B Smithi is so beautiful! That species will always be my favorite! It was the first species I ever saw in a movie when I was a kid and when I think about the word, "tarantula" the B Smithi is the first thing that comes up in my mind. Thanks for sharing!

wow that smithi is beautiful 😍 theres a 100% way to tell which you have even if you dont have two to compare or w/e bcus both colour banded leg sections of a smithi have orange in them, but in a hamorii only the top coloured section actually has orange. if you look at the lower section you can see its a cream colour w/ no orange also I think you will rly like the albiceps theyre so nice to look at and mine is super docile and friendly

Hey Kat. thanks again! Further to my comment 1 week ago. You've really helped me take the plunge. My first ever 2 slings arrived this morning! A 1.4cm/ 1/2 inch B. hamorii (£7) & after months of research i found a 1.9cm / 9/10 inch B. smithi (£16). Both advertised as 1cm, so i think i've lucky! Terrified I won't know how to look after them properly, having only had one adult female G porteri 29 years ago! When i went to Uni I couldn't take her, so sold her back to the pet shop. Mind you, she'd become so so so defensive it was impossible to pick her up after 6 months as she used to turn around and bite my pen! THanks again for your great advice and expertise Kat. Justin UK

The smithi has darker orange than the hamorii in my opinion. Also I’ve seen the smithi be called the giant Mexican Red knee and the hamorii the Mexican red knee.

Yes. Our pet store T. supplier calls the Smithi a "Giant Mexican Red Knee" and the Hamorii just a Mexican red- knee

I may have to buy one and send it to you to raise and keep for me since I'm getting a little older I really don't have the energy to chase a spider around the house but let me know what your thoughts are on that. Just so you know, the carapace pattern can change between the same species of each so it’s not a great determinator of which species is which; the knees are best to check for species difference

love the influx of T. verdezi. I think I have 3 now .75 -1.5" They seem overall very peaceful even as slings. Many vendors jumped at the chance for this Mexi import. Hopefully CBB's of all Brachys and Tlitocatls will will soon eliminate the need for any WC's
