Quick tip for those living in a more humid climate. I noticed I get better results if I leave the lid slightly opened (3mm - 1/8") during the drying, then seal it shut once its dry. This allows the humidity to get out of the box. Very happy with this dryer and thanks for the nice review.

No kidding. I had droplets forming in the corners of the clear lid and had no idea how to really get below 43% humidity. I tried the crack while it was on and got it down to 27%

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts. I have purchased 2 and also bowden tube thingies. Living in Florida humidity is high and it does not help any that I also have massive amounts of aquariums so having something like this will benefit me tremendously. I will be airing on side of caution and apply all your recommendations.

Prop the lid open with the lid clamps while you're drying, only seal it when you're done drying and no longer have it powered on e.g. storage.

Thanks for this thorough review. Very happy to see I can use a Bowden Tube setup on this. I am (sorta) new to 3D printing and find that not all filaments are created equal. I recently purchased the Pallete 3 Pro (P3P) to play around with and this is where I find my issues in filaments. The slicing will not hold when the filament is brittle, thus how I ended up at your channel looking at different filament dryer boxes. I currently use a direct drive, hopefully, I won't have to tweak the hot end much as you went through. Anyways, I ramble. I ordered 2 of these units to test with. Your review convinced me to give COMGROW a try.

Thank you for the video review. I saw the Bowden tube, link please, attachment part of the video. What do you suggest if my filament is fed from a shelf above the printer?

Sorry for the late reply! The KZbin studio app didn't let me know you commented sadly! But that is the one I ordered. It was $12.99. works great! A bit better then the main brands as well! Plus I have used this on all my FDM printers!

This is really only useful for drying PLA filaments. Unfortunately this unit doesn't get hot enough for any other materials.

Hello so this was so useful ,,, thanks a lot … I’m about to make my decision about a dryer this have been my best choice since I compare with esun and sunlu others would you say it’s a good choice since the day you unboxed it? I appreciate your comments and thanks again for this great video

Thank you for your comment! And yes! The settings are easy to use, and only being able to set it for around 6hrs keeps you from accidentally leaving it on which is nice. 🙂 No problems! Although some filament doesn't always like going through the additional Bowden tube if your printer is in an odd angle

Great review, watched it a few days ago and got one based on your review. New to 3D printing but so far the masses say h2o is the bane of 3D printing. I live near Seattle so humidity is already against me. Hoping this lil guy will tip the scales in my favor. Also from the comments below I saw you mention tossing in a "dry pack" are you referring to a desiccant packet?
@DoubleBitsWorkshop
@DoubleBitsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Yes! Any filament you get comes with it. So you can place the packet in the bottom under the filament.

Hello! I am actually not sure, I found that this one met a reasonable price point as well as met my general needs. I'm sure other expensive dryer boxes have other options depending on what will fit your needs.

What do you make of the power supply? The one I got is definitely NOT CE rated and the thing gets hotter than the dryer. Reviews on Amazon also mention this. Did you have any issues with yours or have you replaced this?
@DoubleBitsWorkshop

I have not had this issue. The power supply has and continues to work as it should for me.

Max of 50C is a deal killer for me... I need to be able to dry PA and PC.
@DoubleBitsWorkshop
@DoubleBitsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
If you need that much constant high heat. Then there's not too many budget priced dryers that can safely fit the bill. I was looking at a standard turn knob style dryer box with no gauges so I could balance budget and all the filament bases for myself. But I don't use pa or PC. So this one fit my needs exactly. But my suggestion for consistent heat and a good unit is look for less weighing scales and extras and look for a higher amperage unit with a turn knob.

Great informative video as always. Though I'll admit some of the terms used when it comes to 3D printing went over my head. I was wondering though if using the filament dryer box with your 3D printer had the print times reduced or remained the same. I am looking at getting a 3D printer myself but I'm trying to learn how to design basic things in fusion 360 first before investing in a 3D printer as I don't want to buy one and then just print off what other people have placed online. I'd rather get my moneys worth out of the 3D printer. Another question. I saw online a suggested video about 3D printing fabric like material. I was just wondering if you or your wife has ever dabbled in that or thought of trying that. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work and thank you for making the knowledge you have and the results you found out when using the filemant dryer box available to your audience. Cheers.

Hello and sorry for the late reply this last week! As far as printing times are concerned, the only thing I think has really made a difference with the FDM printer is increasing speed. I get where you're going though as we do have a resin 3D printer and we have modified it to have a heater coil inside the main box, as having the resin warm allows for better layer lines as well as you can increase speed of movement when the resin is more viscose. We have seen the 3D printed fabric materials and the concept is actually really cool. My wife has the tulle needed to make it work so we have thought about it but haven't quite gotten around to trying it out. That may just have to be a future video just so we can say we tried it! Thanks as always for the wonderful comment.

I purchased it last week and it didnt seem to work very well and the prongs on the plug are SUPER slim and flimsy, one broke off in 4 days. The plugs on top dont stay in very well. Seems super cheaply made and not very sturdy.. it also gets REALLY hot on the bottom and makes the table super hot. I ended up having to put a marble trophy bottom under it so it wouldnt warp the table.

I did not get the answer on the only auestion I had after wathing an entire video. What is the temperature inside? 50С is not enough even for ABS. This dryer is a ridiculous abomination, that cheated me to buy it, because on the official site it was statin 85C max (!)

I tested mine and it only got to about 108 on the inside and the humidity is not even close to accurate. This unit seems to be great until you actually challenge it. Weight the spools before and after and you should se it doesn't work. I couldn't get mine to get the humidity under what is in my room.

@DoubleBitsWorkshop
@DoubleBitsWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
So far this one has been great! Plus two spools at once. And you don't have to worry about the power switch staying on or not fully turning off! I looked abit more into a lot of other dryers and either they never got to a temp that dried or a lot never fully turned off so they had a good chance of catching fire
