Elvis Presley Singles Hits CD Sets and Collections Discussion - mini-vinyl 45rpm-style CDs!
NOTE: The January 1957 (alternate) master of "I Beg Of You" is take 12, not take 6.
One of the most fun things about collecting is all the ways one can collect, and the mini-vinyl style was huge for collectors! In this video, Jamie and John look at three different collections of CDs in the mini-vinyl format; one from the U.S., and two from the U.K., to show the different approaches to the artwork, as well as showing both hits and singles from the sets that didn't make it to the U.S. at all!

Speaking of Crying in the chapel… here’s link to Carol Fran ( who had her version of song out) ..talking about when she directly confronted Elvis about that song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnWXp56ljsppbbMsi=UsO6JtCC6PLCgC6- I heard about this video on TCB cast and had never heard it before and so curiously looked it up. This type of first hand story really made me appreciate Elvis ‘s generosity even more. It needs to be viewed more as I was amazed it had such limited views.

Great video guys. Love these sets. The US & UK 1's sets appear to be companion sets. I have a version of the UK set however my box looks narrower and the singles don't have the cool replica inners. 😢 I'm a tad annoyed now lol. The 2nd UK set looks great too. I didn't know about that one at all. As a collector of 45's, I can tell you that the RCA inner sleeves in the UK sets appear to be accurate. I own a lot of Elvis 45's, mostly Australian plus quite a few NZ & UK as well asva few others. I really enjoyed this video guys. Thanks 😊👍👍

It's funny, because I go through periods of really wanting to listen to Elvis's early songs, and then, later periods of his career, at different times. I usually don't mix his entire career at the same time. And I've always been like that!😄 If that makes sense the way I said it!😊 But it's pretty much Elvis,all the time!🙂👍 Great video guys!!!

Thank you so much! Yeah, I can definitely understand that - I think I mix them around a bit at times since I got used to that in Memphis, but I agree; when I want to listen to something, it's usually one specific period in Elvis's musical history, then another!

The two UK boxes compliment each other with no duplicates, buying the US box for a UK collector is tough due to the cost and the fact that only 4 are exclusive plus the correct Heartbreak Hotel cover. Great video.

I have the 2 U.K box sets but I need to purchase the U.S one, you are correct we did not have picture covers in the U.K until "Suspicious Minds" (and then for only another 5 singles before going back to R.C.A paper covers) .In the U.K "Make Me Know It" was the B side to "Its Now Or Never" which is why it is included on the C.D "A Mess Of Blues" was a B side to the single release in the U.K of "The Girl Of My Best Friend" which was the single released previous to "Its Now Or Never" also the B Side of "Wooden Heart" in the U.K was "Tonight Is So Right For Love " which is why that is included hope this helps, thanks for the great video.

I Keep coming back to this video, watched it 3 times now, Wooden Heart is paired with Puppet on a String as they wanted to use a picture cover, so used the US '65 release, in the UK Wooden heart went to number one in '61 paired with Tonight Is So Right For Love, this explains it being used as the bonus track in between the Two Cover songs.

You guys sold me on the US singles box, found one still in the shrink wrap on eBay for $40 so I grabbed it. I love the mini LP CD sets, the US set looks amazing, hope it sounds good. And I will rip each disc to my PC to make a playlist on my Sony digital audio player, along with my Pono. That's right, I'm one of the 3 people who bought a Pono, that thing has amazing sound! Love the channel, thanks for adding my name in the credits of the latest episode!

I remember these singles being released in the UK they were originally numbered limited editions for collectors. The first issues sold out in the first week they realised that they had a hit on their hands I argued for 10,000 to be issued so we got more #1s for Elvis but the collectors wanted to keep it limited One Night got to #1 because they issued a few more. This all goes in the Elvis history books. When One Night got to #1 I watched Top of The Pops to see what footage of Elvis they were going to show they couldn't get rights to show any and a tribute act mimed from what I remember. They couldn't get rights Elvis footage when they released the Rubbernecking single. There are self interested parties who are not about working for the common good of Elvis and his history. His history is an ongoing thing it's not stuck in the past. Some people are working against the interests of Elvis as a current cultural figure.

Hi Guys, Great show!!! The UK labels and RCA sleeves are very good reproductions as a comment below said none of the 50s / 60's singles came with a picture sleeve. The first was in 1969 - Specious Minds. Then 5 other releases followed but all using the same Photo, why oh why??? Then we had to wait till 1978 for then next picture sleeve which was a re-release of Don't be Cruel (A-side, printed on the sleeve. ha ha) and Hound Dog (B-side). This was not a photo butt a good illustration from 1956, the next single had a photo from 1968 but the songs were Old Shep (A-side) and Paralysed. (B-side).

If you notice from Elvis’ 1950’s, 45 RPM singles, one song will be listed and instead of B/W (backed with), it will say, CW (coupled with), see where I’m going with this? 😊

These are beautiful sets. It's so odd that His Latest Flame / Little Sister wasn't a #1 in the US. I assume Elvis chose that single like usual but both songs deserved be separate singles. They are that stellar!

I bought the American version when it came out,the cds do look cool but i prefer the two vinyl box sets released by the collectables label in 2002, they're on red vinyl with great replicas of the nipper labels,two volumes were released with picture sleeves for the singles that didnt have them on original release ,these came in wooden cases with cool designs.

I bought the UK set weekly from a store called Woolworths. Big problem was they weren't wrapped and had a barcode sticker on them with extremely strong adhesive so when you tried to remove it, you had to take great care not to rip it

Hi Jamie, I just got myself a DVD copy and watched (for the first time!) ...the (2005) Elvis 'the Early Years' movie, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyer and Randy Quaid. I approached it with an "open mind" and man, I must say ....I really loved it! I thought it was excellently done! I mean Johnathan's no Austin, when it comes to the moves, but, as a Biopic, I thought they stayed pretty faithful to the facts and timelines. I'd be interested to know what you and John thought of it??

I couldn't get past JRM - his whole approach to Elvis is, imo, wrong, and.. yeah, we'll have to do a long talk about that one at some point, because my original viewing sent me off on a tangent that ended up with the 3-season outline John and I now have about Elvis's life. I do remember liking Randy Quaid as the Colonel, though!

I have the first two sets you went over but I never bought the third one. The 2nd set (black), did I understand correctly that you bought the entire set in the box at once? I don't know what happened later but initially the way it was sold was that the singles were released weekly in chronological order in the U.K. The first single: "All Shook Up" was the only one sold in the box. Then I did all I could to get each single release each week to fill up the box. Certain singles were extremely difficult to find at first. I ended up having to do a few ebay bids to get a numbered single. I will have to look but I think that two of mine that are in the box are not numbered at all as they were a 2nd pressing not 1st pressing limited edition.

Waylon, I'm glad you asked! Funny story; I got a bunch of them individually when they were coming out, but then found the box set later that year - so I have and extra copy of about 5 or 6 of them!

I'm in the UK. I collected the black 1 box and the red one that has the the crown on it. Had to buy the cd singles individually. I've never seen the red box with 1 on it so guessing it's the us version of the same thing?

Thank you so much! And the shirts/jackets are mostly (but not all) made in the 90s by my Grandmother, who passed away in 2011. So wearing these again after so many years is a small tribute to her. 😁
