Going by the replies I believe it would be best to purchase the MiFi device plus a SIM card for your mobile. Why as your mobile phone sim by another company will eventually block you for using the MiFi device. The MiFi device comes with a SIM card & its own mobile number. All are delivered by DPD couriers as stated on three website which is 2 days. If you order a separate sim for your mobile that will come separately via Royal Mail. Everything arrived within 2 days.

Just wondering how you got on because I've been told I may get better speeds from a 4g router than I would a copper wire. What are your thoughts of it now a year on?
@michaelbjrklund93044 ай бұрын
Excellent! Thanks. Have used these routers since like for ever. Feels like the first one I got was in 2005 or so. The ONLY problem I have ever had with them is that the battery swells and often ruins the box. And grows too big to use, so I have to buy a new one. Keep up te good work. Thanks fro Denmark (ueah.. all of Denmark, of course 🙂 Or just me).

You need to connect the MiFi device to the laptop & connect it to the laptop via the small white cable. Remember to press & hold the power button to start the mobile MiFi device while it’s connected to the laptop. Just click everything to connect. Be patient as when your laptop restarts it’s a good sign. You may have to login 3 or 4 separate times just to login properly & get connected to a laptop be it personal or company laptop

I live in a rural area which you suggested you have the same problems as we do and 4G is the only way we have to connect to the internet. At present, I pay for an expensive EE 4g system using a Huawei router 4G. I use extenders around the house, so as my wife can access her computer and at the other end I am using it in my workshop. Can this mini 4G router be extended to allow access over a greater area? I will be using it when we get our campervan setup. The 3 network would be cheaper to access the internet, that is for sure.

Ping times on video games?? im using normal wifi is good but it would bottleneck 24/7 50ms to 100ms to 200ms every couple of seconds even while using an ethernet cable and having a netgear nighthawk gaming router, the reason I am getting 4g is to prevent this so how is the ping on multiplayer games are you getting 60ms and is stable not jittering 24/7 consistently or is it doing the same as the one my Normal Wifi that I mentioned above. P.S. I don't mind if if I get 70 or 80 ms on video games, I just want the ping time to stay stable and not jitter like I do with Sky Wifi etc

Great video Kip! I'm in need of your advice if you get any time to read this comment I would love to hear your opinion... For motorhome living of 1/2 people in the UK mostly around city areas, with medium/heavy use of the internet - would you recommend just going for a phone mobile plan with unlimited data to use the mobile hotspot for internet access or would you recommend a MiFi plan? Just ordered one as I work away a lot, how is the battery life? Says 6 hours, is it anything close to that?
@kiphakes3 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's not far off to be honest. It really depends what you're doing.. If you're hammering it with lots of devices and streaming HD / UHD stuff it will be a bit less.

does the sim come with the mifi or do you have to get a sim seperately

Depends where you buy it.. Directly from a network operator will have a sim.. Otherwise no

Do I already need to have a three SIM card on a phone or do I need to get one for a phone in order to have the mifi working? So basically would I need 2 three SIM cards one in my phone and one in the router? Because I’m in o2 on my phone and they don’t offer as good monthly plans for the mifi as three does. Is it ok if I’m with o2 on my phone and then with three for the mifi? Sorry if it’s a bit confusing tried to do some research but can’t find out anywhere, thought you would know?
@kiphakes3 жыл бұрын
No you just have the sim in the Mifi, it just creates a new WiFi network for phones, tablets and computers to connect to

While connected to it type - 192.168.8.1 into the browser that should bring it up.

@@kiphakes I keep getting confused because my device was set up for me 18 months ago & I just used it even though not good signal. Then Three data ran out & I left it for ages. Couple of months ago got smarty SIM. Was ok for first 3 weeks then kept losing signal or being very slow. Online chatting with smarty didn't help. When I look at the dashboard I get confused with 3 because it's a 3 device but has Smarty SIM. Don't know if I'm making sense? But there's a my3 tab that says enter 3 phone number, but I don't have 3 phone number anymore, even though I know they are kinda the same company

Hey Kip, I can't tell from the three website, would I have to buy a separate Sim card for this or do they supply it?

I purchased mine from three 2 days ago & it arrived on time ie 2 days. Cost is £25 per month £19 for MiFi device/Sim card/gas it’s own mobile number plus SIM card for mobile £6 per month. You will need to get a separate SIM card for your mobile otherwise it will block you for connecting onto the MiFi device via your mobile
