You got a good spotted one. The pots I got last year was horrible. Way smaller, having black pot and snails. I was so disappointed I had to nurse them back to health. I will stick to David Austin bare root roses only going forward.

I 100% agree with you. The ones I received in the video were overall pretty healthy but they were 50% the size of the ones online. The Lady did have some black spot. In CA I will not be buying them in 2qt again for a couple of reasons. First I received them during summer and they didnt like at all trying to root in during the hot hot summer. Second, the price. It wasn't worth the added price. Good comment Cassandra :0)

Always thought that David Austin should do mystery rose. You pay a few dollars extra and they include a random rose. Sounds fun!

Beautiful roses ! But is it me or at least the first plant seemed to have problems on its leaves ? However, I hope they'll establish without problem in your garden and you'll enjoy them for years to come :) I have a few David Austin roses, not so famous ones but they do look good too: Geoff Hamilton (its rose cups do not like heavy rain), Abraham Darby, a wonderful rose (colour and scent), Graham Thomas (fruity scent, very healthy), and the latest additions are Lady of Shallot, gorgeous, with the colour changing during the day, Princesse Charlene de Monaco which I adore, and one called Isabelle Autissier putting on her first bloom ever, can't wait to see the others !

You have a very good eye….I was disappointed at the over all plant I got. The lady Gardner has some ratty yellow leaves and maybe some black spot. Two days after planting all of the leaves fell off. I am keeping her nice and watered and I am shading her from the hot-hot sun. I’m hopeful she will rebound. But yes not their best plant 😕

olivia gets fragrant only from the third/fourth year which is a long wait and you need to prune it lower to ensure strong stems. But it's the best looking flower out of the whole range for sure.

GLENN! I happy to have to found your channel and to know that you have both Eustacia Vye & Emily Brontë Roses. Having initially wanted Ice Berg Roses (classic, pure white) I’m looking to pivot and go with either Eustacia Vye or Emily Brontë (Quantity of 3). As they both are supposed to do well in shady conditions, which 1 of 3 will be placed more so in, if I’m looking to go more white (even considering when they age) would Emily Brontë be the one? If so, how would you compare it to Desdemona? I like Desdemona from the videos I’ve watched, but I’m also not a fan of the blooms facing downward.
@intheglenn
@intheglenn 8 ай бұрын
Hey!!! I'm glad you found it to. I love both of those roses for different reasons. As I mentioned EB is stunning, but for me the sent wasnt there. Eustacia has been tough to grow because I have only been getting small flushes of flowers, but then sent is great. My last property had 3 ice berg roses and that shrub was ALWAY covered in blooms!!!

@intheglenn glad to have found your channel. I planted an Iceberg about a month ago and it's already budding up nicely! I wasn't sure at first but now looking forward to seeing it bloom. I have it near Dancing in the Dark which has come up blind this year. The weather has been difficult with it being a mild winter until mid-March, and then, freezing temps. Oh well, that's gardening life! Montreal, QC zone 6a/b

@@intheglenn The website says it has an Old Rose fragrance. Is it similar to Gertrude Jekyll or others like Mr Lincoln? Or is it distinct enough to be worth getting?
@intheglenn
@intheglenn Жыл бұрын
@@shahrokhnaqvi9613 To me I dont understand why they call it an old fragrance, I don't think so at all. To me it is very citrus smelling and I mainly smell lemons. In my rose review of Desdemona I called it fresh, while someone in the comments said baby power which is another great way to describe it.

'Gabriel Oak' and 'Eustacia Vye' smelled strong right out of the box. Emily Bronte (in fool bloom) did have the scent while unboxing but it was somewhat weaker than that of 'Silas Marner' which, in turn, was OK but significantly weaker than Gabriel's and Eustacia's.

@intheglenn keeping my fingers crossed.. I have bought all my DA roses either from Heirloom Roses or local nurseries, and only 1, Eustacia Vye, was purchased bare root this month from DA.. it arrived in pretty poor condition, which really upset me as I thought DA would be exemplary in the customer service, but now it is leafing.. we'll see when it will be blooming but I am extremely impatient to see particularly that rose blooming 🙂

Do you regularly spray your roses for diseases?
@intheglenn
@intheglenn Жыл бұрын
I dont regularly spray, but I have had to use some sprays to battle black spot, white flies and powder mildew. I had 3 weeks this year where the Japanese beetles came and ate most of my first flush. If they hadn't, I think the roses would have looked much better in the video. 😖They were awful to deal with and I would have to go out multiples times per day and take them off the roses.....it was the closest I have ever been to buying a chemical spray. If you have roses do you spray and what have been your results?
@nourabdullah1644

I’m new to growing roses. I’ve battled the desire to introduce roses to my garden because I knew they are fussy, but I couldn’t resist anymore haha. I’m using neen oil as recommended by many Rosarians. So far, I don’t have black spot issues, just minor sawfly problem. I’ll let you know if the neem oil is helping. On a different note, but I really want to get some David Austin roses, however, I was late and they sold out on all roses! Do you know when they usually restock?
