Unboxing an AUTHENTIC Gandalf Cloak | Lord of the Rings Collectibles Review

I've been building and sewing costumes for well over 20 years. Some time ago amidst the Jackson trilogies a fellow craftier of costumes had come into possession of a small sample of the Stansborough fabric. She gave it to me knowing how much I loved LotR and costuming. That little slip of fabric is still with me, I treasure it greatly, not only for it's superior quality but more so for the symbol of friendship, and for the time off great joy during the Jackson trilogy my life had. What I am trying to say is I understand the joy that cloak will bring you, and I might be just a touch jealous. LOL :)

I've always been enthralled by the fellowship cloaks yet never delved into who actually made them. There's something to be said about old world crafted items. Very cool cloak! Congrats on the great video. To quote Marcus Brody “A couple of years ago, I’d gone for it myself. I’m really rather envious!” but my wallet won’t allow it. I’m still paying for a Museum Replicas Anakin Skywalker ROTS full costume I got my hands on a couple of years ago (which I love). Being able to wear costumes of such high quality like the ones used during film is such a great feeling. I look forward to the Watch Party (are we seeing the theatrical version or extended edition?)… who knows, if I win the Gandalf hat I may end up following you down this path! 👍🏻

I have their Gandalf hat I bought from Weta's site and have to say I was a bit disappointed. Gandalf's hat in the movies is more of a blue wool and this one is grey to match the rest of his cloaks. It may be the same shape, but it has absolutely no support to look anything like what you see on screen. I had to add poly fil to the tip, metal wire to the brim and binder clips to the inside to get it to stay in the iconic pose. I do have the silver scarf of Gandalf as well and can't recommend it enough!

This is an amazing video, great breakdown and background. I’m blown away by this cloak and everything that goes into it. 😍 I would love to own the authentic Gandalf’s cloak and hat. The price tag is a little 🫣 and knowing the process, I totally get why it is! The price is definitely justified, especially since it’s sustainable. I hope someday I can make it happen! 6:45 These sheep look a heck lot like Gotland sheep, which are indeed a very old Scandinavian race, HOWEVER : - It's assumed to be from the Gutefår (another old race of sheep) that the Northmen made their sails, not the Gotland - Gotland sheep exist in many, many different places, they are very much NOT only found at Stansborough farm in NZ It might be another, much rarer sheep race that I've never heard of, but then it's in any case NOT the ones the "Vikings" made their sails out of.

It's wool from a type of gray sheep called Gotland sheep that originated in Scandinavia.

They're not drawstrings, but a strings for tying the hood. I was wearing it a bit odd in most of the vid, the entire thing is supposed to be off the back, I believe.
