Looks like you got an eheim 350 surface skimmer. Im the one who mentioned the surface film on your tank in the last video. I use those surface skimmers as well in some tanks like my 60g hexagon reef and a fresh water tank From experience i will tell you to get a old fish net you dont use anymore. And cut the net out and ziptie it to the floating skimmer bobby thing. And cut small holes in the openeings to alloe it to flow properly. This is to keep snails. And fish from getting in there and dying. Trust me i learned the hardway and had snails and bangai cardinals and neon tetras in fresh water and so forth die in them before i added a net. Also take your watch off. Salt water does and will corrode even stainless steel even if you think you rinsed it in fresh water. Trust me i learned the hardway too

@@spence7732 do you just use rodi water instead? Thanks
@spence7732
@spence7732 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bamacher59 i just use the water from the bag and add the coral dip. then when im done i clean them off in fresh saltwater som,etimes from the tank if im lazy and ive even used just rodi with no salt becuse youre just rinsing them off for a couple seconds and i havent had any problems. id try to use saltwater as much as possible but in a crunch you shouldnt need to worry as much. I accidentally dipped a coral withput the coral water from the bag and accidentally used cold rodi without even salt. cold, and no salt. yet the coral was perfectly fine. most corals are more resillient than youd think because they have to survive the harshness of the wild

All my years of having marine and seeing others systems I’ve never seen a tank that clean, to me it’s not cycled in yet unless he knows something I don’t.
@DannysAquariums
@DannysAquariums 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Christopher. Andrew, I use a gravel vacuum to siphon out the water and that helps keep the sand really clean. Prior to maintenance, the sand looks kind of gross. Make sure there's movement in your sand either manually or by introducing starfish, gobies, or sand sifting snails.

Tank is looking great and fantastic mix of corals too. Tank would looks even better with 2 or 3 small fish and corals would also benefit from fish waste. Definitely like taking frag plugs off to remove risk of aiptasia, eggs or other unwanted nasties but why not remove before you dip?

@@Berkmnn The answer is: Yes. He does.
@garrycole9187
@garrycole9187 3 жыл бұрын
@@Berkmnn , he probably does it when it is needed or the tests shows levels are creeping up. He doesn't have any fish or none that I can see so as long as he doesn't use reef roids or AB+ and feed his coral to a minimum, water changes and some dosing is all that is needed. Most of his stock is LFS and softies so the tank can be a little dirty which is what his stock would prefer.

Hi there, if I see that correctly, you don't have a filter on your aquarium. Just two flow pumps, a heating rod and a decent lamp, right? How much effort do you have with daily / weekly / monthly maintenance? How many water changes do you do? How much water do you regularly top up? Where does your salt water come from? So do you use osmosis water and salt (which one)? Perhaps you have already answered these questions and can give me a hint? Otherwise, I could imagine such a video about your tanks really well. Your aquariums look great. Keep it up. greetings from Berlin Dennis

I hope that's not a new setup putting all that beautiful coral in there .....which it is because there's no coraline algee on the rocks yet... you'll be losing alot of that though when she crashes because of the enevitible cycles its got to go through. Been there done that . Made all those exact mistakes. Easy to do, this hobby is addictive and memorizing indeed! Good luck 👍
