if you are winching with a cable an it start to sing lay your coat over your cable so if the cable breaks you your wife don't get hit with the cable the coat will make your cable fall to the ground and you won't get killed or hurt where you are mounting the winch is in the triangle of death good thinking on mounting easy way I like it be safe

To change the location of those terminals on the end of the winch, simply remove the screws in the end cap and simply turn the end cap then re-install the screws in the end cap.

8:50 I am sure you are aware dont be on the atv when winching from the front you are in the target zone if the cable lets loose...x

I just found your videos and I have to say I admire you two greatly. We are also making a new move. Not so far away and by no means to bare land- but it is (for now) satisfying my "simplified life" goal. I realize these are fairly new videos- I have watched them all and cant wait to see your structures go up.

+Pure Living for Life, eBay has some blades for Yamahas...a quick glance, they start about $175 and go up to about $500. We have a Honda, and were given the blade from one of our SIL's previous Polaris. Another of our SIL's had to use his cutting torch to do some modifications, but was able to make it work on our Honda. You can put a watch for a specific item you're searching for, then eBay will notify you of new listings.

3:15 IDK if anybody noticed but you put lock washers on bolt head side with nylon lock nuts. Dont need the lockwashers at all but if you use the put them on the side with the nut. ;-) lol cables are man bracelets!

Something to consider, that winch in probably 2,500lb of "rolling" weight not "dead" weight.

Be careful sitting on that thing if you're going to be winching you're in THE worst possible spot if that cable comes loose or snaps it could literally split your head in half.Make sure if you are sitting on it to lay a heavy blanket over the cable so it will have a lower chance of whipping back at you.As far as the front rack also be careful it doesn't rip it off those things really aren't enforced very well.Other than that you're on the right track keep it up love you guys and your Channel.

The cables supplied with my winch were way too short for installation on my KIngQuad 400 which is one of the smallest machines on the market these days. I had to purchase their accessory long cable kit for an additional $45 or live with a useless 22lb paper weight. When I contacted KFI customer service, they were totally disinterested in making things right with me. What KFI should do is find the largest machine on the market and estimate cable length from the winch location to the farthest point on the machine then add another 12-15 inches. But that would impinge on their secondary market selling longer cable kits. Buyer beware.

If you try to winch heavy items you'll rip that rack off your atv. Try to mount it to the frame.

dwarden3 is correct. Rack is to "soft" mounted to work. Steel frame at axle height is best. If you want to make winch moveable use 2" receivers front and back.

If you don't put the lockwasher under the nut side of the bolt, it won't do anything. Just saying. @3:15

Why a 2500 and not a 1500 I would say lower but dont think they make em.

So does it work. Sounds weak. 2500lbs. not a very big tree. Although it sounds powerful enough to stretch out your ATV frame when you tie it to a tree. And depending on the lay of the cable whether it will snap back when it breaks. Unless you use a large cable to tie the winch around the base of a tree. Wet logs will weigh a ton. plus the dragging on the ground adds more. So maybe 8' logs. Not including the damage to the cambium layer to the base tree. Possibly killing it in the process.

Another good video and you guys again have a decent channel but for the life of me I'm getting lost in the madness, Too much boring talking and repeating of the old video clips in your new videos. My biggest gripe....This journey that you guys are taking is amazing but its your journey and I find it a tough pill to swallow when people post videos and at the end of every video they say follow us on ??? subscribe, watch/view, like us on ???, donate to our cause. I mean if people want to watch or sub to your channel or blog they will intuitively do so without you guys reminding them after every video. Correct me if I'm wrong.... your journey you should pay for it not beg for support. I wish I could get people to pay for my needs, wants or desires so I can live more freely. I-begging aka internet begging has become the norm over the years, people are good at it and its crazy. Although I admire you both for doing what youre doing its hard to watch you begging and in some cases talking too much. Just my opinion which I'm entitled to have. Again another good video though
