For today's unboxing review we bring you the 2016 Porsche Panamera. Yes, this is the last year of the first generation Panamera, and we thought it was worth a proper send-off just as the all-new, second generation Panamera arrives in dealerships. Our tester was literally the base model, called the Edition (yes, that's the trim name), powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 with 310 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sure, you could opt for the way more expensive Turbo S and its 4.8-liter V8, but that could be out of many buyers' budgets. Our tester came with a base price of $80,000, and with all extras features and a destination fee, the grand total was $89,195, which still ain't exactly cheap.
Speaking of extras, our tester came equipped with the $3,140 Palladium Metallic paint, 19-inch Panamera Classic Wheels for $1,225, and the $2,660 Premium Package, featuring front seat ventilation, lane change assist and 4-zone automatic climate control. But here's the sticking point for a lot of potential first-gen Panamera buyers: the car isn't exactly pretty. What's more Porsche sports car purists have never fully accepted it. But still, the Panamera is a true Porsche in every way. Enjoy the review!
