My new Rees Harpsicle Grand arrived. Watch me unbox it! It's SO pretty! Love that beautiful red color. I am incredibly excited to try it out. Each time I get a new harp, it is very refreshing. It is a brand new musical tool! Who knows what personality it will have and where it will creatively lead you. If you are thinking about learning the harp, let's chat: rosalanimusic....

At first glance the red was not looking as expensive as these harps are. But, then I could see it’s color adding to the decor of Christmas, Valentine’s….. so I say, great choice ❤️

Hello!, I just have a question,could I get a lever harp but made just like a pedal harp for beginners? Also how much do your harps cost?
@CymberLilyQuinn

Yes, there are lever harps made that look like pedal harps. I don't actually make harps myself, but I would recommend Salvi harps for what you are looking for.

Thank you for your Grand Harpsicle videos! They helped me to make my decision to buy a Grand. I haven't received it yet but in the mean time I am researching amps. Have you a favorite that you use with your Grand? I see Rees Harps recommends the Fishman mini but I'm not ready to spend $529. I currently do not play in public but want to be ready when I do.

Yes, my current favorite is the Roland CUBE Street EX. It is very lightweight, due to new technology for amps in general. It has 3 inputs, which means I can play my harp, sing, and have another player or singer all running through the same amp. It can be battery powered (8 AAs I think) or powered. It's pricey, but worth it if you play out. Around $500. The important thing to consider when purchasing an amp for a harp is that the harp is essentially like a piano, with high highs and low lows. Bass amps are designed for only low notes. Guitary amps are mid-to high. Ideally, look for a piano amp, or an amp that can handle a piano. The next best thing is to hook up your Grand to your computer, and play in GarageBand. It will give you the sound of an amp, and there are lots of fun ones to try in GarageBand. To connect your Grand to your computer, you'll need an audio interface. Focusrite Scarlett or Tascam are good brands and you can get them on Amazon or similar. The interface has a 1/4" jack for the cable coming from the Grand. And it has a USB out the back to connect to your computer. Let me know if you need more help.

Is the string spacing as small as it is on the fullsicle? And how much tension do the Strings have?
@CymberLilyQuinn
@CymberLilyQuinn 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the string spacing is about the same. The string tension is very light. This harp is made to be amplified, so you can make a big sound with a small effort. Hope that helps!

Wow! It takes a few weeks to tune a harp? I have no musical background, so I wouldn't know. Suddenly the harp is really becoming a deeper stronger dream somehow... I just lost my mother March 22nd. Harp is somehow Alost out of nowhere calling to me.. very strongly. What harp would you buy first? I've heard less then 26 strings is losing a good sound. Is an electric acoustic harpsicle something that I should think of too?

I'm so sorry for your loss. The harp is often a way to deal with grief and self-soothing. I usually recommend that you rent a few different harps if you can. But if you are buying a harp, I recommend at least 26 strings and getting a harp that sits on the floor. A good 26+ string harp will have legs that sit on the floor. The harp is much easier to balance that way, rather than a small harp that sits in your lap. Smaller is definitely NOT better when it comes to first learning to play the harp. If you are going to buy, I often recommend Dusty Strings as a good first harp. They have a reliably good sound and are easy to maintain. They are also pretty easy to sell should you decide on a different harp down the road. I'm happy to set up a zoom meeting if you'd like to talk further.

I am excited to see your harp. I have a question when buying a lever harp how does it shape will affect the harp like some harp have curve at front, some just straight. Which one to choose for beginner who never play harp?
@CymberLilyQuinn
@CymberLilyQuinn 4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question, Ali. You're talking about the pillar, also known as the post, of the harp. I have harps that have straight pillars and one that has a curved pillar. It doesn't affect the sound. The shape is mostly a decision of the harp maker. For beginners, I recommend getting a harp with 26 or more strings, and has legs that sit on the floor. This makes the balance a lot easier. Hope that answers your question...
