@@xcumulusx is there much of a difference in scale with things like the SM’s and Mechanicum etc? - like on the standard troops? Do you approach painting them the same way as a normal mini?

Have two of these boxes and the book coming. One box I’ll make Mechanicum and double the number of Automata with the ones from the second box. The second box will be Dark Mechanicum and fill the remainder of the army with the upcoming Stalkers variants. Recommendation: GW recommends 3,000 point games, but really start off with 1-2,000 imo is best.

I think I like the looks of the Dark Mechanicum (admittedly - I don't know much about them) so ill wait for their released and have a look - although I like the idea of doing mini Dark Angels!

Legions Imperialis is by far my favourite GW game at the moment. The scales great for actually getting the feel of a battle. Can do proper flanking manoeuvres etc. In my next game I’m going to have my whole army deployed in flying transports. I’ve got a sizeable Ultramarines army, with some auxilia support. Think the main point when painting them is making sure to push the contrast. Between the model and the base, and different parts of the model. Everything’s so small, you really need the colours to pop. My only other advice is to not worry too much about the tiny guys, spend your effort getting the vehicles and stuff to look good.

Thanks for the help, I might shelve these for a minute and grab some Space Marines so I can do a Dark Angels army - I’ll have a good look at the range and maybe treat myself

@@cat_or_rabbit Good idea. Allying in stuff is super easy. You just have to have 70% from your primary list (Marines, Auxilia, Mechanicum). So you can easily add these to some Dark Angels. I would recommend the marine planes, as they are great fun to paint (though the Xiphon box has way too many in it). And you can finally get a Thunderhawk.

Great video! Its 146 models but for stuff like infantry you have depending on what between 3 and 5 models PER base so thats why it days 56 "models" models in that term is the wrong word, its more 56 bases of models but over all 146 individual plastic miniatures For painting it depends how much time you want to sink into it. As a rule try and make stuff like the tabks and bugger units look best as they read better from far. Then foe the smaller infantry that depends how much time you want to put into it with the detail tbh

Ahhh I see re: the bases so it’s 46 bases but with 146 minis on them etc - that makes sense nice one, I might shelve these for the minute and grab some Space Marines when I get paid. I’ll defo put more focus on the bigger units and probably just contrast the small guys and pick out some odd colours. Thanks for the help!

I will be honest, I see these sprues and all I can think is how o use some of these bits to spruce up some terminators.

I did think that originally but looking I think they’re still a bit to small, i might see what I can come up with myself
