. I just got a message that my parcel has been delivered to the local collection point which was a go outdoors store about two miles from my house who took in undelivered parcels for DPD if there was nobody at the delivery address. So then I would have to jump in my own car, take ID with me, go to the go outdoors store, fund a member of staff, show them my ID, say I had a message and a code for a DPD parcel. They would then go out the back into the storage area and come back with the parcel. I'm interested if this a thing others have experienced.

Had that with Evri but not DPD. In the UK the delivery business (including food couriers and these van drops), apart from Royal Mail and perhaps UPS, just looks like modern day slavery. It's a wonder there aren't more accidents and missed deliveries. Huge companies like DPD, Amazon, Uber - we hear far too many horror stories around employment practices and if you lookat the people working for them (mostly as self employed contractors) it's easy to see things that support the stories we hear.

You will tend to find it’s the drivers that are actually employed by DPD that are the worst ones, they get paid no matter how much they deliver so they just don’t care, OFD’s tend to (not always) take more care in handling/delivering parcels as they are only paid if it is delivered so they try to get everything delivered. I’m going to speak up on all drivers that deliver to the keyboard shoppers that have ordered parcels in the first place.drivers are typically on the road by 6am with a van full probably 150 plus addresses to go to most won’t be in the first time you try to deliver so you have to go back the next day.there’s more idiots in cars filming on their dash cams than van drivers.the driver driver outside Halfords probably thinks that the driver has a massive car park to park in so why not go a different route out the car park.there’s no one way sighn.If you don’t like parcels being delivered don’t order any go to the shops and eventually they will not need so many drivers.loading bays are few and far between and normally have a self entitled driver car owner parked in them making drivers lives and parking harder.Don’t even get me started with people who name there house instead of using numbers.Eg dune roaming?or White House farm which is actually a pink bungalow 🤯🤡

Perhaps walk a mile in the shoes of a DPD or any other parcel delivery driver before judging too harshly. From experience it’s very high pressure assuming that you care about the outcome. Not a justification for this but makes it more comprehensible. 😢

Very easy to criticise. I worked for united carriers. Multi drop. Work load was immense. Especially timed drops. Or you arrive at teabrake nobody to sign delivery note. What you didn’t do that day was on tomorrow’s load. Maybe look at management. See what the driver has to do and why. He is driving that way
@mikeh2006

DPD doesn't give their drivers time to have a piss let alone get all the drops done in the alloted time. This is why you see DPD vans driving around like lunatics some times. It's the unrealistic expectations the company has.

they do. when system creates the route it asks EACH driver if wants break (30 mins) also ask the driver how much time it needs for each stop (new drivers get 5 mins per default ) after some time , driver that know their route cutting donw. so tick NO Break , and drop stop time to 45 sec. Over 120 stops which is. nothing , your working hours go down from 11 hrs to let say 6-7. so fo the same pay its simple. although there are drivers with some manners and think about other road users and there are some tossers without a brain. dpd as a company is great.

I feel sorry for alot of these DPD drivers. Sure, many of them are naive and are promised circa 40K earnings but they also have to pay for their fuel for the vans, plus, like you say, if they miss that time slot, they are penalised heavily. They are set up to fail.

Yup, drove for an amazon partner for a few months. The owners get into it as a high profit low risk venture and then find out the drivers they employ don't give a crap about targets, which are impossible to meet. They are overworked, underpaid, have to deal with stupid customers all day and bad drivers.
