2:25 - Standing ovation from my family. Agree the value is there for Master set and Battle Box but priced the same for 4 or 5 figures??? I even think the $20 difference for the painting is a great value, but should not be starting out at $45 unpainted!

I’m not sure what group of people will actually utilize the BN. Casuals won’t access either site, and the Heroscapers community members are going to use the site with over a hundred well-designed maps, VC, and Delta all built in.

100%. BN will just be used for Renegade sponsored events to get promo minis. The real competitive scene will stay on .org

I really think the best decision they made was plane terrain boxes. And as much as it pains me 45 dollars for 4 unpainted minis is about industry standard. Shatterpoint miniatures are 50 for 3 to 5 miniatures unpainted and even star wars legion is about that much

Heroscape is supposed to be below the industry standard. If I'm paying Warhammer/Crisis Protocol/Shatterpoint prices, I'm just going to go play those games.

The price for the painted units doesn't seem too bad but the unpainted price is baffling to me. I am glad to finally see terrain only packs, though the configurations don't match up with how tournament organizers currently build maps....

Crazy high for the quality we’re getting. And yeah, the terrain configs are weird, almost like they didn’t consult anyone in the community about it…

I was also shocked that the prices of the army expansions were the same price as the battle box, but Heroscape is my favorite board game of all time and I gave up hope twice that I'd ever see another release. I'm going all in to try to make it a success and hopefully get new expansions coming for years. The only set I don't have on preorder is the Lands of Vahalla and that is because I have the Source Desert deluxe box ordered and waiting to see how Heroscape plays on that. I went with the prepainted options which I generally like, but will likely double dip on a few sets down the line to have alternate paint schemes. Not the biggest fan of the bright orange on the Eisenek and think the Knight Irene scupts is more grizzly than polar bear.

This game is nothing but a quick money grab off people’s nostalgia. They will probably just finish off what haslabs was originally going to make and then cancel it again. The mins should be industry standard for what they charge, not barely board game level quality.

The prices are now sadly industry standard. These days I 3D print the majority of my minis using an elegoo Saturn. For the price of 3x expansion boxes you could purchase a cheap printer and print out as many minis you want. sidenote: If I was renegade studios I would not give credit to the org, even though they deserve it, because it can get ugly fast. Even if everyone involved has the nobliest of intention, it only takes one person, one lawyer and an awesome thank you turns into a crap shoot for pocket change.

I was initially upset about pricing for the master set. Then when I saw the cost of expansions it made me realize how much of a deal the master set was. They got the master set right, but $45 for 5 -4 unpainted minis is a bit steep.

I was a big Heroscape fan when it first came out and played a crap ton of it. I am a middle school teacher and I ran man after school Gaming club and I had a permanent Heroscape setup in my room in one corner. Life got busy and my after school club kind of went away. I was super excited when Hasbro announced the return of heroscape. I saw the crowdfunding campaign on Hasbro pulse and passed on it because the price was outrageous. I'm going to Gen Con in a couple of weeks and I noticed I could get delivery of renegade releases at Gen Con. I'm going to be starting up my afterschool gaming club again next year so I thought this would be great. Once again I had to pass because of the prices. I've still got a complete Swarm of the Marro and Rise of the Valkyrie and a few little odds and ends from my original collection. I will use that to introduce the kids to one of the greatest games ever made. I may pick up the new sets after they are released, but at $225 for a base set painted, I have to think twice about that.

You have to remember they buy at wholesale prices. Reputable stores will meet or beat MSRP. My FLGS is usually 10-20% off from day of release. Miniature Market has regularly been below MSRP minus a few exceptions like Games Workshop items.

you want someone to explain the pricing? ok here goes. you are looking at the situation backwards. its not that the expansion box is over priced compared to the starter that includes more stuff. the reality is the starter is under priced. this is the norm for anything follows a starter/expansion model. at least I dont remember a case where it wasnt true, although it may exist. if you look at the prices for the 5 plastic unpainted figures, that is actually on par with most models sold in todays market. the extra 20 dollars to paint the figures by hand is actually VERY reasonable.
@ryguyplaysgames
@ryguyplaysgames 3 ай бұрын
Appreciate the response. I agree that the battle box is a good value. Although calling $10 per mini the industry standard seems a bit hand wavy when every DnD and GW product is half that price

@@ryguyplaysgames I was saying that it is industry standard to price starter sets cheaper than expansion sets. Not that the specific prices were standard. I can't think of a single starter set that is not a better value price wise. But the prices are fairly common. When I get back to my computer I can provide examples And to say GW doesn't charge 10 per figure... I'm not sure where you get that. I've seen GW charge 20 for single figures fairly regularly. I quit GW 20 years ago because they priced terminators at 10 per figure and they've gone up since. However, When I get back to my computer I will

@@ryguyplaysgames ok im just doing to do some random boxed sets for different miniature games. I havent really bought DnD miniatures in quite a while so I dont know what that pricing looks like. but heroscape is a miniatures game so I will compare it as such. Malifoux, these are unpainted and unassembled, so unlike heroscape you have to assemble these yourself. -"between the lay lines" 48 dollars. 3 figures actually, 2 normal human sized models and 1 giant mech suit model. -"Dark reflections" 50 dollars for 3 hound sized models and 2 large sized models. unpainted and unassembled. -"hush" 45 dollars for only 4 figures, all human sized, unassembled and unpainted. -"Cold as Ice" 45 dollars, 4 figures, 3 human sized 1 rather large sized figure. lets move on to GW, also unpainted and unassembled. -Dante 45 dollars. for a single slightly larger than human figure. thats right, a single figure. -sword brethren 62 dollars, 5 marine sized models -heavy intercessors 65 dollars 5 marine sized models -captain with heavy bolt rifle, 42 dollars, single figure, not even a named character. -death company 45 dollars for 5 marine sized models. -assault intercessors 62.50 for 10 models. basic squads like this are your cheapest option for marines, running about 6.50 per model. but remember as a basic squad, you will need several of these.... I also looked up some DnD miniatures, from the wizkids "nolzur's marvelous miniatures" line. and these are very well priced, ive seen larger figures up to 15 dollars but most are 5-10 for one or two human sized figures, or even more for smaller figures. these are priced really well. however this highlights the difference between dnd models and wargame models like heroscape, Malifoux or WH40K. dnd miniatures have no rules attached to them. wargame miniatures do. rules take time to design and test, test, test and more test. I have playtested for several different games before and it is a very time intensive process with a high turnover rate of playtesters. this costs money. and while its true that the current heroscape range has already been tested on the hasbro side, renegade had to pay for the rights, so the point still stands. 10 dollars per figure is not at all uncommon in the miniature wargame space, which is what heroscape is a part of. I find the models priced really well and the quality to be fairly good.

I think they forgot the mistakes of the past. I bought 20 zombie packs, Tons of Marro , Several Master Sets. Forcing unique sets only is going to stifle sales. The original $40 waves painted with on average 20 figs. 3 of those packs you could use several packs ina army. But one was all uniques meaning there would be dozens of packs you only needed one of while stores refused to open new cases till those were gone. It killed sales and the game. Now here we go again with packs upon packs of uniques. Rather than packs you can buy several. Hell the terrain we need Lava and Ice.... We need those Aquilla Jungle sets we missed out on when the game died. We also need Flagbearers for the new factions. But nope we get rip offs.

The original AoA was meant to just be one big master set. It was not meant to be spread out over several years. I agree it might kill the game but that’s not Renegade’s fault since they definitely didn’t have the capability to do one or two big sets like Hasbro could
@KiDmO365

@@ryguyplaysgames we only have to look at one other Hasbro property. HeroQuest was a massive release at the start meant to be a one and done like the AoA release. But HQ got major support from fans and has exploded into 9 expansions so far. They had the same plans for HS but were stopped when we did not hit the production goals to get the game made. Renegade got the license to bring it out on their dime for the molds . Hence the price hike. My hope is that minimum the terrain is widely available and all varieties. Lava and Ice were so difficult to hunt down.
