What's your opinion on the CA99 vs. the NV5? Action? Build Quality? Sound Quality? Suitability for virtuoso classical music? Also, what's the expected lifespan of an instrument like this and how do they tend to hold up over time? As an advanced student with this price range, trying to figure out if I want a low-end silent piano or a higher-end digital/hybrid piano, such as this one.
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ted Well, good questions. I would start out by saying this: If you have the option of choosing a real acoustic piano, I would always recommend you do that. That being said, the next best thing to go for, would be a digital piano with a real acoustic action. Here, Kawai NV-5 and Yamaha NU-1X is a league over the more "regular" digital pianos, that a imitating most acoustic features. Then again, you have CA-99, which would be next again to choose. And here, budget is your guideline. Action, Build Quality, Suitability... equally good on NV5 and CA-99, but the action on NV5 is superior still. Expected lifespan? Don't know.

Hi Albert It weighs a lot yes, around 100kg. But two strong people could probably take 6 stairs, if not too steep.

How was it in person (and compared to the ca79)? Is the soundboard worth it? Thanks for the video!
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Cebeema So I think they are both great. I've always said, that I believe the soundboard is worth it. And I also think that's the case with the newest versions. The GFIII is absolutely amazing. It's the best one they've built yet. In the CA99 I can feel the vibrations in the keys. It's maybe easiest to relate to, if you know what the TRS in Yamaha Avantgrand is? The Tactile Response System. It gives these vibrations in the keys - something Roland is also working on, on the LX-708

What is your view on the Grand Feel 3 action? Some people have said that it is lighter compared to the Grand Feel 2/compact, is this true?
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
I could be inclined to say yes. It does feel a bit lighter, mostly due to the fact that there has been some changes in the action. I know this article is in danish, but I think it might still be helpful in understanding the changes. www.digitalpiano.dk/blog/CA79-og-CA99s-nye-funktioner/

Hi, what do you think of comparing Kawai CA99 vs Yamaha NU1X ? Both are digital piano, the pricing for both are almost the same, though the NU1X are slighly expensive.. Which do you recommend on the value of money in purchasing this digital piano base on its technical specs, functionality wise and of course the closest to a "Real" Piano feeling.. Thank you!
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Emmirul Both are really good digital pianos but I would say that they differ some in what they are made for. The CA99 keys are made to feel like grand piano keys, where as the NU1X has real upright piano action. Therefore you pay a lot in the Yamaha for the real action, and this means that you get less functions. In the CA99 you have all sorts of different sounds, rhythm boxes, recording, virtual piano technicians app, bluetooth audio and so on. So really there is a different focus I would say. They both feel like a "real" piano I would say, they are just different in there purpose. If you want "real" upright piano action, you would go for the NU1X, but if you want grand piano action you would go for the CA99 even though it is not "real" piano action. But if you are the kinda person, that wants different sounds and stuff to play with, there is no question that the CA99 would suit that person better
@EmmirulNorman4 жыл бұрын
@@Digitalpianocom Hi there! Thanks for the reply, appreciate it! I wonder, does both piano able to distinct their sound apart from those Real Upright piano/ Grand Piano in a recording or Raw recording? Or does it takes someone who are really into Piano that are able to identify the CA99/ NU1X is a digital Piano just by listening to their tune? Thank you in advance! :)
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
@@EmmirulNorman I would say, that when listening to the pianos in a recording you would have a hard time to tell . But when you compare the pianos side by side to the real acoustic ones, you would hear the difference quit clearly. The real pianos are made of completely different materials and the way the sound is produced cannot be compared to how the sound comes out through speakers. So I would say that you can hear the difference when comparing the digital pianos to the acoustic ones in person, even though you are not a professional pianist :)

What headphones do you recommend?
@Digitalpianocom4 жыл бұрын
We would recommend using high quality studio headphones for the CA-99 to get the best headphone experience. I prefer closed headphones because they are good in noisy environments. One of the best headphones we offer at the moment from our store, is the ones called "V-MODA Crossfade M-100 Master" . Those headphones have an excellent clear sound, which really enhances some of the smaller details.

@alicaramba76804 жыл бұрын
Why you obsessed with stereo? People normally hear sound in mono, this is the best, most focused and natural sound. Stereo is for effects only, much like surround. It gives nothing in pure musical enjoyment terms and mostly takes away focus on what matters in music most.

Wow. That hinge at 6:00. Ugly !! Not what you expect to see on the face of a £3500 piano. Do we have to shell out £7K for the NV10 to get proper buried hinges? And have they added a proper blackout mode for the touch screen? - One where the backlight turns off rather than just setting the screen to a rather poor black level with the backlight still on?
