It’s interesting that they advertise the wellspring tiles as this multi color tile and the one in the box is clear plastic.

I just heard about the return of heroscape a week ago... Dug out my old starter set and dnd figures, i cant wait to get back into this after almost 15 years

The wellspring water is not what Rengade advertised; we should get more than just white ice-like tiles and more what is shown on the product pre-order page. Hope they fix it in time! This was supposed to be a highlight of the battle box set after all! That said, the varying base sizes are really a good change! Glad they went with rubber material for weapons; I had many 3D reprints of old models break. Paintjob is decent in my opinion in this set!

They better fix those trees. I'm a bit disappointed. It's hard to miss this kind of flaw during production..

I'm not big on the straight edges of terrain. I definitely prefer the more jagged edges of the classic, as it has a more worn, ground like appearance (as much as plastic terrain can). I'm a little baffled by some of the other changes, like the glyphs and dice. I just think, "Why?" Especially the glyphs as they made them more boring for no gain. Even with all the issues, I'm still stoked for this to come out. Super bummed to miss out on ScapeCon and GenCon this year. Ewashia is my favorite unit sculpt-wise. I think they did a really well on that one. I've only played one game, with a proxy, but I think she will do well. Laur trees, well, we'll leave that comment for your Laur tree video...

Okay now that I've watched the unboxing, I got a few things. I'm not a fan of the figure bases varying in size. I'm just not. I think it could cause some issues with accidentally knocking them over especially for the ones with real small bases, and whether or not they will fit against a ladder. It's also a concern because that puts single hex figures with larger bases at a severe disadvantage when it comes to fitting in those tight spaces that smaller based figures can fit. Moving on to the wellspring water, it appears I can save myself a ton of money by simply buying ice tiles off ebay and downloading a fan made pdf of the wellspring water rules. The laur trees not being flush is a major disappointment of mine because was on the fence about getting the laur tree set but since they don't sit right, I can't in good faith put my money toward the set. The figures themselves look great imo, despite the glaring conflict of color with bok bur na and OG marro figures. I wasn't really a fan of getting the familiar figures but after seeing them in this setting, I'm feeling more open to them. As for the army cards, I still hate them. Whenever I do get the sets, I'm definitely going to be doing some photoshop to make the new army cards more like originals. Last thing about the army cards is I hate that flying is left blank. Us OG's may know what it does, but new players may not understand it. It just screams lazy to have the flying ability blank. As for the glyphs. Too plain and boring. That's all I'm gonna say. Same effort as with the flying ability. Lazy

good video! so glad to see this coming out again. I think the treetop is loose so you can fit it back in the box. as for the marro, you could throw a lick of a brown wash over it, but then you might as well paint it. same about the fitting on the trees though. ohhhh I just got to the crisp edges of the large piece, I like the crisp edges better! maybe they should migrate that to all the new terrain. that might also fix the problem with the trees.

Isn't that particular Marro supposed to be from some other clan/hive, and now cut off from his brethren? The different color seems intentional as part of that lore element.

Definitely gonna have to sand down the inner lining of those jungle pieces if they're all like that. Hopefully it's just a couple defective ones here

I can’t say I like the “perfect” hexes on the 24 hex tile. I’d like if they would at least explain the reasoning behind that and I wish they had been up front about it rather than letting everyone assume the new tiles would match the old ones. Just another minor nitpick against the reboot, but another one that I’ll ignore to keep supporting the game.

What I’m most concerned about is that they didn’t improve the dice by maybe adding indented patterns. My issue is that the paint is coming off of my dice. The originals blue and red are completely worn off and the newer ones are fading a bit. How do you guys keep the paint from coming off your dice?

I'm thinking indented dice would have been pricey. I lacquered by origial blue and red Heroscape dice with clear nail polish, however I'm not recommending you do that with your dice. I haven't examined mine in probably over ten years. Not sure how they look now.

Is the paint fading on the dice a thing? I've have all my dice since the start in 2006 and they haven't faded or anything at all. To be fair, I haven't used them in a long time and we mostly use the Valkyrie Dice from Flag Bearers but even then, they haven't faded. I didn't get the first edition so I don't have the blue and red dice. The best thing I could suggest is maybe just touch up when they start fading. Or get some normal 6 sided dice and just say evens are skulls, odds are shields. Wouldn't suggest doing that, but if you can't get them touched up, that is a very cheap alternative.

I'm gonna paint the trees to make them look more natural. You could really make the cacti look good with a little yellow and some slight teal green.

When the saying "realize what you lost" extends to new Heroscape. That jungle terrain issue is disappointing. I like the Ewashia sculpt! The Marro is indeed sloppy. Original HS figures were never the most crisp miniatures, though this guy looks as if they created a mold from an already casted figure (if that makes sense.) The Wellspring water is a bit of a letdown, too. It just seems most consumer products nowadays are shoddy and not as well manufactured as the years grind on. I'm still excited for new Heroscape and appreciate your videos, Sir. Thanks!
