You just read the instructions. The manual said 4 to 6 seconds. Good job man , you are using the easier sharpener in the world and still you are doing it wrong. Amazing.

I had one of the Eversharp ones. That thing sucked. I went out and bought a 3 piece whetstone kit and have never been happier with the results. All my knives now have a scalpel like edge. Best investment I have ever made for my knives.

Feel like it might work better if you slowed down a bit

Like how you took the 'whiskers' you pulled off and put them back onto the magnet instead of dumping them.

I use a Tormek T-7, not cheap but it's fast and I sharpen everything (knives, chisels, sissors, ect) very quickly

You will not feel a burr if you give the left side 1 stroke and then do 1 stroke on the right side of the blade. In order to get a burr you sharpen 1 side only until you get the burr which will be created on the other side that your not sharpening. Once you get a burr then you start to sharpen the other side until the burr is gone. This is the procedure you follow when using wet stones by hand. If your paper test is jamming then you have a nick at that spot on the blade that needs to be worked out.

That's what I was going to say but oddly the instructions say to keep switching sides.

It seemed to shave arm hair. I’d say it’s sharp enough to cut your steak

I have the model 312 sharpener and got this one because of the America's Test Kitchen show where they advertised a different model which was chosen to be the best one tested. I chose this particular model because I needed one to sharpen my kitchen, and pocket knives, but after having it over a year I just unboxed it for the first time and now will use it to sharpen my knives regularly.

This video is the most un-informed review I have ever seen, spent a lot of time reading us the manual. He should have read it prior to filming. Wasted a lot of everyone's time reading. I don't think he sharpened the knives correctly. Way to fast sharpening, I believe he also sharpened the serrated knife wrong. Serrated knives only get sharpened on the 2nd stage only. Guess he didn't understand the instructions very well. One last thing, you had the magnet removed from the bottom, why did you not clean and remove the shavings before putting it back on. REALLY. You're going to destroy the sharpener. I come across this review 2 years after you posted it. How is the sharpener holding up?
