Nice rifle! That knob above the barrel is the bayonet lug. The rifle is a delayed blowback design. No gas is regulated. The rifle has a fluted chamber, so reloading is out. Have fun.

Yes LFG!!! My 2nd favorite rifle in my collection. C308 BABY!!!! That is a BAYONET LUG. This is not a Gas Operated Rifle. Love the Bayonets too, probably a cleaning kit under the Bayonet Lug 👍

It is a G-3 variant. I had the privilege of handling one a few decades ago. Very cool and powerful battle rifle. and clean your weapon after usage every time, and it will not matter what you run in it. Take it from a black powder enthusiast and ex-military guy. Cleaning the firearm after use is standard procedure.

The G-3 is actually a Cetme variant.

A great grab! In regards to what you said about the gap space when going into battery. As long as you don't "Ride the charging handle" back into battery and instead just let it go on it's own after the HK slap. You shouldnt have any problems. I noticed that gap too with my PTR 91 because I would keep trying to hold on to the handle and letting it go, which caused the bolt to not fully go into battery because it lacked the very much needed energy to push it self into battery. Also, if you're not confident about it going into battery fully, always check before you fire.

Nice find. I've been thinking about getting a Cetme/G3/FAL style battle rifle, but they are not exactly cheap. I did get to hold a SA58 recently and it was extremely heavy. Granted, it had wood furniture on it. Can't wait to see this out at the range.
@Darth-Nihilus14 ай бұрын
Get one 😮, I grabbed my HK91 back in 2012 and it runs everything and it uses both HK and CETME mags. I had a CETME but it’s not fully interchangeable with the HK G3. Get a DAS FAL, I have one as well. The FAL has an AR style locking system and a last round hold open. Can’t go wrong either way. Zastava M77 is a great choice if you want an AK battle rifle
@brettneville23514 ай бұрын
Excellent review and great rundown... Seriously considered a G3/PTR/CETME rifle but ultimately settled on an AR-10/308. I don't regret my decision, as I love the modularity and customization options for AR-10. That said, I would definitely pick up a CETME for the right price. I agree, PTRs are kind of high in price and have also gone up a bit in the last few years (and reviews are mixed).
@ronaldsellers37174 ай бұрын
The front sight adjusts for windage & elevation (Kinda). Elevation also adjusts windage to the left. Depression adjust windage to the right in a diagonal (\) pattern. Fortunately you have a rail, slap a red dot on it.
@nekoghostgunner11294 ай бұрын
While I also avoid corrosives in autoloading rifles, the CETME action is one that I'd be more willing to use them in, due to it not having a gas system and thus the corrosive salts being pretty confined to the barrel and front area of the bolt and receiver.

I think that projection in front of the front sight is just a bayonet lug. These have the rather unusual arrangement of having the bayonet mount on top of the barrel rather than underneath. Have one of these as well. It’s great because it’s much less ammo picky than most of its .308 semi-auto rivals. Also I think Century farmed out a lot of the work on these to PTR so they’re generally much better than the old Century CETMEs. Of course as a left-handed shooter, the ergonomics are even worse for me than the average person. Great find, congrats!

Congrats on the new rifle! Idk anything about the CETME's, but it looks like a G3 to me! Does it run proprietary mags or are those G3 mag? You're gonna fall in love with .308 semi's... 6mo from now you'll have 4-5 of them, I'm calling it now!

A moment of silence, please [For the lifetime of silence those beside you will be experiencing.] These things are always fun*. I've yet to hear anything truly negative about these, in particular. One friend had one of the Century CETME rifles from around '03-'05. Another had a Federal Arms. The "break in" was around 250 rounds on those Centuries. By that I mean: You had to shoot it that much, to get the stock off it. They built them tight. *"She's really very sweet and kind, guys. You don't know her like I do. She doesn't mean it." For bystanders, these can be effective as flash-bangs. For the shooter; it's an abusive relationship.
@MidMo40204 ай бұрын
Very well said! My uncle had one. Snickered when I asked to borrow it. I put plenty of rounds through it. Ammo was cheap then. There was a definite break in but it was still a very angry thing to shoot.. looked really badass at the range though 🤣🔥🇺🇸

Bought one of these when they first came in. Came with 2 mags, mag pouch, sling and bayonet. No rail at the time thought, and original nuzzle break. The only problem I had was that one of the mags would drop out after firing the first round.

I bought a dozen CETME kits from shotgun news years back .Also several G3,s back when the barrels came with them. I think I've got 3 or 4 parts sets left that I never built. Minus the receivers wich were torch cut. But very easy to build with flats a jig and a press.and welder. Let me know what you need and I'll send it to you.

I have a Century C308 that I've had for a while. Back when they were 500ish, it was a great deal. I wish I had waited just a bit though because Century released the Tan ones for the same price just a few months after I bought mine. I had to coat mine on my own. Dark coatings and finishes in the Mid-West sun are torture to the user.

Crazy idea: design an easily installable and removeable yet secure auxilliary ergonomic grip to allow slightly built people to get more leverage on the charging handle. I am envisioning something with a ball detet? Could be a lifesaver. I'm tired of these keyword flags. These G3 esque rifles have an exotic Katanga mojo to them.
