I know this is 2 years old now, but still I want to say that I love Pablo pencils. The colour range is so different and lovely. I started with an 18 count set and found that with layering, and use of black and white, I could generate just about any colour or tint or tone that I needed. Gorgeous to work with. I now have the 120 set. They are a dream on toned paper.

It's a wonderful gift! I think they are actually quite affordable in comparison to the Lightfast and Luminance, they are more along the price range of Polychromos! I hope you try them out soon because I'd like to see your take on them, and of course the white pencil! Wow, that is an incredibly generous gift! I've never tried the Pablo's and they looked so pretty when you opened the tin. Just gorgeous! And those tin trays are excellent. Really pretty colours on your swatch chart and I love the hummingbird. I'm not jealous at all....oh you know I am, lol! Also congrats on reaching 4k, that's awesome.

I recently purchased these Pablo pencils. I love the unique colors that you do not find in other sets. I am impressed with the number of blues and greens. This set is great for landscape drawings. I thought I would not like the thinner core but when doing very fine details they are the best. I have a lot of Derwent pencils which have large cores. I find that when drawing miniature details I can't see over the larger cores. I wish they came in the order of yellow to grey. If I have to work with harder pressure then these pencils are not suitable for that paper. There have been pencils like Derwent Procolour that I disliked as I had to use harder pressure and I got sore hands. All of those things changed when I used a different paper and now I enjoy using them.

Pablos are great, they additionally are my favorite for coloring books. Procolour is too much for me maybe I can try them again on different papers

They are a really beautiful set! I made a white pencil comparison video recently. Some seem to be better at creating highlights, blending, etc. I like having multiple because they’re all pretty different

thank you so much:) It is hard because my favorite colored pencils are polychromos, I think these would be second, and then luminance-yes luminance has an edge for being so lightfast, but gosh they are expensive and some of the colors can have manufacturing problems due to the supply/demand

I have the 60 set and thought there would be more browns in the 120 set, this firm really emphasizes blue and green tones .

It’s definitely a lot different from the other sets I have. I think polychromos and luminance have a nice assortment of browns, luminance is great with skin tones, and the pablos set seems well suited for bright artwork- maybe coloring!

Love your videos ❤ I have a question: I am currently in the process of buying a bigger colored pencil set- and I want to decide between the carandache pablo set of 120 and the Derwent lightfast set of 100 What would you personally think? Do you love the Pablos so much as you did when you bought them? And Do you think I shall choose the pablos or the Lightfasts? (The price and which are more lightfast is not really important- its much more important which are the better colored pencils 😅)

Hi, I have only tried a few individual Derwent Lightfasts before, but I have heard so many good things about them. They are on my buy list. I believe they are more lightfast than the Pablos. I still like my Pablos, they have a lot of very colorful colors which I do not always use in the type of art I gravitate toward. If you live in the US or UK, maybe you can buy some individual pencils to try before the entire set, to get a feel for them! Best of luck

Hey I didn’t know there were two designs for the Pablos! I like the metal tin and metal trays mine came with! The luminance cardboard box has been through a lot (a few years and a whole move) and it has a few knicks and stuff but overall great at protecting the pencils inside!

@@AlexisCassandraArt Thanks! They chanege the box design last February. The original design is silver tix box with colorful illustration print on it. The new design is simple all red tin box with an added-on cardboard jacket.

They use Blue Wool, I counted about 6 colors that have only a 1 star rating out of 3, but most of the colors have a 2 star rating which is very good but not excellent - around under 50 colors have excellent lightfastness

No, they are not! I believe the Polychromos have more lightfast colors so I would still recommend that set overall, especially if you are getting your first set

I think, but I'm not absolutely sure, that Lachri Fine Art uses these for details. I have polychromos and might get Luminance but I don't use them to do full works of art. I use them for details occasionally and in mixed media. They are just far to painful for me to use for entire works due to nerve damage in my shoulders, elbows and hands. I was inspired by Lachri to get them even though I don't use them the same way she does. I prefer watercolor for something all in one medium as they are far easier to use for me.

Oh yeah, polychromos are a very firm pencil! Holding a pencil for too long can be hard on the hand, so I understand why that could be an issue. I know Lachri uses a LOT of pencils so I wouldn’t be surprised if she uses these too!
