I like to use the microwave to heat up the water for my coffee/tea but my son insists on boiling the water because he says it tastes different when microwaved - what do you think? Thanks for the unboxing.

Hmmm I have never used the mickey to just heat water for coffee.. I can only assume that a kettle makes big bubbles and a mickey would make lots of tiny bubbles and that could make it taste different LOL I dunno hun but there has to be some science behind it :)

How long does it take to defrost 1 lb of meat and 1 lb of poultry?

I have never defrosted 1lb of meat, but when I press to select smart defrost for 500g it suggests 6 minutes, so it looks like the microwave is suggesting 12 minutes. [ I always run the program and slice off each defrosted bit, leaving the solid center until its done :) ]
