When I went down to Dominican Republic at our resort there was a man selling various Larimar jewelry and by it all he had a large square cut piece of it sitting out for display. He mainly used it to describe where the jewelry came from, it wasn't intended to be sold. I think I shocked him quite a bit when I asked him to buy that instead of any jewelry. 40$ for a giant cut and polished cube of it! I was so happy :)

I saw that episode of Untold Stories in the ER too. Larimar was named by the the ruler of Dominic Republic, his daughter's named was larissa so he named to larimar.

Hope you feel better. Those specimens were amazing. I want to get some slabs of Larimar so I could try to make some nice cabochons one day, but I would have to be extremely lucky because of it's rarity. Did you know that Larimar is also the national gemstone of Dominican Republic?

I have fallen in love with larimar. I have a ring with a beautiful stone that just takes me back to my days floating in the ocean back home on St. Croix. Every time i look at it, i feel like I'm standing in the water with my face right on the top, looking down to the sand and seeing the sun light and the ripples from the water.... It such a beauty that my mere mortal words cannot do it justice.

I have only been coming to your channel for just a short time now and now you have me wishing that I had taken geology and gemology while I was in college . I have a very rudimentary knowledge of stones and I am always picking up specimens that I think are something ,like crude minerals or even gems. On 1 outing I found what for all intents and purpose appear to be meteorites. Yes I used plural . I also have other specimens I would like to have identified . But I guess I'll have to Google to find if there is anyone in my area that can id them.

Larimar was colonizated in 1977 not discovered🙄 Taíno's have been using trading Larimar for hundreds of years.

I just met a fellow here in Hong Kong who is shutting shop and selling all his stones. I've been looking for reasonably-priced, high-grade larimar. He bought his in the Dominican Republic, and I ended up buying all of his pieces (just 10). The best is a block of it, about 2.5 inches square... he let me have it for $100 USD, and I almost wanted to cry with joy!!!

From wiki- Pectolite is a sodium, calcium, silicate amalgam so is non toxic. safe to lick, in other words.

This episode brought me down. I think the lady was really down she couldn't go to the beach and I think her energy remained like that during the entire video, thus making me physical feel down. If she wanted a beach that bad, she should go, do a retake of the episode or sumn but don't put what was put out, shit was a downer to what normally is a good viewing experience. Just a thought 👐

I’ll have to second that. I’ll take that chunky Larimar slab over M&Ms any day. Larimar is extremely dangerous to mine and imo one of the most beautiful stones known to man. It definitely deserves respect. Lol perhaps that’s what the Pectolite was trying to say. I’d love to see Rebecca cover Larimar😜
