This was my gateway game. It got me into miniature gaming, which in turn got me into miniature painting. The quality of the minis look top notch, they look to be hitting above their weight class. It was a smart move to go with bigger, chunky looking minis and just play to the strengths of the production process.

If you’re new to painting I’d recommend trying the slap chop method, one of the easiest ways to paint with good (not professional) results. Especially since it’s done using speed paints/contrast paints

Really looking forward to painting these. The pre painted aren't really done that well. Thats not a knock on them, as far as pre painted, they are really good. But most people can do better with a little time and practice. The difference is you only paint one set. The people painting the pre painted are doing hundreds of sets.

The upside of the low quality paint jobs is that they’re visually consistent with the old figures. But yeah, most people with any painting experience can do better.

Great video! Hoping some videos chronicling your journey into painting. Also, would like to see a video of building a big map out of all the new pieces you have. Like, what could be built with two sets of everything (1 Laur jungle). The unpainted figures look really great!!! I am so looking forward to painting these up and I hope you have fun with it too! You can explore and not worry too much because you still have the pre-painted figures, so it can't go bad. Thanks again for all the awesome info sir!!!!

Thanks for this video, SH. I'll be content with two of those jungle trees rather than owning Laur. As much as I dislike painting, moving forward I might be purchasing the unpainted versions. 7:54 yes Bok-Bur-Na appears crisper and sharper than his painted counterpart. You're a Zombicide fan as well - excellent. Black Plague was my first experience and love it. I also have Undead or Alive and that is just as fun. I had high hopes for Night of the Living Dead, however out of the box, it's poorly designed iteration.

I'm surprised the utility belts/canisters didn't spur more discussion. I remember noticing that a lot of the figures in the AoA campaign, and kept waiting for an in-universe lore reason for them.

You put the tail on first before the wings.

Just so people are aware, these are *not* primed. You will have to prime them yourself before applying paint.

Any plans on comparing the balance of the new set to the old ones? If so, how are you planning on doing the video? Thank you for doing these videos for us and I can't wait to see what you have for us next.

Not sure why the ads and promo pics showcased the wellspring water tiles as being a rainbow shimmer, then when you open it up and find out it’s just white. Kind of a let down in my opinion. And I don’t know about anyone else but my dragon is leaning in a way we’re his tail has to hold him up. Kind of sucks because he’s so top heavy.

Curious to see how big the maps you can build out of both boxes are

Sadly as an aussie i couldnt justify the purchase for the painted since it was over 600aud for the master set and the other one together when it was only a little over 200 for the unpainted version on gameology for the two.

Instead of a wash they should have a nice basecoate like D&D figures. Now I will have to remove the wash and then basecoat them. That's a bummer. The plastic inserts for the parts look cheap. As if they used normal drills to carve out the mould? Wow.

Not seeing the brown base hurts

I don't know how I posted my previous post on the wrong video lol. So I am going to repost this in the actual right video. When they first announced these, I hated the colored models. I hated the reds and blues ect. Mostly because it would be near impossible to paint them. It is a big reason it took me so long to buy the Magic the Gathering figures that were basically based on Heroscape. I am still disappointed in how much they have become compared to the past and other miniature table top figures, but with them primed, I can see them nearly being worth the price. Plus, if you are lucky, you can find them for cheaper than market. Compared to older Heroscape stuff being over 500 for a set of heroes ect. I am glad I kept all my stuff even though I thought about throwing out the terrain since I mostly just collect the figures now. But I hope I can get these at some point. The only thing I did get rid of, was the rule books, but I mostly have them memorized and it is so much easier to look them up online than keeping a lot of books around the house. I would probably still buy painted over unpainted. But these primed ones over the crappy reds and blues are a lot better. I am not the best painter. I've tried to paint some, but very few come out in a desirable look.

Have a feeling that not putting unpainted on the main box is gonna be weird for new players or people unaware. If theres not a box next to it that says "Painted version" people will see the painted figures on the back of the box and assume they come like that.

I agree, I think that could be quite confusing as well

It literally says they are unpainted in the Components list. No excuses for being caught off guard in my book.
