If you don’t understand the wiring please don’t do this lol. There are a lot of ways to do this, you don’t need a transformer. You can just use W and Common from furnace to connect to solenoid valve. The reason they hook up all them wires to the ADHC terminal strip is to activate the switching relay “H+H” when a call for heating comes “W” “G” (Obviously R+C are always constant, W + G are variable). The H+H is supplied 24V from the transformer, and it switches close to feed solenoid valve when a call for heating (R,C,W,G) are activated. Like I said, don’t do this if you don’t understand this. I know what I’m doing I do this for a living, but god forbid you do, you have this to reference. Good luck

Well covering how to get it out of the box was nice. I'm still trying to figure out how to wire the unit to a power source and where the specific wires go on the controller. The instructions kinda skipped right over that. I need some easy to understand details as I am sure many DIY'S would find handy to know and make the decision to buy this unit and install it themselves.

Fantastic video and fantastic product which i inherited from my recent home purchase. I got a maintenance kit and came here looking for some guidance installing the filter and unfortunately did not find it mentioned. I also did not notice anywhere it mentioned to put the colored stripes on the top when installing the water panel. Otherwise a top notch instructional video.

@6:11 You should include plastic ferrule for pex piping, not just copper one for copper 1/4 inch lines. I was unhappy to see it missing from my kit. Also, the template is too big, does not leave room for extra fasteners to fix the unit to the plenum. I will update once I get the missing part and test the unit.

@@aprilaireco TY for reply, I didn't expect that. Model 700M only. I had to improvise with a 1/4 in plastic ferrule and pex pipe (of my own) as the fit to the water receptacle nut is tight for 1/4 in line. Cutout is too big, it doesn't allow for fixing screws to the sheet metal behind. I already knew that from other users videos so I used the actual filter frame dimensions and it worked out very well; I was able to use a few screws to fix the frame to the plenum. All in all, the humidifier works: I have it controlled by Nest instead of humidistat, which I put away.

Is the new 700M a direct replacement for my circa 2005 700M ? They look 100% identical.

Internally, it has changed in such that the transformer was moved to an external location to decrease the likelihood of damage to the humidifier due to miswiring. Maybe you could apply some caulking to your nostrils 👃 to keep the screws covered for a better seal. Then can I run it exclusively from the supply side without having to worry about moisture killing my photo catalytic UV bulb? Captain Overtorque Blue Barrel wants to know if 700 is better without bypass re-dispensing to the hot air ducts. One plenum is plenty good?

I assume the transformer gets connected to the 110VAC from the furnace, correct? Also, the AC power cord is for the fan, correct?

I have the model 700 i notice that i am loosing a lot of AC thougt the 700 panel since the unit is not working in summer time. Is there any way to avoid that like the other model they have lever to shut off ?

There isn't anything built into the unit for this purpose, but it would be possible to create some kind of a cover on your own to limit the air escaping through the vents of the humidifier. My nest is reading 39% humidity and Aprilaire 700 basement thermostat is reading 42% in humidity. Is that normal in variance of humidity temperature ? Is it because one located upstairs and one in the basement on the furnace ?

Sure, completely different air and area of the home. Basements generally have more humidity and temperature. Humid air will feel colder.

I have a manual 700 series right now. Came with the house and I definitely need more humidity in the house because it only turns on with the heat and my house stays pretty warm. Does anyone know if you can install the automatic panel to replace the manual one so it can turn the fan on separately? Thanks.

You can do anything you want, so sure you can. The unit itself is no different, just add the controller. But if the manual controller is turned up all the way and still not getting enough humidity, then there are other issues. The system isn't wired correctly, water system is clogged or not supplying water or a bunch of other items.

Very inefficient. 3 Gallons (HOT) water per hour, Claims 18 into the air a day. 3/4 of the hot water goes down the drain or 54 Gallons wasted a day if it ran all day. Over a full tank of hot water. There should be a Flow Regulator, automatic or manual on these

Thank you for contacting Aprilaire. That is the expected flow rate for the Model 700 humidifier. The water is regulated through an orifice in the feed tube. Our Model 700 humidifiers are 20-30% water efficient depending on the heat of the water and the heat of the air. Would you mind giving us a call at 1-800-334-6011 to discuss your system? Humm wow didn't think about that. I was just thinking that my furnance is pulling water out of the air which is pumped over to the drain. I could really find a way to recycle that water for the humidifier. Which I understand needs to be hot water. But maybe I am on to something. Maybe one of those mini water heaters.

Turn down your water supply line pressure and slow the water usage down. Don't use full line water pressure between 30-80 PSI. If you used the saddle valve screw it back in and slow it down. If you put another valve type in, slow the rate of water usage. That is half the season they use those garbage valves because they flow a tiny amount of water compared to a full pressure line.

Thank you for contacting AprilAire! The AprilAire Model 700 Fan-Powered Evaporative Humidifier operates in conjunction with the heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment (HVAC) blower. When the AprilAire Humidifier Control calls for humidity and the blower motor is operating, water flows to the distribution tray located at the top of the humidifier. The water is uniformly distributed across the width of the tray and through a scientifically designed system of outlets, it flows by gravity over the Water Panel evaporator, the heart of the humidifier. Dry, hot air is moved through the moisture-laden Water Panel evaporator where natural evaporation takes place. The now-humidified air carrying moisture in vapor form (nature’s own way) is circulated throughout the home. As the 700 is not a bypass humidifier, there is no place for a damper. it pushes the humidified air back into the duct. The bypass types of humidifiers will have the filter (where the air meets the water) nested within the duct itself. These types of fan models don't require that and instead they take some air from the duct (on the sides of this unit), pass it through the filter, and push it back into the duct. This is my understanding, anyway.

IT physically blows the humidified air into the duct verses using the models 600 and below with a bypass duct line to cycle the air through the water panel.

@@Balticblue93 easier, sure. Extremely expensive, yes. It isn't rocket science, with a little knowledge anyone can do it.

@@jcx2bby I totally agree, I encourage my customers to try the install first but they can schedule an install with me to save the headache and hassle. I am not going to give free phone support, but I totally agree, it is quite basic to install these units with basic knowledge of the technology. What mostly throws people off is the 24v transformer or the proper wiring of the green wires, because most people already have other items connected to the G. I try to help those that I can on KZbin. I just don't want anyone voiding their warranty of the HVAC equipment by adding equipment or messing with the wiring or incorrectly installing the unit.

LOL why? It would have to be sideways to be a liability. But be smart and use a level either way. It isn't going to flood a basement because it is slightly off.
