Wouldn’t it be interesting to arrange the cards in the order following red noted numbers and see what comes out? This deck has so many messages and ideas. On one hand I want to dive in to explore, on the other hand I am not sure that I have enough of the lifetime to do that.

Ooh it would be a commitment, much like trying to figure out the Sola Busca. (I'm not sure, but I think the SB is a bigger mystery tbh.) Yes, putting them in order might make an interesting video, however, while I was perusing the deck, some numbers in the sequence appeared to be missing. Thank you for watching. ~ Marilyn

The Melancholia design is a famous print by Durer. The extra pip cards are from Aluette... which de Gebelin had oddly included in his article on the Tarot.

Ahh, ok. I did say they might have been from Aluette. I ended up thinking of them as extra cheat sheets to help remember the attributes for a particular card. Darn, I didn't catch the reference to Durer's print. How did I miss that? Thank you for clarifying. ~ Marilyn

I'll need to rewrite my comment from the video you shared yesterday. It somehow disapeared when I tried to modify some text. It was such a great video and came up with so many thoughts thanks to you. Anyway...I write it again. Don 't get me wrong what Marco did again is a pure treasure for collectors but I don't have the bond coz of all the notes everywhere on each cards. I would have loved a neat Tarot from Suzanne Bernardin coz her colors and details are just beautiful and refreshing❤ I might changed my mind in few days or weeks but this tarot would stay enclosed in his book box which I hate doing. I like to use all my tarot and oracle as often I can but I get that for collectors it s a must have! So I am happy for you guys! 😊 and again well done to Marco there is such an investment in everything he does I like that 👏👏 A big thank you to you too for such a great review !! 💋

Thank you! Your comment should still be there, I didn't delete it. I wonder why you can't find it? Although I may not use occultist decks with regularity, I do enjoy learning more about them and how they employed tarot in their practices. I love learning and tarot teaches so many cool historic concepts. Thank you for watching this video, I know it was a long one. I'll be releasing a 2nd video on this video because I felt the need to discuss it more than once. ~ Marilyn

@MarilynFromTarotClarity no idea but yes I ll rewrite it coz I am sure you'd like to hear my thoughts on some of the stars, sun cards you shared yesterday. Thoughts I have never had before and so interesting. As good as the "straw" I mentioned you for the yellow/black used on the vachier.😉

Hey, Marilyn, great video! Amazing deck! I just wanted to pop in and say that the red numbers appear to correspond more to his kabalistic numbering system, so he has the courts and pips numbered by the value of their emanation: kings in order, then queens with queens, tens with tens, sevens with sevens, etc. Keep up the great work!
@MarilynFromTarotClarity2 күн бұрын
Thank you for explaining! It's above my pay grade, but i knew he had a reason.

@@MarilynFromTarotClarity After a little observation and digging, the first twenty-two trumps are zero through twenty-one, then Lévi begins with the King of Wands as 22, King of Cups as 23, King of Swords as 24, King of Coins as 25. He then continues the sequence with the Queens as 26 through 29 in the same suit rotation. This should continue for each in this order from King through Ace. Oddly, this does conclude the series with the Ace of Coins being 77, the last card in a 78 card deck because he keeps the Fool as Zero.

Thank you! Yes, what you suggest makes sense. I mean, not that numbering the courts makes sense to me, but it does seem to be what he was going for. Thank you for sharing. ~ Marilyn

I didn’t watch every one of your videos ( yet ;) mainly because I try to spend less time on internet, but I did spend this hour with a cup of tea seating in your virtual parlor enjoying Saturday morning and letting all my thoughts and theories wonder and some even connect. Thank you. Also, really resonated with the connection to nature and how you described yourself in this universe.

Ohhh and we are not witches or whatever other name people like to call us. We are just open mind people, sensitive, creative and curious about everything that surround us. I won t call it a gift we are just "choosen" coz "they" know we can handle it. I lost so many friends thinking I was going nuts when they saw me doing reading with my first tarot. That would be a good video if you could share your experience about that and how people changed or not with you...and how you arrived to tarots if you haven t done such video. I'd love to hear that coz I sometime feel pretty alone and lost in that "witch" comnunity 😅

Yes, I've done many videos of my early years with tarot. I've got over 500 videos, so I realize it isn't easy for folks to catch up on all my videos. The study of tarot teaches so many concepts. It's a great way to learn about little about world history.

The numbers on the pips appear to be assigned by laying out all four suits of the same value and assigning sequential numbers starting with the kings, then the queens as so on with the highest numbers on the aces

Yes! I eventually figured that out. Thank you for sharing your observations about that. It's fascinating to see Levi's notations and to get a glimpse into his thinking. I'd think it would be confusing, but it made sense to him. Thank you for watching and commenting. ~ Marilyn

The tracings of the Hebrew Letters on the cards looks pretty forced to me. No wonder there were several different versions of which card went with which letter.

Thanks for another great video Marilyn. I think the beauty of the deck is that it was hand done and not painted with stencils. I would read with the deck as if it was a Suzanne, and leave the occult stuff for Levi. I thought I would be a little creaped out by the occult lettering and writing on the cards, but in person it doesn't bother me. It is just interesting. And another great Marco Benedetti creation. I think that is why it doesn't bother me. I also think it is cool that you can also use it as a Besancon.
@MarilynFromTarotClarity3 күн бұрын
@CaseyMay54 All excellent points. I'll probably do a few video readings. But on the daily, if I were to use it, I'd do exactly as you suggest, read it using the Suzanne and leaving the occult stuff to Lévi. Marco has a good eye for choosing historic decks. The quality is outstanding. I'd buy anything Marco was selling. I had at least 2 other Etteilla decks, but it wasn't until I got my hands on Marco's Etteilla that I was motivated to scrutinize it and compare it to other decks. I'm not an occultist, but I can appreciate a historic deck. I'm so happy you enjoyed the video. I was learning as I was doing the video. I did another first review of the deck which I'll probably release tomorrow. It's a bit more concise. ~ Marilyn

This is interesting… The box is beautiful and the cards are stunning… I’m curious if the pronunciation would be the same as Levi (Strauss) jean’s and not like the actors Eugine and Dan Levy? I’m sure it would be more like Lee-vi, but I could be wrong… Like I said before with my surname Crowley, it’s with the Ow sound and I can verify that because my Paternal Grandfather came from Ireland! Sorry, for correcting you it just has bug me on how it gets mispronounced… My late maternal cousin Jacquie said that I’m a witch, but I just say spiritual… I feel that it inclusive and encompass other religions… The word “cult” is in culture, as religions are social construct anyway… Actually, Pagans came before Catholicism, the Romans wiped many out becoming superior and stigma others claim for being witches and burning at the stake.

I listen to pronunciation videos for names I pronounce because I want to at least be in the same ball park. That being said, while speaking naturally, I slip in and out of proper pronunciations. It's one of those details I hope others don't get hung up on. I've yet to meet someone who's pronounced my last name properly without being told how beforehand. It's not a big deal to me when someone mispronounced my surname, and I hope most folks can get past my American pronunciations. Still, i try to pronounce a name the way the person pronounced it for him or her self. Thank you for watching, I hope you enjoyed the content.
@sarahcrowley22773 күн бұрын
@ That is a fair point… I think it’s because back in high school I have heard my surname mispronounced so many times in high school, that I got hung up over. It is also because the two birds Crow and Owl in my name, and the former seems an awful bird… When I hear a name I always do my best to pronounce it accurately. It really a bonus to hear the accurate way, as I can say “You got my name right!”. Yeah, it’s interesting to learn historical context and seeing the beautiful art work in the decks. The Hebrew and alternative versions Levi decided to use is fascinating.

@sarahcrowley2277 It's not clear to me if he used a 100 card deck, or if the additional 14 aluette cards were merely another (partial) deck of playing cards he had. The thing about mentioning AC's name, is that I was referencing him, and not anyone else who might have that same surname. He probably pronounced it his way to emphasize the crow. He seemed to thrive on controversy and he probably figured it would piss people off. Which it has 🤣. He was a stinker I guess.
@sarahcrowley22773 күн бұрын
@That is interesting… He did change his first name Alexander to Aleister (latter a Scottish’s name). I’m pretty sure as both myself and AC are born in England, he would pronounce with the “Ow” sound (Crowley is Anglicized of O’Cruadlaoich). It’s also how others in popular culture like David Bowie and Ozzy Osbourne have referenced him… The latter Ozzy had a song called “Mr Crowley”. That has quite a dark heavy vibe… I know slightly off subject but my Uncle Kev has met Sharon and Jack Osbourne. Sharon’s father Don Arden is buried at my Uncle cemetery, as both Sharon and Don are from Manchester, England where I live… I also found it strange how much my hand writing is like his and my uncle! My cousin Josh resembles AC too!
