Also, thanks for the detailed review/install. I have been looking at the different Warn winches and was thinking I really wanted wireless but I was really looking at the vr10s. Seems like this one being waterproof + wired/wireless makes it the better of the two.

I just installed the same winch. Thank you for the video it really helped. One thing I'm having trouble with is that the wireless function of the remote isn't working. The blue light is on but nothing works. Does it need to charge for awhile once installed? The instructions included were almost completely worthless and don't mention charging.
@JeepinBubba3 жыл бұрын
It has non-rechargeable batteries, so maybe they are dead somehow. There is a plastic tab that needs pulled out to make the batteries work
@victorm.3512 жыл бұрын
@Christopher Thayne I have the same problem with the wireless function. I have changed the battery but the winch only work with cable if the blue light is on it still not work. How did you make it work?
@9929kingfish4 жыл бұрын
I just installed the same winch but I neglected to make sure the red cable wasn’t touching anything. It was rubbing up against a pulley belt and it burned off the insulation into the copper. I disconnected it and removed the red cable. I need a replacement red cable now. I’m concerned if I ruined the internals of the winch since there’s no fuse or breaker.
@JeepinBubba4 жыл бұрын
Dang that sucks, the winch has a 7 year warranty and they sell replacement line. Goodluck!

I have my winch all hooked up except for the positive wire. Do you need to install a fuse in the line prior to connecting to the positive terminal? (Like a sub set up). If you’re connecting directly to the battery, does it have any constant draw on your battery and kill the battery?
@JeepinBubba2 жыл бұрын
No fuse is needed, and no battery is used until the remote is wired up. Just fellow the factory instructions and your good to go. Cheers!

Hi Bubba, how do you get the top cover of the control box open. I want to install a longer power cable but I can't open the top cover of the control box to get at the + terminal. The manual was no help. I dont want to force it at this point.....
@JeepinBubba5 жыл бұрын
Is yours the same model or different?
@JeepinBubba5 жыл бұрын
The reason I ask is that some of the boxes are waterproofed and it would be better to just splice an extension.
@ICOWBOYIM5 жыл бұрын
@@JeepinBubba well, it is the same but with wire cable. It's not waterproof cuz I can see and touch the +terminal but can't get a wrench on the nut do to the cover. I emailed the company and I'm waiting a reply. When then, I'll update this comment with their reply. UPDATE: The control box cover unbolted from underneath. 1) unbolt-4 control box. 2) unbolt-4 cover from box. Hats of to VICE DEDIGN-KZbin video explaining how to relocate control box for a Warn VR10 EVO.

Awesome video bro! Love how detailed you got, I loved the honesty and transparency you showed with your partnership with WARN. I'm definitely picking this winch up. I do have a few gripes with it though, from what I heard, these winches are manufactured in China and they doesn't sit too well with me. Although I can't confirm this, but I was wondering if you could? Also, have you considered getting a front bumper with a recessed winch mounting plate? I feel those are the best and allow for maximum airflow to the radiator.
@JeepinBubba4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jake, I have had a few chances now to use the winch and it is seriously impressive. You are correct the VR series is made in china, however it is still designed, tested, and based out of Oregon. Then VR series is made to be more affordable in price that the Zeon series, but similar in quality. I would prefer a USA made winch, however Warn does say that it is made under strict quality control. The Zeon series is still made here state side. I agree that a bumper that has a half sunk design would gain me a few inches in air flow, however, I wanted this design on bumper for the ability to run a antirock system in the future. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

would you have purchased this exact winch if you had to pay the Amazon retail of $744.99 + 9% of of $38 for it? Just curious.
@JeepinBubba4 жыл бұрын
Well, thats a good question, I own a shop so I rarely pay retail. However, I will tell you this, if you plan on keeping your rig for along time and you are a serious offroader, then yes, this is the winch I would choose. Its been fantastic! If you just want a winch to fill a hole, well then go cheap.

I just got mine at the door... 12000 cable warn life time gear warranty... none of that sun shine crap rope... cable last longer.. cheaper, as tow truck drive. The speed on winch is extremely expectable!!

Congrats on the new winch. I have gotten 5 years out of rope, before, I just suggest cleaning it after getting it muddy. I run rope for better safety with less weight. I understand having steel for a tow truck though.
